    Technically you could argue the "Greater Dublin Area:

    I totally agree..But if i want to go see a band...i go see a band and pay for it there etc etc.

    But theres so many things tagged onto these that the cycling is becoming almost secondary..like they have to lure people in with the promise of some tasty burger, that will taste better after youve done 100K.

    Its like the events are trying to compete with each other... bit like weddings!

    What do we get for our entry fee
    All finishers will receive a medal, we will provide 3 refreshment stops and the first 1000 entries will receive a jersey.
     
    Will there be a finisher medal
    Yes
     
    Is there a charity involved?
    No, we have no nominated charity but you are free to raise money for your own charity
     
    Is there a max capacity?
    Yes, 5000 participants
     
    Are/Where are Food stops?
    We have 3 food stops along the course,
    • Swords
    • Garristown
    • National Sports Arena.
                                                      
    Will there be road closures?
    The event will have partial road closures in the city.
     
    What's the earliest time you can start?
    Subject to final agreement the event will start at 8:00am with a waved start.
     
    What's the latest time you can start? 
    At the minute the latest time you can start will be 08:24
     
    Will the route be marked/signposted?
    Yes
     
    Can you turn up and register on the day, or do you have to do it in advance on the website?
    Entries will only be accepted in advance through the website, which will close 1 week before the event. Registration will take the day before the event.
     
    Are helmets compulsory? 
    Yes
     
    What if I get a puncture, do I need to bring my own spare tubes/puncture repair kit?
    Yes, you will need to be able to fix your own punctures but services crews will be on hand.
     
    Will there be food and entertainment at the end?
    Yes

    Where can I park?
    Important information on parking will be posted before the cycle

    Same here, I only received a confirmation email about it. We may receive information about this closer to September 13.

    I don't think its feasible to dispatch 5000 riders in 24 minutes in an orderly and safe manner.

    The Etape du Tour schedules 1000 riders every 15 minutes.

    5000 x 40 - no charity = 200000. cha ching for the organisers. over a 100 km course not many marshals will be needed and i'm sure there will be plenty of volunteers.
    5000 cyclists in 24 minutes will make for a slow first 10k.

    the shorter routes would be nice for bringing the younger kids looking to get into cycling

    in fairness, the E40 entry applies only to the 100km route and given the leisure nature of the event id imagine there will be a strong entry for the shorter cheaper route.
