    Ah OK.

The thing is Liverpool & Leicester don't rotate well at all. If I had owned Gomez I think I would have played him ahead of all the teams I mentioned (purely fixtures-wise) and out of the 3 you mentioned I'd only have favoured Huth (whom I actually own and played).

Anyway, this doesn't make your point un-valid (not my intention anyway) but I wanted to stress that spending "reasonably" in defense could work well too and save some selection dilemmas ;).

Also the cheap defense point was stronger last year wasn't it (though it's only 1 GW so far)?

    Leicester/Liverpool would have given this:

SUN, BOU, TOT, WHM, AVL, NOR, AVL, so I would have thought it would have been a popular paiting for the 2/3 format. No point looking much beyond that with the way the wildcards work now.

Having looked at that I wish I had a Leicester defender to rotate with Gomez now lol!

Not much point looking at rotation over the whole season though for two reasons - (1) Gomez is not likely to hold his place for too long and (2) wildcards will be used between now and then.

I looked at rotations over the first 8 weeks or so as it's likely I'll have used my wildcard by then. The best rotating pair of teams over that period with Liverpool is Leicester and Stoke (if only one of the three is playing), so the Leicester defender definitely would have been in the team for this week anyway home to Sunderland.

What rotation are you looking at! Leiceter Liverpool gives this:

BOU, TOT, WHM, AVL, NOR, AVL, and thats not even taking into account a third team thats dam good rotation!! No point looking much beyond that with the way the wildcards work now.

    Just to be more precise.

When I consider my rotating plans, I look at 2 things:

    1) The season home/away rotation table => http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=96227741&postcount=578
e.g. unless there is an exceptionally favourable run of fixtures I'm not gonna bother with Pool and Villa with only 4 "rotating" games.

    2) The short-terms rotations
e.g. the Liverpool-Leicester you just gave jimmii.

    ---

As I said, I was very busy these last weeks and rushed my team, so the only short-terms rotations I considered are the ones from this FFS article.

Obviously I missed the Pool-Leicester one :o. And didn't know about Pool-Leicester-Stoke (which actually sounds good). I also don't know about Gomez' starting position.

But in hindsight, I thought a £4.5m 'Pool def needs consideration after their good CS record last year and wondered how I missed it (despite the little time I spent in making my team) :p.

Yeh I missed it too not sure how looking at it now! I did go with Gomez but only as back up unfortunately he'll be playing this week ahead of Azpi though. Took a punt on him and Ibe in UFPL handy having the subs there though for when one of them does get dropped! If Gomez starts the first three his ownership is going to be massive!

He crashed Raheems car apparently but should be fine.

Liverpool Leicester and Liverpool Norwich offer a great first 8 rotation and as a previous poster said there is no point in looking much further than 8 weeks ahead.

Aguero to come on for last 20 minutes I reckon, can't rely on Bony for the whole match either as he is just about finished recovering from illness

I hope so if he starts I worry about a big net in for him and a possible price rise which would suck for those of us holding firm on waiting!

I'm not overly worried about city and aguero tonight. They have suffered more than most from the copa america with regard players missing and have struggled against any sort of decent opposition in pre season. Aguero to get either 60 from the start or 30 at the end. It's also a really tough away game.

Yeh teams who went cheap with Aguero have certainly been rewarded with top performances wish I had knee jerked him in now!

Ah here. Putting Aguero in your starting team based on the high liklihood that he'd play some part gw1 is hardly kneejerking.

Id call it considering the changing environment and reacting rather than retaining attachment to a previous but now superseded plan.

I changed my team structure of 4 odd weeks after very careful consideration and I'm mighty happy i did.

The most dangerous of the Kneejerkers, one who rationalises his kneejerking jerks. :)

I have to say the word "kneejerk" really annoys me. It means "automatic and unthinking".

If someone is taking the time to read this forum, I don't think their moves can be described as "automatic and unthinking".

Different people have different strategies that they like to follow. I've already transferred Mahrez in for Walcott. Do I think it will be the wisest move ever in the history of FF? I doubt it but I decided to take the chance.

Ok maybe that is what it means. I thought it meant reacting too quickly without due thought or consideration. Transferring Walcott out for Mahrez is not kneejerk but IMO using wildcard this week or -8 transfers is kneejerk.

I used my wildcard on the very Saturday the games kicked off two seasons ago and it was one of the best moves I made. I ended up finishing 1500 in the world and I was right up inside the top 300 at one stage late in the season until I imploded and fell back down.

The year before that I took an 8 point hit in GW1 and still finished at 7k in the world.

If it is part of your strategy fair enough and we know that you think long and hard about what you do. But you have to admit Lemlin that some people on here saying it are kneejerking

I had an ARF (Aguero Replacement Fund) in place to get him in with 2 transfers. The fact I dedicated time come up with an ever so witty name shows my commitment to the Sergio cause :D

Hope I'll be jerking my knees later as I leap with joy. As far as I'm concerned I saved myself those 2 transfers as the striking placeholders didnt fill me with much confidence.

The most I really expect is 30 minutes but that could be enough to sate my appetite.

Mr.P don't knee jerk, he's just a crazy mofo that don't play by no rules. Yeehaw!! :)

But wasn't that a double gameweek for Chelsea? I think that made it a different situation tbf. A lot of people set up with 3 Chelsea and 3 whoever the other team was and wildcarded straight afterwards.

Pity I left him on my bench though. If he holds his place they have 4 great home fixtures in the next 6. I started huth bassong and kolorav over gomez. Maybe should have started gomez over bassong as palace are quite attacking.

Nah, that was the right play. Bassong at home with similar odds (that were probably biased a bit by the Liverpool effect). I have Rudd(y) and had no interest in any Leicester players so never considered Huth in a rotation. Francis I just didn't want to rely on two promoted sides frequently

I see FFS scout picks managed 26 pts with all players played. 31 if you allow for a rooney captain.
