Ring a few agents for different factory's. Would expect that he is worth at least 3/kg if he has a bit of flesh on him he should kill about 55%

+1 Let us know how you get on. If you have pedigree papers there might be 5/10 cent more to be got.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

    Papers worth more?
Be careful On price that fat score is not attached as stock bulls dont do fat score without lots of feeding

Would I be right in saying heifers are about 4.30\35 at the minute

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,239 ✭✭✭Willfarman

4.30 is the height of it unless you're travelling with a load.

Ya not sure what breeds though, might be only lim and aa, think it's on ped lim cows too. They have a poster up in the payment office.

He'd want to be at least 2= for fat cover.

3.20 for a stock bull in Roscrea a few weeks ago just over 600kgs dead asked before if cut for low fat scores and said no and sure enough no cut both dawn and aibp local and no budge over 2.80 even when I was offerung a half load of well fleshed heifers as well to sweeeten deal do go
My reckoning it was worth E240 to go to roscrew with him

€4.60 flat for mixed double of HEX bullocks and heifers

(not mine unfortunately, sold some of them as stores)

There's a general expectation that prices will shoot up after lads put cattle to grass, cos they won't let them away until grass is gone, I still stick to my prediction of 450euros by end June/ July. Factories are trying but failing to hold mart prices for thier feedlots, who need replacements for the cheap stock they bought last autumn, but farmers are now recouping some of those losses from the feedlots and about time too. Next farmer buyer is taking a punt , with no guarentees , but where else can he turn , cows are dear, calves are mental, heifers are hot, sheep are on par with liquid gold! What else is a finishing farmer meant to do?

Quote from February post-still confident it will get there....any other predictions?

Saw this yesterday thaught it strange. Last of the shed cattle are gone. Young cattle have being keeping the kill up. I think cattle will be slow to come off grass if prices continue to rise. Think we will see a good base price for rest of year 4.2 and above as lonf as farmers refure to be panic'ed

any merit in export testing and showing in a mart next month to entice northern factory buyers?

Do ya reckon Larry and his merry band of apostles will drop the prices much due to the recent news? Especially for cull cows/older stock?

They can't get enough cattle at the moment so can't see much of a drop
