Same issue as you at the moment. Someone here suggested to me that it could be my tyres last week. Had them changed anyway as they were due. Noise is still there. New bearing due tomorrow. The noise on mine is louder when I turn left and pretty much gone when I turn right

That the same with my one when going around a bend right it goes away almost completly the woosh woosh woosh woosh would drive you cracked though I have radio well up all the time mines going in next week to get it done. My mother just got one done on her car too.

Bloody express lane is where I first learnt the Golf had those annoying "I'm braking really heavily so I'm going to flash my hazards for all the world to see". Was coming out of the M3 toll after Dunboyne, just passed the express barrier, decided to floor it in my shiny new acquisition and enjoy the noise. Just pass the cash booths and instantly spot a Gard standing the other side of them with a speed gun. Slammed on the brakes, cue the hazards flashing. I don't know what was more obvious the hazards or my bright red face.

    What did you get?

Mine is just a humming noise. Hoping it was the bearing tbh.

I don't think almost all cars from mid 2000's have that flashing the hazards under heavy stopping. Ah you generally wouldn't set them off too easy although I did set them off on the Megane a few weeks ago van decides to almost completely stop hard when going around a long slight bend over 100 kmh to 20 kmh I had to seriously stand on the brake pedal it's a good car to stop I discovered that day.

It says that the mondeo has that feature, but I can't for love nor money get it to work. Spent ages braking hard to try to get it to work, but no joy!

Can be difficult enough too diagnose when it's only slightly going the bearing has to be bad before it becomes obvious. Took the garage a good while to figure out which wheel was causing the problem with my one as they said its not particularily bad yet just slight.

Ecu sets of the hazards when deceleration goes over a certain value so it's not how hard you push the pedal as such more how fast your decreasing your speed.

Mine does it too, very annoying!
mine kicks in very easily, anytime the baking assist comes on.

You have to be seriously stopping I mean stuff on the passenger seat going flying it's actually a very high value you having to be deccelerating at before they go off so just braking hard wouldnt set them off if you get me standing on the brakes because you might crash into something does :pac:

    No fun then :D
Havent had it up yet, wheels all stay the same (no excessive heat)
With the window open at 100 you can't hear anything but windows closed and its groaning away...

Does the noise go away when you brake?

    Poor connection/earthing somewhere I'd say.

It was mainly a French thing initially I think. It's still not that common AFAIK.

Don't think the accord has it, I'd someone pull out in front of me from behind a parked lorry on the n3 last week and went from sixty mph to a near standstill fairly quick

    No hazards

I was thinking of adding it diy style. There's an accelerometer and a few other bits sitting around doing nothing so I thought it might be an interesting thing to pass a wet irish summer's day.

Looks like it's not a very popular feature though!!!

No, the humming is in tangent with speed so the faster I go the faster the hum and vice versa.

Hmm I've had bearings go a couple of times and the noise went away on braking iirc

I think I'm getting the itch to change again

I decided to apply an ointment to the itch. It's amazing what a slow*, calming*, gentle* drive will do for an itch.

Try put your foot on the clutch when driving. If it goes away then I'd start looking at the gearbox

In other news I sat into a fully specced Mazda CX3 today. I loved it. Mazda aren't putting a foot wrong since they released the new Mazda6 2 years ago

While I personally wouldn't go to the bother of fitting as it's ultimately a feature you will never see the benefit of on a daily basis if your board have the parts and want to do it to gain a bit of knowledge Id go for it.

I wouldn't say I hate it as as I said its not something you'll see enough for it to become annoying.

I kind of think it's funny just adds to the drama of the whole heavy braking situation you in kind of the cars way of saying what the fcuk are you at all are you trying to get both of us killed :pac:

I'd happily drive the Mazda only I've more pressing things to waste money on.

I'll likely be working with accelerometers / gyroscopes at work at some stage so a bit of practice with them in my hobby time is no harm.

Completely unrelated to cars but a funny story from today.

So I went to ikea to get some storage stuff and bits and bobs had been meaning to go for ages. But I was standing in the basement looking at something and this girl comes up to me and says sorry where would I find x y z and how do I get to the till. So I said to her to be honest I don't have a clue and she looks and says surly you should know and at this stage I was just letting it play out so I said oh well I think the tills are over that way then I said oh no actually that way as I barely knew myself I would have told her clearly if I had known but it's not somewhere in in too often.

Finally a staff member in an ikea outfit walked passed and me in jeans and a purple polo tshirt penny dropped and she goes bright red and says you don't work here do you and I was just no and then she was apologising and everything I was just laughing and thought it was rather funny.

Dude dating 101. When she initiates the conversation grab it with two big ****ing hands.
Honestly, a missed opportunity there if ever there was one.
