    Hi,
Just wondering if there's any fellow freshers out there looking to get to know each other, get the awkwardness outta the way before the semester starts!
I'm hoping to study enterprise computing! :)

Well, you're certainly eager. The Leaving Cert hasn't even started yet :P

You won't find many future first year's around here this early in the year. Any prospective students will probably still be lurking around the Leaving Cert forum.

    Anyway, best of luck!

    Thanks! :)

So, you're not from D13 then? :pac:

It might be cheaper to live away from DCU. If you know a few people going to DCU, maybe try to rent a house/apartment together within a commutable distance. It's hard because some landlords may not take students and rental prices are crazy but it might be worth it. Obviously, you'd have to factor in the time and cost of commuting. €20 a week for Dublin Bus with a student Leap card.

Yeah I'm coming up from Cork and none of my friends are going to college in Dublin so I'm completely on my own up there! I was going to post in the DCU accommodation page on Facebook but a lot of them seem like second and third years renting out rooms I don't think it's for incoming first years to post into haha

No harm in replying to some of the posts and/or posting your own, they might be happy to take you.

Renting in Dublin is very expensive at the moment and it can be difficult to get somewhere decent without paying an absolute insane amount. Drumcondra has a ton of student houses and you might be lucky to get a good deal there. Dead handy for DCU too, particularly if you're up the North end. Santry, Glasnevin, Phibsborough all good areas for a cheap/free commute too. Just keep looking at Daft but you might be a bit early in the year yet. Landlords often rent out student houses for short-term over the Summer so a lot of properties won't appear until around August.

Can vouch for what Konata just said here. Went house hunting on Thursday, and got offered very poor properties, many properties atm are for summer let only, as the landlords appear to be holding the property for other students for the coming academic year. Best to wait a week before Leaving Cert results come out.

But beaware, the later you leave searching for a house, the dearer the rent may be, and the more pressure there will be on you!

If your looking for accommodation for DCU, refer to this Facebook page. Lots of people post up with vacancies and such. I would imagine it will get very busy after the LC officially ends. And your most welcome cab

Is it just me or is this whole thing a little odd. Just meet everyone when you get to college the usual way, no need for this lark. Unless you're looking to plant some seeds to get the ride early in college:pac::pac:

I know it's a bit early but some Mature Students already got their acceptance letter from DCU, so anyone who knows that they'll go to DCU CA can join this group : DCU Computer App's 2015-2019.

Ah I think its helpful for shy people who'd like to know a few people before it all kicks off! It's overwhelming enough so anything helps! :)
