Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I like all countries. They're all very pretty.

Saudi Arabia - one of the biggest sources of human misery on the planet.

    F*ck them.

Love/hate - China, if you are family it's all good, if not, nobody gives a fcuk about you, they will step over your bloodied body after a beating/robbing/car bumping.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

I could say North Korea, Russia, Iraq, etc, but none of these effect my life to a great extent, so I will say northern Ireland, by and large a pretty miserable bunch with probably an above average number of psychotic mental cases and bigots.

    For me.

Cyprus was there once , sold it's soul to British tourists and is an awful kip. Don't get how people like it apart from the weather.

The Netherlands.....yea yea, I now all you Boardsies think the Dutch are cool, easy going and laid back and you can smoke a joint etc, but I lived there for 7 years and they are the most uptight, dullest and conservative society I've come across.
Also, the scenery is the most boring ever. All the towns are the same as well, every house made from redbrick with white interiors (as the Dutch all do everything the same).
Was glad to get out of it and only visit it now with the wife sporadically.

India is huge though. There's many different aspects to it. It's not like Saudi.

I just did some travelling in SE Asia. I can honestly say that thailand, from bangkok going south, is the worst place there. It's tourist central. Very little culture and everyone is trying to rip off the farang. That's not to say that there isn't beautiful scenery or some amazing sights, i's just that everyone tries to rip you off. Dozens of times every day you end up haggling when someone tries to change you multiple times the going ate. It starts at the airport when a taxi driver tries to charge you 1500 baht for a trip that takes 200 baht and it keeps going.

    1. Israel - Can't think of any redeeming qualities, their government ministers have said some shocking things about Arabs. The blockade of Gaza is brutal & their gearing up to "mow the lawn" as they say in Israel which means kills lots of civilians - women, kids, old people, maybe militants doesn't really matter. And something like 85 90% of the population supports this policy. Plus lots of other things like the West Bank, there terrorism against the British authorties right before they became a state (i.e hanging two British officers, blowing up the King David hotel ), expelling 700,000 Arabs from the land when they became a state. The few Jewish people in Israel who oppose these policies are some of the bravest people on earth.

    2. North Korea - Travel Guide - "And here we have state of the art hospital & technology for hospital" tourists - "were are all the patients?" Travel Guide - "Ehhhhhh And over here we have paintings of war against America, opps light gone out blame American's " "I Love The Leader repeat 15 times a day"
Talk about Orwell's 1984 coming to life.

3.USA - Done so many horrible things since WW2. Vietnam , Iraq, Central & Souht Americs plus the amount of coups they've orchestrated is unbelievable

Apart from Israel (obvs), I'd say Saudia Arabia. Backwards doesn't begin to describe that place.
Be careful with lies like that about Saudi Arabia. They might behead you.

In gonna go with U.A.E. As well. I get dragged there (usually Dubai) for conferences and sometimes have long layovers there when flying to Asia for work and I dread it every single time. Horrible, soulless, vapid people in a horrible, soulless, vapid country.
And one of the most confusing airports on earth with extremely unhelpful staff.

1500? Oh they must like you. The last time I was there they tried to charge me 4500 for an 8 min journey. I just stood there loudly laughing at him.

It's true though..it's one of the worst countries I've visited in terms of people ripping off tourists. Actually, taxi drivers in most developing countries are terrible scammers. Always learn how to quickly calculate the local currency back into Euro so you know what you are paying. Get an app for your phone to do it if needed.

Parts of Cambodia, child sex being so open. Western guys in cafes and bars organising/grooming young girls. Accommodation having posters requesting you not to bring underage girls back for sex. Awful.

Ah here, Thailand is a lovely place.
As long as you have a sensible head you wont get ripped off.

    For me it's India.
Rudest society I've ever come across and very aggressive towards women.

At the moment for me it's Ghana.

Here at the moment and I've been glued to the jacks for hours, it's 6am and I actually think I've shat out most of my own body weight at this stage. If you're ever mouldy drunk in West Africa DO NOT chance roasted goat from the side of the road.

North Korea, sure who would want to live in a concentration camp, led by a crazy an with a ridiculous hairstyle and who has nuclear bombs.
Hopefully it disappears off the map sometime soon like the country of East Germany did where the women who played sport grew beards...

Of course, for all i know switzerland is lovely and i was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. You can never really judge and entire country

Wasn't fond of Tunisia at all. I can see all the advertisements in Dublin about 'Come to Tunisia!' and I cringe every time. The place is run down, the tourism industry has taken a nosedive since its troubles and there's no maintenance in many areas as a result. Also the people are pretty unpleasant to deal with.

I liked some aspects of Cuba, but thought just about everything else was a hustle.

Very few locals engaged you in conversation unless there was an angle, and the prostitution was pretty barefaced.

Do locals in Ireland engage in conversation? I live in a Bray a fairly big urban town (Yes, the one were the great Seamus Costello is from.) & I've never had strangers come up to me & starting talking about anything to me. For me that would be a 1+ for Cuba, I wouldn't want a load of people coming over to me speaking to me in a language I don't understand, I'd get rather scared & runaway.

    >>Haggling << Haggling is a way of life all over Asia ,but you can avoid it by going to fixed price shops .
    >>it starts at the Airport << next time go to the official taxi stand where you will either get a fixed price or a taxi with a meter.

Brussels is grand, plenty to do.

One country id never return to is vietnam, the scamming and harrassment is way worse than anything i experienced in any other country in se asia, people are very aggressive and everyone looks angry. Was lookimg forward to going there for years but halong bay is filthy, Hanoi had a bad vibe about it, and many of the resort cities on the coast are packed with Russian mafia.

    Disappointing hole of a place

Its not that bad my father lived in Riyadh during the 80's and while it was strict the crime rate was almost non existent and quality of life was very reasonable for most people, so hardly that bad compared to a lot of other african and middle eastern countries..and that was also during the 80's it is more relaxed and westernised now
