i have been groped by older women several times on nights out.I have been treated like a piece of meat and im sure plenty of other men have too. you just don't hear about it because men don't care. that is the difference

It happens to men yes but its not nearly as widespread. Generally when a man gets his ass slapped or whatever on a night out it seems like more of a joke. And the objectification of women in media is a whole other story.

First of all, how exactly was it slut shaming? Don't want to drag the thread off topic, but the word "slut" derogatorily refers to a woman who is sexually promiscuous. That's all. If you're sexually promiscuous while cheating on your current partner, you're a lot worse than just a "slut". So GamerGate involved cheat-shaming, not slut-shaming.

Not that that makes it any better, just a gripe I have. Being promiscuous when you have no commitments to anyone and being promiscuous as a form of betrayal are two entirely different behaviour and shouldn't be conflated with a single word, as far as I'm concerned. Shaming people for sleeping around is slut-shaming. Shaming people for serially cheating on their partners is not the same.

Actually, it didn't. It involved claiming with no evidence whatsoever that a woman was sleeping with a journalist in return for good reviews, which is indefensible.

Actually, there's a condition called androgen insensitivity syndrome where a person is genetically XY but doesn't respond to male hormones and develops largely female characteristics. These genetic men are often tall and quite thin, with narrow waists and hips due to a lack of oestrogen, and as such it is thought to be more common among catwalk models than any other group.

    That's genuinely interesting. Thanks.

Actually the Gamergate narrative began with a woman being criticised by a bitter ex for sleeping with a man. Not sleeping around or cheating. The fuss arose from the implication that she did so to get a favourable review for her indie game, despite the guy she slept with never writing any such review. In fact the site he wrote for never published a review of the game in question at all. Also there wouldn't be that much to be gained from the review since the game was free anyway.

So technically she was "not-becoming-a-sexual-hermit-after-a-breakup" - shamed.

Well, why do you think women are offended by having their ass slapped and men arent? Are women all just whiny bitches?

Ever see women when a male stripper appears at a party? It's like watching lions disembowel a zebra on the plains of the Serengeti

there once was a time when men and women respected each other, then binge drinking and ladette behaviour finished that. Women became aggressive and wanted to be men, only worse than men , now no one respects any one man dog or child.
The human race is just an appalling mess. Women hate men men hate women and children torture animals. life is cheap be-headings and murders dont even shock us. Civilisation is breaking down , the sooner the world bursts from overpopulation and war the better then all the creatures we have tortured will have their space back !Man is destructive, selfish and greedy.

Some women aren't offended at all by having their ass slapped, some men are offended by having their ass slapped. You really can't generalise like that and say one gender finds it offensive and the other finds it a joke, or vice versa.

As evasion_kid so eloquently put it, if you've ever worked in the female oriented entertainment industry, many men are left battle scarred by the experience! :pac:

You ever felt real fear that a woman would rape you, or had to threaten to get your brother to kill them if they didn't dump you out of the car on the side of a road? Do you know any man that that's happened to? Do you know any man who has had their drink spiked by a woman? When you are treated like a piece of meat, is there any real intimidation behind it?

They were joking. I'm not joking though when I say this was the most disgusting rant I've read in a while -

Ladette behaviour? The 90's called and want their rhetoric back.

    Seriously?

There was a time when a woman could be gang raped in Dublin in broad daylight, there was a time when many men would come home from a day at the pub and beat their wives senseless and the law would not intervene, and so on. Let's not pretend the trend is towards more binge drinking and violence. It's not...but there is still a way to go.

Men have more reason to fear being assaulted by women than vice versa?

I'd like to see those stats. Thanks.

I think he meant by other men.

I've seen plenty of shìt, it doesn't mean I want humanity wiped off the face of the earth, because I've seen far more good in humanity than you obviously do, and I've seen humans do far more good to preserve animal and plant species than you obviously have. You have a very warped view of humanity and society tbh, in fact, so warped I shouldn't have even bothered expressing my disgust with your post as you're unlikely to take it on board.

When you claim other people have no respect for each other, the best place to start to change that is within yourself, by not coming out with stupid comments like that which tar everyone with the same shìtty brush.

Do you know any man who has had their drink spiked by a woman?

Do you know of anyone who has medically been proven to have had their drink spiked by drugs in Ireland?
I have seen it claimed that that has never happened in Ireland ever so whenever people talk about drinks being spiked I like to give them a chance to disprove that claim.

I've had my ass groped, not just slapped, my sides rubbed. And my crotch grabbed. While waiting on a friend who was in the toilet in a pub. That's just on one occasion, but it's happened numerous other times too on night's out.

Do you think I should take all of that as a joke?

Liam O That's because third wave feminism or whatever label they attach to themselves these days holds that women have no agency, no responsibility, it is always the man/men's fault, because patriarchy. Very convenient. Cake and eat it time. Men hold all responsibility and not just their own, but hers too. Very Victorian altogether. It seems much of modern feminism has had an irony bypass. And before the "oh that's just the extreme", nope this is mainstream feminism that holds these views.
    Ha.

All of which you speak has their strings pulled by lobby groups, with agendas, none more powerful lobby groups than women's lobby groups

Yeah it's always the women, even when it's the men I knew it was the women

Did you ask the person who claimed it had never happened for proof?

It is a lot harder to prove something has never happened than that it has.
If something is common enough that people fear it then it should be relatively easy to find a case.

I work in social care too as it happens and I've seen all that and worse, but it is by far and away outnumbered by the positives I've seen and how people will go out of their way to help other people and care for them.

so get off your high horse one eye open your 2 eyes!

I'm not the person who rode into the thread decrying all of humanity and wishing we were wiped off the face of the earth, and no matter how wide I open my two eyes, that will never bring back the sight in one. Uveitis saw to that... ;)

I felt real fear that a woman would convince our mutual friends that I had cheated on her, and then kill herself, if I didn't go out with her. I was 18 years old, her the same. Is that not abuse?

I know men who have actually gone and committed suicide following relationship break down.

Are you suggesting that what happened to you is a real common fear amongst men? I have never heard if it.
