Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just thought we should have a thread dedicated to mixing.

I made 100ml of waffle and 100ml of maple syrup tonight, decided to make them separately and only mix when steeped and tested separately.
For the first time I used the milk frother instead of shaking and the result looks promising for speeding up the steeping process

It was on another forum I was browsing for clone recipes (not sure what one)

They were basically saying it'll probably be part of the first steps towards regulation of the industry. Something about the sale of 72mg nicotine in bulk becoming less common already.

I'll start simple with my version of ' if a train leaves station A travelling at x speed '

I have a 100ml bottle of vg and a 100ml bottle of pg
    I vape 50/50 3mg

How do I make 200ml+ whatever nic to get my 50/50 3mg ?

None , I want it flavourless which I should have said ...........but check for the part where I said 'stupid ' ....what did you expect :D ?

If your mix is pg based and 72mg .then it's
    8.3 nic
    100ml vg
    91.7 pg

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,005 ✭✭✭JH_raheny

Depends on your nic. Base being pg or vg
You just replace either to desired nice level

Tried a bit of mixing the other day.
Had a bottle of 12mg Hangsen Mojito, and a bottle of 0mg Hangsen Mojito.
Well, I mixed a 50/50 blend and guess what? I'm vaping Mojito at 6mg!

All joking aside I'm also vaping the living sh1t out of a bottle of cola a mate mixed a couple of months back, and cutting it with black cherry by hangsen (I'm vaping up all my old juices) and I have to say I'm very impressed by the home made stuff.
I think I'm getting ready to jump into this madness.

Any tips on what gear to get to start out?

Am a bit slow (make that fearful) in taking the step to mixing for myself so wondering if anyone might be willing to mix me a juice similar to the Wingnuts Vampires Kiss - I love the fruity with a hint of ice cool but find it a pain in the butt that I can only get in 30ml quantities and its working out quite expensive. Very willing to pay (upfront if wanted) anyone that can help!!

I was the exact same a few months ago. My advice is buy a small beginners kit and a few suitable concentrates. Wont cost you much (maybe the price of 2 or 3 bottles of juice).

It a lot less complex than it seems. Download an ejuice app and its pretty much idiot proof (as proven by me :D)

it's made from strawberry and raspberry with a hint of menthol or ice cool I think, have a clue of how much of each though

Someone else might find a cheaper kit for you but this is what I mean....

    http://www.thealchemistscupboard.co.uk/product/mixing%20kit

Add in a couple more concentrates and you are all set.

This app does all the work for you once you know what strength nicotine and what ratio of PG/VG you want. (if you don't know just copy whatever jucie you usually use).

To give you an idea of how easy it is here's a sample of some recipes from the same website

What do people make of the starter kit from picknmix diy in Wexford. They have 250ml bottles too. Has anyone tried them. I haven't started mixing yet but I'd like to

Everything liquid.Co.uk have a 40% discount on their mixmaster range using code MIXNOW

Mmmm been looking at Everything Liquid for some diy supplies, well at least 1 liter bottles of PG, VG and NIC as they seem to have the best prices for bulk. They don't seem to great for flavors though.

Anyone used their stuff? And what shipping method/cost for Ireland?

They can't ship directly to ireland without using the expensive 25 quid international shipping, got to to with the nicotine I think, so I use parcel motel and just pic up the stuff in the local petrol station.
I recently got their gold bundle kit and it was only 4.50 extra for parcel motel.
They have loads of different flavours so not sure what you were looking for

    Hey JH

Thanks for that - yeah looks like Parcel Motel saves the day (again!). How come it was €4.50 as I thought PM was €3.95 for a parcel.

Looks nice might get some of that myself!

Supposedly not good for the juice, if we ever again get any sunshine in this country, window steeping is good.
You just leave you bottles where they will get some sun for a few hours and give them the odd shake, then stick them back in the press for a couple of days to do their thing, cuts steeping time way down for custards, creams ect.

I have a mix of that lemon sherbet steeping for about two weeks now and while it doesn't taste like I thought it would I can see where they are coming from . Anyway , back into the dark with it for another week .

Black n Blue from T Juice is basically blackjack with menthol and is ready to go almost straight away and seems to peak after only a day or 2. I'd imagine your blackjack is similar.

Just vaped some home brew strawberry milkshake and very nice it is, mmmmmm.

I only steeped 3 days and couldn't wait any longer. That's the problem with diy juices, the waiting is hell.

There is a little inconsistency in the flavour intensity due to mixing skills. I'm thinking of getting a frother for this but the whip part on these things look a little big.

    Any tips for frother use?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,555 ✭✭✭youdipstick

The frother is only about 30mm in diameter,I got some sealed jars with a 50mm opening from a pound shop, use the container until your ready to transfer it to bottles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 930 ✭✭✭jousting with chairs

I use a frother for larger mixes but for my smaller test mixes I modified one to fit into 10ml bottles.

The one on the left had a propeller on it (€3 Homestore and more) so I just pulled it off and bent the end with a pliers.[IMG][/img]t2ukOga.jpg

Finally got around to doing a decent mixing session. Made up a load of different juices tonight, mostly copying brand named juices Ive liked...

Breakfast at Teleos "The Milk" and "The Crunch"
2 separate attempts at replicating Wingnut's Nut Juice
    House of Liquids Frozen Orange

    The waiting game begins now!

These 2 are very similar so I'm not fully convinced they are in fact 2 different juice recipes! (I only tasted The Milk so cant judge by smell)

    Breakfast at Teloes The Crunch

    Berry Crunch (TPA)
    Brown Sugar (TPA)
    Sweet Cream (TPA)

    Vanilla Custard (TPA)

    PG/VG-ratio: 12/80

    The Milk
    Berry Crunch (TPA) 8%
    Brown Sugar (TPA) 1.5%
    Cream Fresh (FA) 2%
    Custard (FA) 3%
    Sweet Cream (TPA) 2%

    VG 80%PG 20%

The Frozen Orange was one I did up myself. I think I might have ruined what I was going for with the addition of peppermint. Cant get an orange smell off it at all. I'll leave it for a couple of weeks and try it then...

    FA Juicy Orange 10%
    FA Menthol 5%
    FA Peppermint 3%

    3mg nic @40/60 PG/VG

Can anyone recommend an online store thats reasonable for juice concentrate? Had a go at mixing single flavours last week, but the shop I bought them in are € 6 per 10ml. Even charged me € 5 each for 100ml of PG / VG, which I've since discovered is much cheaper everywhere else. Think they seen me coming!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 445 ✭✭8mm

Here's a way to quickly test flavours (thanks to Drusilla V):

Take 10ml of water (distilled water if you have it as tap water may add off flavours) and mix one drop of a flavouring and swish it around in your mouth. Its amazing how much it helps to "learn" what a flavour tastes like and gauge how potent the flavouring is. If it needs two drops I know its a weaker flavour that will need to be a higher percentage. If its too strong I know it will require less. Its really helped me make better mixes. True, the flavour, once mixed in pg/vg changes a bit, but not as much as you'd think.

It works remarkably well in translating into the vaping experience of the flavours. What I like about it is that you don't have to mix/dump so much and no need to clear out atomizers in between flavours etc. I find that if I make a few batches to test flavours, after a while they kind of all run into each other if I don't really clean out the atomizer. No need for that with this method. It's quick, easy and accurate.

I have also have mixed two or three flavours in water to see how they go together. Its great because you find out how they work without wasting a batch. If it doesn't work you dump it into a sink and try again. No atomizer issues, no wasted pg/vg/nic.
