When was the last time Waterford knocked one of the top three out??
    Tipp 08??

Yeah and that was the last time we won a game in Croke Park!

If there's any waterfordians living in the Sheffield area .... The masons arms in Doncaster is showing the game on Sunday . Gaago has jumped up to €14 a game so to get to see it on proper TV 😜😜. I'm all at sea with this one , I really don't know what to expect ... I suspect that like all Waterford people I'm expecting the worst because that's how it always ends for us . This team has a different feel to it though .... My biggest fear is that kk knock the stuffing out of them and down we go again .... But something tells me " not this team" if we get beaten so be it , I think that we're a year at least ahead of where we should be and its like someone forgot to give these young lads the script .great , that's exactly what we needed ..... Go for it lads .... Like thousands of other Deise supporters around the world everything will cease to exist for a day and the " holy" shirt will be kissed and soaked simultaneously 🇫🇮🇫🇮.... Here we go again .... The pain and the joy of the deise hurling team ....... Whatever happens .....UP THE DEISE 🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮

Our record in croke park is appalling. Was listening to Ken McGrath on newstalk last night and he was saying he played in 8 semis and Tony played in 9 and they only won one. It really is a poor run of form there. The only games we've won there since the 50s has been Galway 08, Cork 07 and Tipp 08. I hope the new team can break this hoodoo. Losing to Limerick in 07 was the worst day of my life, never want to go back there!

Nice bit of buzz about the town on this. Was thinking back to a couple of years ago and I’m just delighted that upthedeise.com no longer exists. That gob****e Cian Foley was an awful embarrassment. The songs, the pictures and his love affair with the players. It was cringe. Although this page can be bad at times it is nowhere near that.

I think you brought him out of retirement with that ;)

Lads Kilkennys bench is very ordinary. First time I've looked at a Kilkenny bench and have not been afraid of who they can bring on. Hopefully going down the home stretch the options we have off the bench might swing it for us

But their second string is the second best team in the country.......

Yeah our conversion rate is shocking tbh, it's a pity we came up against very strong KK, Cork and Tipp teams in those years. But to be fair we just weren't good enough on each occasion even though so many times we just shot ourselves in the foot at crucial times or carried a few too many players on the day.
Think you meant 98 when we beat Galway and we also beat Tipp in a quarter final in 06 aswell, that was a sweet victory I can recall, Dan having a stormer.
I think there needs to be a rule on this board where Limerick 07 AI semi final is not allowed be mentioned and is to be erased from memory! I know it sounds crazy but I remember going into that game ecstatic at the thought of finally getting to an AI final. Pure disrespect towards Limerick but it was difficult not to get carried away at the time, we were having such a great season and seemed unbeatable.

Jesus I have absolutely no recollection of Tipp in 06 and I must have been at it haha

I hate to speak negatively but here are my fears about tomorrow.

I've a bad feeling Shanahan will be smothered out of the game. Himself, Gleeson and Bennett to be horsed out of it physically and mentally. Struggle to win possession and puck outs. After that I'm very concerned about where scores are coming from.

I think the backs will do their usual and be very combative, but ultimately I don't think we'll have enough up front.

I hope I'm wrong but this is my concern.

Very realistic probability of that happening. We're going to have to be up for this physically. If we're not winning puck outs we'll be beaten out the gate. Half forward line is where this will be won and lost that's why I'd like to see Gleeson there as he is very strong in the air

Kk will be mad to lay into shanahan tomorrow. Especially after his carry on against dublin, he wont get very far acting the goat against the likes of paul murphy. Its worrying to see that ridiculous song going around social media. Hope im wrong but if ever a fellah was built up for a big fall......

Someone like Murphy could just put him in his pocket I fear. Gavin will let anything go.

Shanahan will do fine once ther eis a supply of ball going in.

No doubt KK will try to double team him but I don;t think the song will make a difference.

Its only a bit of crack

It happened Dan Flynn and mullane in the past when we faced KK in Ck ok.... One of them was completely marked/horsed out of the game......

Congrats to waterford on once again beating Kilkenny at the singing. You have a proud history of it and are cemented in as one of the big three in singing songs before hurling matches. Bring lots of flags and noise tomorrow, you have always been great noisy neighbours and ye have the best fans in the game, so well done on that too. Don't stop believing, as they say...

