I'm swaying that way myself, saving O.5 is crucial.

yeah as is the security of starts, and he really did look good in their last friendly, also he should be fresher this season last season i think he was still hungover from the World Cup into November!

    Ozil or Walcott??

I get the Walcott love but not sure he will get enough games

I have Theo in there right now but doubt I will end up like that. Its a annoying from an fpl point of view he's probably the best of the arsenal mids just a shame he likely won't get enough game time.

Who are people going for in defense in the 4.5 bracket? I'm aiming for three and have Ward, O'Shea and Morgan in at the moment. Is there another diamond in the rough that I'm missing?

If Southampton don't get the cheque book out then Yoshida has to be worth a look. I'd imagine they are working hard to try sign someone but it's worth keeping an eye on.

    They seem like solid picks.

I'm going for 4x4.5 plus another more expensive defender. I'm going for 2 pairs of rotating defenders. Not looking beyond the first 10 gws.

Sunderland have good fixtures, so going for O'Shea. So have also gone for Colocini, as Newcastle balance their games nicely (apart from GW7).

Norwich also have a nice first 10 GWs. They have a couple of toughies, but Stoke and Bournemouth compliment those GWs. Have currently gone for Cameron, but may yet switch to a Bournemouth def.

I was thinking along the same lines. Unsure if Cameron is nailed on to start but Mings from Bournemouth will.

Ranieri has pretty much said Morgan will miss the start of the season with all the Internationals he's played over summer.

This may well end up being bad news for Yoshida.
Koeman will definitely sign a centre back now.

Yeah that's why I might ultimately change to Francis/Mings

    Opinions please

    1) Hazard/Yaya/Ozil

    or

    2) Fabregas/Silva/Walcott plus an extra 0.5m to strenghten elsewhere?

Option 1 was my first draft, but the more I think about it 2 makes more sense. Fabregas usually starts well, on last season's form Silva is the better option and Walcott looks likely to start in a very advanced position if not up front. On the other hand Hazard/Yaya are peno takers.

    Any thoughts?

City have tough opening fixtures score-wise. I'd try to go something like Hazard/Walcott/another pricey mid until they get to the Watford game.

Will it be Mata or Rooney on pens? Hard-to-say really. . . .

Mata until he misses one. Not sure if he's off the pitch

I'd go for option 2 as long as you're happy to shift Walcott (if his game time is limited) and maybe Fab (if Hazard becomes a must-have early doors) in the first 4-5 GWs. No problem if you plan an early wildcard, but if you're looking to hold on to it until closer to Christmas it might limit your opportunity to pounce on the early-season form players.

Not picking on you but this is something I've seen a few times on here. Is there evidence of this apart from last season?

Yes. Somebody put up the statistics of his last 5 seasons or so and it is quite incredible!

after ruining my team last 2 seasons by wildcarding after GW3 I swore I wouldn't set up my short term with an early WC in mind.
but looking at it now a combination of the new rules, copa America, tough opening fixtures for a few big teams and the probability of a few late big transfers (united for sure ) I've now come full circle and will set up without aguero, Sanchez , hazard and its looks like also a Chelsea defender !
not sure its the right way to go though
team at the moment in brief is along the lines of
    west brom goalies
    kos Shaw o Shea 4.5 4.0
    fab Walcott mata\depay mane 4.5
    rooney Costa sahko

I know they're just a guide, but I have my current team up to 315.21 points on the FF Scout projections for the first 6 weeks. That's the highest I've managed to get it in the two years (and many, many drafted teams) I've been using it. 56.23 points for GW1 which I'd be delighted with. I think I'm finally getting there after much deliberation over the last couple of weeks.

On another note, Southampton only have 2 fit CB's so unless they're going to sign one (which they will) and throw him in straight away, Yoshida at £4.5m is a cracking priced route into their defence for what should be the first couple of weeks at least. Perfect if you're going to wildcard early.

hazard has 53% ownership and plays Swansea home first !
Costa is the most owned striker with over 30%
can't own both without a downgrade in defence and prob midfield
