I got Oven Pride in SuperValu before. It's around a fiver.

    Tesco have it. http://www.tesco.ie/groceries/Product/Details/?id=253841037
Aldi have one, although I'm not sure if it's an occasional one-off offer or permanent, called Oven Brite, that's every bit as good in my experience.

I have now come to the conclusion after several disappointing dishes that chicken is not a good choice for the slow cooker.... i think it best cooked for perhaps a time limit of 1-2 hours?

You need an auld tough chicken - but there aren't Many about- most chicken is less than 3 months old -

I've got a recipe that works well for me. I've posted it in the slow cooker recipes thread :)

That Ovenpride Oven Cleaner stuff really is magical. I was dreading the job of cleaning the oven but this stuff is just amazing. It doesn't even smell.

I know I shouldn't get so excited about a clean oven, but I can't help but look in amazement at my handy work! :D

Thanks Bazmo. I've had a packet of OvenPride sitting looking at me everytime I opened the cupboard under the sink for the last six months. Job done! :)

The oven liners regularly show up in Aldi / Lidl - absolutley awesome - never need to clean base of oven.

I use biological clothes washing liquid to clean the oven. Rub on racks. Leave in bath overnight. Rinse off in morning.

Cheap, have it already, and you don't get a smell if well rinsed.

    Oh I love it!
Stick racks in the bag, squirt some solution in, seal.
Rub a bit into the oven surfaces with a couple of drops of water. Shut door and order takeaway dinner.
Rinse off racks in bath with shower head and wipe oven clean. Reassemble and admire.
Immediately OH will proceed to grill rashers without lining the tray or the oven base with tinfoil.
    Kill OH.

For the purposes of murder, there are a number of potential defences available here. If you need more info, PM. :pac:

Possibly more annoyed about this than i should be, but Aldi have changed their winegums. They're all lighter colours and not as chewy, but worse, they've replaced the dark green appley ones with light green pear ones. Bleurgh. I always get a bag for the long drive home every few weeks. Felt a lot longer tonight with my disgusting sweets.

Tesco own brand wine gums are absolutely amazing and only about 57 cent a bag. Ive had to stop buying them because I absolutely plough through the bag in no time. Theyre in a red bag.

I've 2 sparkling ovens thanks to those who recommended Oven Pride on this thread (actually, I've one sparkling and as new, and one quite presentable but not perfect, which is still a result given the state of the second one after 10 years of use and very infrequent cleaning!), very little effort required. Highly recommend.

Got myself a spiral slicer. Don't know what to make first. Any suggestions?

I think Home Made Crisps are the first thing most people do with one of these? :) Assuming we are talking about the same thing.

Grabone or groupon. Had it on offer awhile back.

Will give them a go. Thanks. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. Lost my cooking mojo and trying anything to get it back.

Oh I saw that one actually. Let me know how you get on with it and I'll keep my eye out when it comes up again.

I'd make ribbons of carrots, courgettes, etc. and use them in stir fries. I do that anyway with a speed peeler, so it might be easier with spiral thingy.

    Oh I've got gadget envy!

If you're planning any low carb meals, it would be perfect for courgette 'pasta'

Made these orange and apricot bars t'other day. Bit on the sweet side!

Trying Meridian peanut butter as an alternative to the usual ones.

I used to make them a lot, with sultanas instead of apricots - and I'd put melted chocolate on top.

Bit of a stupid question here folks - can you use regular Flavahans porridge/oats in overnight oats, without cooking?

I am pretty sure you can, however I've a few people (trying) to tell me otherwise and that they need to be cooked?

I rarely eat porridge (can't stand it tbh!) so am looking for other ways to try it so maybe I will like it (or get to like it).

    Any help appreciated!

I have normal Flahavan's overnighting as we speak, no cooking or anything required :)

Make pancakes out of them. Ground them up in a blender 60g, 1 egg, 150ml milk.

Ya, no problem, i used to have them all the time. Maybe the texture will be off for you, i'm partial to my oats having a lot of texture, even when i do make porridge with them!

I know someone who swears by cooking them in a slow cooker on a timer - they wake up each morning to cooked porridge. As much as it would be good for you, I would hate the thought of cleaning the slow cooker though!

I tried that before and had to throw them out. There was a crusty film over the top of it. Never again. So disappointing.

Is there any trick to taking the stone out of olives? I adore them but can't stand biting around the stone *shudder*
