these jokers Cabot, and their debt collection crowd (forget their name, but same address as Cabot) are sending letters out to my boss. He is the same as that lady. These vultures are buying up 'debts' for cents, and trying to get money out of people.

I wonder if the Viper or the Serpent or some other vile creature is behind it.

Did you cancel or close the account? They charge you again at the end.

I cancelled Avant in Jan, paid in full including GSD for 2014/2015. opened a new one with AIB and they charged me e30 GSD for 2014/2015 in April

Is that Cabot crowd regulated by the Financial Regulator?

    Probably are in the UK.

There seems to have been a lot of cosy arrangements going on with these bus contracts. It was probably about time they got a shake-up.

    Probably are in the UK.

Cabot Financial (Europe) Limited, part of the Cabot Credit Management Group, is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Yup, assuming the "Financial Conduct Authority" are in the UK? just checked up on their website.

Looks like you can give the letter to AIB and they will refund you...
Stamp duty is generally collected on 1 April for the preceding year. The tax year for the stamp duty begins on April 2.

If the credit card account is closed and has never been used, no stamp duty is payable provided that you close the account in the same period as it was opened. If you don't close the account in the period it was opened you will be charged stamp duty on it even if it has never been used. If you have used your card and you close your account during the year, you will be charged stamp duty on closure.

If you are changing to a different credit card account you don’t have to pay the duty again for that year. When you are closing the account your card issuer will give you a letter of closure stating that you have paid your stamp duty for the year. If you give this letter to your new card issuer, you will not be charged stamp duty by them for that year. You can change account as often as you like during the year without paying extra duty, as long as you transfer a letter of closure between the card issuers each time.

"Opportunity to drop price", eh would that not defeat the whole purpose of a tendering process?

Thanks, yeah but AIB are saying I do not have an original letter. It is the actual letter I have been sent so is "original" as far as I am concerned, probably because it wasn't printed on a colour print which they seem m ore likely to accept as original....

I will fight on til I get it back though

Most of my 'education' was what I learned on the bus to and from school. It had very little to do with the driver!

If some of these employers dropped their own rate of pay by a few quid, they'd be well able to afford to give the rises.

With those kinds of escorts, it's not your hand they hold.

If the State lowered the taxes and USC then the employees would have more take up pay and everyone would be happy.

many small company owners have been barely taking a wage during the recession

Isn't this a proposed increase in min wage. It will have to be accepted by the government who will also have to factor in the PRSI and USC implications. I think this argument is a bit 'previous'.

This is what happens when you remove a whole bunch of people completely from the tax system, as we did during the boom. Madness.

Ah yes but then they couldn't get that back any other way like they are doing this.
Smart move by them, but they forget they aren't dealing with little school kids.
