People on boards.ie regularly refer to unborn children as a clump of cells.

I happen to agree. The mother's view is paramount, and I didn't claim otherwise.

It's the dogmatic insistence that the unborn is a mere clump of cells that I have a problem with.

At an very early stage they are a clump of cells. This child was nearly fuarking due, there is a biiiig difference there. Your argument about abortion is not relevant to this thread, please please please don't drag this thread into a thread about abortion because there is loads of places on here you can discuss this.

    Surely you jest?

You started a thread about an attack. By your first reply within in the thread you were soapboxing about abortion. It was pretty low in here already.

    You have problems.

There is indeed. I find your position very sensible; I only wish all pro-choice people agreed with it.

How was there soapboxing about abortion in the first reply? The lines are severely blurred on your end.

I thought this was a thread about a pregnant woman who got brutally attacked and beaten?

Point being this thread is about a horrible attack. Go argue abortion in the abortion thread.

It is just that but this baby was obviously wanted by the mother which makes it harrowing.

Go argue abortion in the abortion thread.
    Are you moderating this thread?

The answer to that question is No.

I am simply questioning when an unborn is suddenly a "baby".

This child was obviously wanted. We all agree it was a baby. Right?

At least Scotland Yard said they are treating it as akin to murder. It's pretty bad though that they have included her name and the daily mail have photos up of the woman. I just can't understand how 2 people could be so cruel.

Shall we ask whether 'cultural sensitivities' had any part in this?

    Obviously you are.
Read the thread title. Read the first post.
It's pretty obvious that this is a thread about a vile attack on a pregnant woman and her unborn child by pure scum.
It's a million miles from an abortion thread.

It doesnt seem to me that that is the thread's purpose. I could be wrong.

Where in the above posts did anyone argue it wasn't a baby? This is not a thread on abortion, this is a thread on a horrible attack.

I am not moderating this thread but that doesn't make you right.

You know I wish I could say I'm shocked by this attack. But every day you get up and turn on the news and just when you think people can't get any more evil you hear this. This is a horrible evil attack on a young girl and her completely innocent unborn baby. What kind of sub human scum does this.

This is a fairly new thread. Nobody said it occurred in this thread; rather, it is common on threads on AH regarding the unborn for people to argue that unborn children are mere clumps of cells, or to deny that they are 'babies', or to deny that they have mothers

Orindarily. many people prefer to believe that the unborn may not be babies, and that they may not have "mothers".

So...... what you are saying is you were the first poster on this thread to bring up the abortion topic?

Please go to the abortion thread and argue your point there.

No interested in being a moderator and I'm not even trying to moderate. It's just no need to post abortion crap in a thread discussing a horrible assault, one has nothing to do with the other.

Lets get straight to the point… how many humans were directly assaulted, in your view?

Bollocks. The woman was at 32 weeks. Find me a single post anywhere on this board, at any point in the last 10 years, where someone condones abortion at that stage. You won't find it. There are no pro choice people that advocate for abortion at that late stage.

Every single pro choice person I know, both on and off boards.ie, would be appalled by the attack that occured.

Stories like this make me want to move to a remote forest and live there until I die

A shocking case, but I can't say I was shocked to learn that the attackers were black. No doubt this woman had 'disrespected' the baby's father somehow. They have a serious problem with misogyny in their culture; women are seen as a man's property, to do with as he pleases. Look at the spate acid attacks in Britain as well. They've imported many good things from the Caribbean, but this Yardie culture has to be wiped out. I just don't see anyone in the black community with the courage to tackle it, because to suggest there's a criminal element amongst black males would be political suicide.

The comparison with abortion is nuts. It's like saying surgery and stabbing are the same because they both involve cutting with a knife.

Whether the mother submits and assents to the procedure is rather very crucial in defining its legality.

We should also be careful about the cultural references. It's not long ago people blew up kids in British streets, people going for a pint etc. etc. purporting to do so for Ireland.

This is what I mean, tiptoeing around the issue instead of tackling it head on. They have a misogynistic gang culture that is poisonous. But the cops in England are afraid to stop and search them in case they get accused of racism. Much better to leave them on there merry way.

You are quoting my post in which I referred to IRA violence, so by "they" do you mean us Irish?

    I don't think that's accurate.