Don't let the bitterness poison you too much....

^^this type of unnecessary sniping and bitterness is why people dislike kk

You don't see Waterford fans going to the kk thread mocking about lack of jobs...kk inwardness, the horrible rumour about the parents of one particular kk forward....no need for it and serves no one

This and the kk fans coming onto here in the immediate aftermath of Waterford winning the league (which told a blunder by the Clare goalie for kk to avoid relegation btw)....is the one main motivating reason....it's not banter...I know plenty kk people who can laugh/joke about it....this pure unadulterated inward looking spiteful bitterness....and I even dislike going to wat v kk Matches over it....the only game were there is always a poisonous atmosphere/undercurrent even there comments to players on the pitch from the stand is horrible and shameful

Hood your ****ing horses, what did I say that would be equivalent to going on about a lack of jobs or rumours about people's parents? What you do have her is a rake of people saying Kilkenny fans are bitter and sniping and not into good humoured banter. But apparently even the most harmless post, like mine, can be trusted to give you an excuse to rant like you just did, so there's no point giving any credence to your view of Kilkenny fans.

There most certainly are plenty of posts on our thread that would be the equivalent of what I wrote, if you can explain how my post is equivalent to the stuff you just decided to compare it to, grand, but otherwise, get over yourself.

Somebody please tell me that not everyone on here is as offended as Tom by what I wrote? If ye are, I honestly despair.

In the meantime Tom if you could give us a list of the acceptable areas of banter so I don't tread on your toes again. So far, singing and making noise are off the table when talking about waterford, along with personal rumours and economic despair when talking about Kilkenny.

That post is just the typical spiteful farmer kk post
Coming onto a Waterford thread with no effort to discuss anything only pour scorn and bitterness onto it
What is that made you feel the need to make a mock of Waterford fans and tell them to be sure and sing etc before the match....I followed the kk thread and read it with the last week and at worst there's one poster who suggested Waterford would beat kk with bad puns about kats included

Nothing like the vile and bitterness and being honest nothing short of wind upping that you posted as banter

It's a long running sore againest kk....Waterford cars being stoned coming back from matchs in kk over the years (thank god for the motorway)....or Waterford train getting stoned at the train station
Walsh park vandalised over the years in the week leading up to wat kk match and never at any other time.....it's the exact mindset I hate that's behind that post

Honestly, you're overreacting, and, I think, making an eejit of yourself. There was no harm in it, and if you felt there was, you take it too seriously. Not sure what would count as "banter" to you, but it would have to be fairly tame if this is how you react. Something tells me other posters on here are embarrassed with your reaction, dunno if they'll admit it to the enemy.

Incidentally, I'm not a farmer, would like an explanation of what you meant by that, along with mentioning rumours about Kilkenny players parents and employment in Kilkenny, that's three insinuations about the county you've made, all justified because I said something about singing.

Yeah joking aside (and I was, obviously, joking) I'd rather waterford than either of the other teams win the all Ireland. As I said on the other thread, not a fan of the notion that their style of play isn't attractive, fans have suffered a fair bit, etc.

    And they sure can sing.

Being fair...as a kk supporter...you must know the type I'm referring to (not majority btw)....but I remember years ago going to kk v Offaly match and the abuse hurled at the Offaly team and supporters despite winning handy was appalling if we're honest.....these weren't kids like drunk on a terrace...tipp fans get slated...but ime kk fans are as bad (some not all)

Either way...I do hope it's good game and let the best team win....at the end of the day....its first time in a long while where wat and kk are v.evenly matched in terms of skill levels

Though I do fear slightly in the physicality stakes where kk would be signicantly ahead (wat struggled v Dublin)...and experience....you cannot buy that....it cost Waterford a Munster final v tipp...as while they could handle tipps forwards (big achievement)...they lacked the experience and technical know how to out score them (stupid wides etc)....this is one area where kk should be good as I see no reason for them to not to be?

Yes but your post was silly and unnecessary, regular posters would know Realt dearg isn't a troll, anyway enjoy the game tomorrow and may the best team win.
