That seems a common mod on quite a few cars these days, seen quite a few with Porsche callipers and larger discs. Definitely worth while, you can't beat good brakes!

The brakes on the car are very good as standard but it would obviously be a great upgrade.
I'd like them for the aesthetics too!

Let's not forget that good tyres are key in braking. You could have Brembo 42 pot calipers on your 325 but if you have sh!t tyres, best of luck to ya!

well, I would disagree strongly with you there. If you drive without care or due caution you deserve everything you get

    Didn't know 42 pots were available :)

Oh i know and i always run good tyres, great brakes on it at the min and it can't overcome them!

It's only a thought for now, but a nice thought!

In fairness if i upgraded my brakes and didn't have tyres to back them up it would be a pointless investment as i couldn't use the extra breaking performance if i needed to.

Anyone know any thing about lug nuts,
I am ordering a set with a locking nut but I dont know weather i should get normal length or the long ones.

The advantage of the long ones is that the wheels wont get as damaged when removing nuts. However surely they cannot be secure? I would imagine even with a lock nut that long a thief could get a tool around it regardless of if it is a lock nut or not, anyone any experience?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,473 ✭✭✭YbFocus

I'd buy the normal ones and just be super careful man!

Does it mean you get to use bigger discs?

Found these two 2P coins from 1980 and 1996 under the carpet in the Vento.

Scumbags. I wonder would windshield cover sort that or is it restricted to just the windshield (I'm guessing not)...

All fixed up now. The Gardai had left a card on the car with a name and number to contact. I had spotted it at 4am as I came home from Dublins classiest establishment.

To be honest you really wouldn't notice a issue if your not using the car on track. You could put massive 6 pot brakes on your road car and you may not notice a huge difference. That said a decent set of pads and tyres is always a good purchase. It's amazing how good modern road cars brakes are if you even compare to 10 years ago. Having driven stock Fords,Mazda's, Volvo's on track they stand up to a huge amount of punishment with no fade or shuddering.

Not like your road car has a huge amount of down-force to help with your new massive brakes :pac:

Brakes are well adequate in fairness tis mostly for aesthetic purposes!
I am doing the nordschleife in august though!

Maybe they'll be justified there :)

Take it very very handy on the nordschleife. If you crash there (and its easy to do) it gets fierce fierce expensive. And I am not even talking about the damage to your car. Do not go out to beat any records just enjoy the moment.

Oh I'm out there to enjoy it man nothing crazy!
I know the costs and everything involved and have researched it all.
I'd like by the end of the day to go under ten mins but if it's not feasible it won't be chased!

I'm out there to say I've been on it :)

Lhe 9-5 is living again, and the whole front is now polybushed, new arb bushings, subframe/torque rod and gearbox to t rod is all polybushed, it's stiffer than an inanimate carbon rod!

I'm just happy to have a working radio again :o

Good to hear man. You going to park up the 900 now for tinkering with?
Thinking about polybushing the front of the alfa. Going from working on the mivec to the 156 you can really see the difference in the size of the bushings and wishbones. More or less golfball size wishbone bushingd on the alfa to tennis ball size on the mitsubishi.

The amount of 900's I've come across lately us unreal.

My favorite was only yesterday a 1990 red saab 900 convertible with a cream leather interior and was in fantastic condition all the way around !

It's always the way. You rarely see a particular car then someone you know gets one and all of a sudden you notice loads of them.

Girl I know got a Qashqai lately and the exact same happened. :D

    Worth close to 5 figures.

Upon further investigation they are extremely rare.

I emailed micksgarage to see if they were getting in haynes manual for megane 3 it went into print in the last few weeks can be got in the uk. I figured Id hold out if they were getting them in to make for handy delivery. Granted I wasn't expecting much back as I'm sure they got a lot of email. But they email me back the most generic copy and paste job basically said try a main dealer or breakers yard for my car part and that they don't stock it.
