I think it's becoming quite clear now whose missus reads here and whose doesn't. TRR & PM - ye're very brave there - obviously neither missus reads what ye write here. Shels - think your missus might be writing it :p:p

Edit - If our grammar mod reads that he'll have a field day ;)
If grammar mods read any of my post is have a life time ban.

Just the 4 beers with no running tonight. Decided to try and drink them with a short gap to simulate a race.
Was just on 330 ml beers so will be a step up on race day.

    Beer 1 11 seconds
    30 second recovery
    Beer 2 13 seconds
    30 second recovery
Beer 3 18 seconds foamed up a bit and almost drowned.
    30 second break
    Beer 4 14 seconds
After that if I had run I would have puked or worse.

Think if I can get the drinking right on the night I might have a shot at breaking 10 minutes but the running will be the hard part. Need to make sure to keep the heart rate low on the run and maybe run about 9 minute pace for 400's.

 Wow that's some international class skulling there shels. I expect you to be the yellowfeather style leader this year ;)

Similar to last time,to be honest I've been trying with water the last two days so it's ok to do when not running. Last time I was planning on 15 seconds mooseheads but 3rd took nearly 50 seconds. running to fast will be the problem even paced is the way to go.
feel a bit **** now to be honest

I was talking to TRR tonight about the prizes.
There are 5 prizes in total and I think we both agreed one should be awarded to the first female, regardless of overall position.
Now there are no females registered to compete at the moment, but can this revelation tempt a few out of the woodwork? Remember the title of national Beermile champion is also on the line, there might never a better chance to be a national athletics champion.

I'm not home till Sunday otherwise would def give this a go, am laughing my socks off here at all the Training' going on....sounds like serious stuff & I thought it was just a bit of fun

Have you decided on a costume yet ??

Dr Q the ****ing prick has volunteered an Arsenal jersey. Disgusted.

That said - if anyone coming wants to bring any other costume / silly thing for me to wear I will also wear that. Could even do a costume change at each beer stop if it came to it. I'm in your hands folks.

Is there a designated film crew this year :)? Won't make the run but looking forward to the video.

I vote Arsenal too - this has to hurt and if it's not to be the mankini .....

The ultimate of course would be a photo of you in the Arsenal jersey on your facebook page - a step too far ???? :P

Yeah, sadly I don't think I'm going to make it either, just have too much on on Saturday including a leaving do that I completely forgot about that evening.

Definitely doing it next year though!

What entertainment. TRR I was wiping tears away with your training but you are really not selling this for the Ladies.

Sat plans all up in the air but may tag along with BG if she is still going. Was also supposed to go to Sinnotts on Sat night but then realised it was actually to watch football and then frighteningly enough it was mentioned here. Am not sure football fans and runners stinking of moosehead was what I ever thought a Sat night in town would be for me.

    Best known effort: 7:21.0

The Chocolate-Milk Mile (48 oz. chocolate milk, 4 quarters)

I'm the same but can't make it anyway. There was discussion about this a few pages back. The exile said he saw a chocolate milk mile once & it wasn't pretty. Think the consensus at that stage was that you could drink anything carbonated although the discussion was in relation to me & I wasn't a threat even without the beer  You on the other hand ......:)

Thank you LeCheile. Both my races done by 3pm. Loads of time to eat post race and still starve myself after to have a fully empty stomach come 7:30.

Another training session tonight, after my regular training.

And I would rather be last of 10 than 25 :)

Bet you won't come last. The beer mile a unique event. It's not a drinking contest and not quite a running event. Anything can happen. ANYTHING! I didn't find it hard last year but feeling that I am in for a big shock come Saturday!

+1 I beat Alexander Rowe by about 20 secs in a beer mile in Melbourne. Rowe is Australian 800m joint record holder with 1:44.40, and a World Semi Finalist in Moscow. He was ahead of me until the final beer when he took about 2 minutes to get it down. Only in the beer mile can talentless grinders like myself defeat world class athletes. Easily the biggest scalp of my running career.

No sign of TRR today - wonder has the missus taken away his boards access since she found the Moosehead in the fridge. Maybe he'll be grounded on Saturday - that might change things

Worryingly his training sounded like it took place in the kitchen. This I'd imagine didn't go down well.

First ever bottle of moosehead being drank at the moment. Have to say. I kind of like it :)
