Blanket spread urea here on the Tuesday after June bank holiday. Would not have spread the previous week due to lack of moisture. Excellent response. Kept us in grass until now. If we get enough of the forecasted rain over the next few days I might go again but we have a good bit of N spread at this stage.

Did exactly the same. Urea was in yard for a week and I didn't go till rain. Kept us out of jail. Spreading 1*18/6/12 today, hadn't the balls to orde urea in case no rain came

Think there is a night milker down here in Cork somewhere.. product is branded slumber milk, or sleepy milk or something?.

Given that the lights in the parlour are f***d and the rooflights havent been cleaned for a generation I reckon all my milk would qualify in any case. Have noticed some of the cleverer cows eyeing up my headtorch and looking pensive.

Re urea took the plunge here this year, auld lad wasn't easily swayed but got him there in the end, will certainly be using it in future, after first cut spread some leftover can on silage ground due to not a lot of rain on the radar and went with urea on grazing with covers. Most the grass wouldn't be ryegrass and has responded no problem to it, which is one of the things I was worried about.

How do you work units of fertiliser into kgs?
Also is there any fert on the market that has nitrogen and k in it no phos?

Kgs per hect × 0.8 = units per acre

    You can get 19 0 15 (+/-) sulphur.

    Is 1 bag Can 27 units so it's 50×.27 = 13.5 kgs of N in a bag of Can ?

Download the Tegasc app chief and get your n and p allowances from your dero plan and simply in put what fert u buy on it every time u purchase and it deducts from your allowance stating what % you've left to stay within limits

Dad was saying there this evening there was only ever 3 fertilisers he spread in 90s and early 00s
    pasture sward
    0 7 30
and leifi boost or leifi start
and then when the nitrates came in he got confused with it and didn't know how much he could spread so played it safe. Ended up we were only spreading half what we could

I reckon that's happening to alot still

Will it know if your telling lies?? Will it be wondering why you buy 20 tonne of calf meal in august??

Fields low in p and k (very low) will grow nothing with straight nitrogen. Growth is limited by the nutrient that in lowest supply .

One thing we know now is not to skimp on them again. The phosphorus was 90% of our fertility issue here.
Whole farm should be at 2 7 next yr so there will be no chance on getting away with spreading a little less N alike we did at times so far this yr if I want make enough silage and not have to buy any in or take on extra land

Took the cidrs out of the cows last night. Will I do fixed time ai or will I wait for them to come into heat themselves.
much of a success rate doing fixed time ai?
would I be waiting long if I let them come around themselves?

At this stage do fixed time I'd say. I think with cows it's 50% success rate at fixed time. Is it at 48 and 72 hrs for cidr? They should come in heat in that period anyway so if one comes bulling work away as normal. No harm to ask ai man what he has done elsewhere

Both. If they haven't shown fixed time AI.
