Absolutely vile. Surely not random though?

There is something deeply wrong with people who think it is ok, or can justify, harming a baby who is just weeks away from been born. Really sickening.

Surely couldn't just be a random attack tho, could it?

    Not likely. Seems personal.

What a bewildering maze of scapegoating I've just waded through.

    MOD NOTE

THIS IS NOT A THREAD ON ABORTION. Any more mention of that topic here and there will be a ban.
Please show some respect, a woman was beaten and as a result has lost the child she was carrying.

Absolutely no doubt this was a targetted attack. The nature of the attack itself is far too specific; there was clearly a goal of ending the pregnancy rather than anything else.

I'm going to guess that there was either some religious/cultural aspect to it (she or the father were "too religious" for a child out of wedlock), or some revenge aspect to it.

I'd be amazed if it was.

Probably true but Peckham isn't all nice hipster cafes some parts are still really rough, it could be gang associated too rather than the religious/cultural angle.

That poor woman. I hope she gets the help and support she needs at a time like this.

I have to say that my first thought is that it was carried out by someone who didn't want to be a dad.

That's what I thought too. I'm really upset after reading this article, I'm pregnant at the moment and it's such a disgusting thing to imagine. The poor poor woman

What an absolutely disgusting and vile attack. I am devastated for the lady involved and her poor baby. I cannot begin to imagine the pain.

+1 boom bap. This issue is nothing to do with abortion. nor is it anything to do with the IRA.

Where is the baby's father in all of this? I think the silence on that one says a lot. I wouldn't be half surprised if he or his family had some part in it. It might have been some honor killing thing or something, who knows what goes on in their culture.

Oh I agree it has nothing to do with the IRA.

I was referring to the sweeping generalisations that people like to engage in after incidents like this. When we decide to target all Africans or Muslims for appalling atrocities carried out on the streets of the UK, we might reflect that that was once our reputation, and most of us didn't like it.

    Whose culture would that be?

Lets not forget that as well as kicking an unborn child to death, the person or persons responsible have left that poor woman in a critical condition. I don't know how anyone even begins to start getting over something like this, it's a life changer. :(

he sounds like a real charming individual.
I'm not trying to sound harsh here, but what in God's name was she doing with a piece of sh*t like that ???

Bollocks. The woman was at 32 weeks. Find me a single post anywhere on this board, at any point in the last 10 years, where someone condones abortion at that stage. You won't find it. There are no pro choice people that advocate for abortion at that late stage.

Every single pro choice person I know, both on and off boards.ie, would be appalled by the attack that occured.
By that measure, had this assault happened at 12 weeks the crime would have been less heinous

Her choices, while poor/niave, are not criminal. She bears no responsibility.

I think you'll find my post was more relevant to the thread than what's been posted before.

    You are correct.

The response you recieved, particularly from a moderator, surely merits an apology ?

The initial report was pretty clear on the facts surrounding the attack...

    http://www.rte.ie/news/2015/0617/708880-pregnant-woman-loses-baby-after-street-attack/

The young woman attacked is black, and her attackers are black.
She was approached by two men who pushed her to the ground and continually kicked and stamped on her stomach.

The suspects - who are described as black and in their 20s - then ran off.

This response,to a very valid, factual reading of the article underlines all too clearly, why savagery such as this, permeates through our society....
Pickarooney: Ah, everyone was wrong. It's a thread about 'the blacks'

So I'd suggest that in this particular case,it is Pickarooney that is "wrong" rather than imagined hordes of racists searching the streets for negativity to post ?

Yep,seeking to minimise the savagery of this attack by insinuating a racist motive to the poster, who had made a pertinent point...
Frostyjacks: A shocking case, but I can't say I was shocked to learn that the attackers were black. No doubt this woman had 'disrespected' the baby's father somehow. They have a serious problem with misogyny in their culture; women are seen as a man's property, to do with as he pleases. Look at the spate acid attacks in Britain as well. They've imported many good things from the Caribbean, but this Yardie culture has to be wiped out. I just don't see anyone in the black community with the courage to tackle it, because to suggest there's a criminal element amongst black males would be political suicide.

    The flippant response....
Pickarooney: Ah, everyone was wrong. It's a thread about 'the blacks'

In this particular case, thats exactly what it is about...not White Irish....Yellow Asians......Brown Indians or people in Pierrot Suits, but Black people,a reported fact which cannot be airbrushed or otherwise censored out as if it does not exist.

Pointing this out,and attempting to focus readers interest and concerns on some fanciful imagined, racist intent, attempts to take away from the seriousness of the attack on Malorie Bantala and her unborn child.

Why would anybody wish to do this ?

It's just no need to post abortion crap in a thread discussing a horrible assault, one has nothing to do with the other.

I agree very strongly with the two posts above.

I'm very proactively and vocally pro-choice.

I felt so sick reading about this. Fuck, I can't even imagine that poor woman's experience. Just, why. :( Who the fuck would do such a thing to an innocent baby?

Because by 32 weeks, it is a baby. I remember being pregnant, and reaching the 23/24 week mark, and knowing that - if I went into labour there and then - the baby inside me had some tiny chance of surviving and thriving outside of my body. As I counted the weeks going on, I grew more and more confident ... by 32 weeks, I knew that, if I went into labour right then, with the proper medical care I'd probably have a healthy baby. I felt him moving, I felt his limbs and head, I felt him positioning himself ready for birth several weeks in advance, I saw his face; his lips and eyes and nose on the 3D scan. I loved him.

I've had a couple of chemical pregnancies (i.e. very early miscarriages) and an ectopic pregnancy. It wasn't nice. But they were all within the 4-8 week zone, and it was completely different. I wouldn't have considered them to be "babies", they were unsuccessful pregnancies.

The idea of anyone even bringing abortion into the equation when we're talking about - well, what I would consider the murder of a baby with a real chance at life - it actually really weakens the anti-choice cause, that they'd consider the two issues in the same discussion.

    Nobody sought to "minimise" anything.

If you'd like to point out what "black" or specifically Afro-Caribbean culture has to do with this sort of attack, that would be a start.

    I disagree.
Pickarooney: Ah, everyone was wrong. It's a thread about 'the blacks'

That response read, and still reads to me as one intended to divert attention from the savage attack which the thread is about.

In this case the victim was black
In this case, both assailaints were black.

That's as much of a "start" as you can get.

    That response (..............)can get.

    Nobody tried to minimise anything.

The person sought to link race/culture with the attack. What is the link that you deem to justify the remark? A straight answer, please
