It's worded as if written by Brian himself.

That's more embarrassing than any Cork defeat this year.

Pathetic stuff, no accountability. I would be raging if I was from Cork.

I fail to see how one decision by the ref cost them that game. It wasn't as if the penalty was awarded in the dying seconds of the game with cork 1 or 2 points ahead. The way some went on about it you'd think it was. Cork had plenty of chances to see out the game after that penalty, including a few glorious opportunities towords the end which they failed to take.

So it's the fault of the ref, God for the poor weather and the short turnaround? Who agreed to the 2 week break between draw and replay, thus meaning there was only a week to the Kildare game?

just when you think they couldn't get any worse. No wonder we are the laughing stock of the country.

We need to get over this penalty decision. My god, if we had played CON's 45 at the end short and retained possession we would have won the game!!

Ladies thumped Meath 7-22 v 0-03 in the end.

Hopefully any journalist worth their salt will ridicule that statement, put more pressure on the board.

Is the draw set in the ladies football or are we waiting for games to be played?

Making very hard work of this, all the possession and still a point down

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,775 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Do they realise points are allowed? We keep going for goals non stop! All bunched in the middle

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 35,015 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

    Draw at ht 0-05 v 1-02

If they lose this match they will only have themselves to blame, awful shooting altogether.

The cork goal keeper would want to be told to take her time.
Cork have this game. 6 points up

Outstanding win by outstanding simply outstanding management team led wonderfully by the brilliant john clearly
Congratulations to cork all the panel for denying a good Galway three in a row

Cork in truth dominated this game from star to finish but nerves quite understandable for minors got to cork and lot poor shooting was evident cork should won by more and lucky Galway goal kept them in it

But Cork only conceded one four up to forty minutes gone and goal two half time showed how the team while not blanket defence still compact tight under stood basics modern defence play in cork always protected the d zone they as ladies football rarely scores much outside forty five just defence close to goal

Unlike some cork team this minor team were in non contact sport physics in the challenge, abrasive and fair compact and resolute, and has structure and organisations that only one goal conceded showed with ten minutes to go huge improvement one year from last year with cleary and showed clearly coaching was good and team under stood how to defend
The second goal was good goal but Cork took foot of the gas
Very noticeable was when Galway had another chance to goal and the keeper made great save the corner back cork tracked back made Galway forward chance very hard to score and this was the essence of good defending even when turned cork defenders never gave up their markers
This is a reflection of good coaching

Cork ladies also kicked lovely angled passes to create scores and vary the attack
The problem was cork at times didn't have confidence to shoot but always tool one ball too much out of the attack or accuracy was off but under standsble at minor

Fact was this was excellent win against a good Galway team and fact cork dominated the game doesn't mean cleary is all ireland senior coach cork yet but shows any team ye has coached has least organisation and structure to it

Also when Galway got the goal and the brilliant scally misses a point cork never panicked
A beautiful Sensational worked move of creative work spatial awareness guile cohesion get scally in to space straight after the missed free to score a great point

Also her ist point from play was a side line worked one two and showed how cork coached this on the training ground
Cork never panicked and went Galway got the goal cork simply kept doing what they were doing as they like any good team simply belived in the system and game plan
All that changes was cork once nerves went cork became composed and accurate

Scally Murphy clearly and hanna looney had great games among others

Wonderful day for cork ladies football and credit to John clearly and management

Look at all the concepts of football and while ladies is different to men today showed cork ladies were well coached today

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 35,015 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Thoroughly deserved win. Looney and Scally will no doubt be with the seniors in the future.
Delighted for John Clearly as well!

Simply has to be has to be simply God willing has be offered cork senior football job and by God he'll bring good management with him and put joy and pride back cork football

A real real real coach in every sense

Simply Sensational absoultey sensation tactical master mind today and players outstanding

The interview after wards players praised cleary

Thank you cork ladies thank you john clearly putting smile back cork football especially the day it is

    Wonderful wonderful victory

In the second half Cork played the ball out to the wings more especially when getting near the Galway goal and this opened them up more. Good management as there was too much bunching in the first half.

As usual, the Cork ladies showing the way on how to win games

She scored the winning goal in the amazing comeback v Dublin last season. She can go on to become one of the greats of ladies Football - amazing talent. Hannah Looney is a gifted footballer too.

Divilly from Galway is also an awesome talent.

Great to see John Cleary continue his outstanding IC record - let's hope he'll be leading Cork Senior Men to AI glory soon.

You see there's a good lesson to be learned here today for you gary what makes good manager in yes different levels but the key dynamic and concepts modern football at any level remain the same

The cork senior football never had these consistently all year
    Ladies had
I'll simply put this in key points

Balance to the team in yes few girls not most skilful compared to others but essentially vital brought team work ethic want desire for work rate hunger and abrasive nature game
In a game no contact cork repeat time after time kept forcing turnover as one one challenges cork won turnover after turnover

Cork won the physics demands and ladies football is non contact to mens

Cork had no panic mode when Galway got ahead cork came back

Cork always crucially kept the score board ticking over never long spells without scoring bar ist half ist twenty minutes very tight but Cork created lot chances

Defence now watch closely time and again cork swarmed Galway possession and marked space rather than the player

    Watch cork attacking play
Lot attack was kick passing inside Galway d zone and hand passed was mixed with kick passing
    It was mixed

Cork absoultey dominated possession and kick outs cork always win breaking ball

Cork once got nerves gone were ruthless personified
    Went for goals
Cork at half time game plan was good but too much trying to walk the ball in too much
This is key for you to note
Cork management like all good management didn't panic but in fact same thing doing right stayed at but crucially cork played wider and didn't bunch but spread out

Cork had two outstanding forwards looney and scally cork got them involved in scoring or creating scores as much as possible

Also per match interview cleary was outstanding mark composure calm
He said cork hasn't any one Galway player mark but the team but once cork played as team had real chance winning

When cleary speaks he's natural instinct of game concept imo normal Joe Soap fans identify with clearly

Even in different grade to senior the modern concepts good good coaching shone through

Ladies minor and senior have a platform in two outstanding proven management in the awesome outstanding the great i mean great really really really really great Eammon Ryan and the excellent john cleary

    They have the platform
To build the white house it needed a solid foundation to build from
Management is the key to modern day success at any level in gaa now
It value can not be underestimated in any shape or form in my opinion

it's basically saying their chosen one was shafted by a ref, weather and scheduling. no accepting who appointed him and taking responsibility when it didn't go well.

I think that we'd have won that game if Cuthbert was the manager too.

I thought the statement by the CB was absolutely spot on. That's the kind of straight talking we need. We said nothing about Reilly last year and he went on to screw Mayo in the Semi.

We could be going for 2 in a row but for Reilly and Hughes. Fermanagh and Pete McGrath might be a bit peeved but they'll get over it - The CB might be populated by stooges and yes men but their glass is half full. Good on 'em.

Hard for Meath given Diana O Hora stepped down and the girls were in essence training themselves with a player coaching.

I'm embarrassed to be from Cork after that statement - absolutely ridiculous. Given the amount of time Cuthbert spent, you'd think we would have a clear game plan. Its the CCB putting their head in the sand again, the equivalent of a child putting their fingers in their ears and going nanananana. Sickening - you can't put the penalty to be the lone reason why Cork lost, they had plenty of time. Same sh*t, different year as far as I'm concerned, and for both the the hurlers and footballers show no fight or spark while wearing the jersey is shameful. You take the ball and drive forward, make a stand - Keano in his prime when things weren't going well, made a tackle, tried to lift those around him, but there are no leaders. Now that the CCB for rid of the last of the ringleaders, they fiddle while the city burns.

The CCB shout take a good look at how the underage in run with ladies, that senior team was built on underage teams 10/15 years ago, and Cork are one if not the most successful underage side in recent history. frank needs to get out, and take his cronies with him
