Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

I'm curious as to why they would do this though.
Say what you have above is what happened, why go to the bother of getting the media involved?
I mean, its clear someone beat them up but if not the guys in the apartment, why bother going so far with it? I mean, they may be foolish/naive/dim whatever you want to call it but I dont for one second think they themselves reckon they could get away with such a tall tale.

They didnt have to say anything to anybody. They wouldnt be the first busted up girl walking around(black eyes seem to be everywhere I look lately). Nobody really asks question any more and its almost de rigour. Lets face it, it wont be the scandal of the parish.

    So why?
It would only bring them negative attention for this story NOT to be true.

I think people just dont want to believe it to be true.
For me, it sounds more fishy for it to be something else than what they said happened. Lots of bad eggs out there who just like beating women up for the giggles and thrills sadly.

    Happens all the time......
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A woman has been charged after she lied to police about being attacked and kidnapped on the West Side, police said.
Veronica Fuentes, 39, was charged with one felony count of filing a false report, police said early Friday.
Fuentes initially told police that about 8:45 a.m. Friday, a male walked up and hit her in the back of the head as she was waiting for a bus in the 2000 block of South Pulaski, police said.
She went on to tell investigators that she was then dragged into a nearby abandoned building and held against her will by three males until she was able to escape on April 14, police said.
As the investigation progressed, “Fuentes openly admitted to fabricating the story,” police said.
Fuentes, of the 8200 block of South Commercial, is scheduled to appear in bond court Friday.

It seems increasingly likely that the perpetrators may well threaten the girls, getting them to say they fabricated the whole story.

Especially if they did fabricate the story.

I alluded to it in a previous post. My personal opinion is that they were caught up in something dodgy, and don't want the 'family' to find out exactly what they were up to.

In the middle of the night. A scare at bedtime, if you will.

    I'm not saying it doesn't.
It just seems too far fetched in this case.

If it was someone they knew why not just stfu about it and suck it up?
I mean, if this was someone they knew and they did this much damage to both of them, well then imo, it wasn't the first time this known person did it to them.
What would be so different this time for them to go to all this bother?

Because they needed a story to tell somebody else that they know...

Me and the brother are heading out to get a few cans.
We'll be at the buss stop down the road from Flanagans at around half ten if any girls want to join us.
    See ya later.

Well that's the real question, isn't it? Why? The how and the who is just scenery for the public. Keeps 'em guessing like some kind of parlor game, prevents 'em from asking the most important question, why? Why where they attacked ? Who benefited? Who has the power to cover it up? Who?

Can anybody translate that Facebook gibberish?

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 5,028 Mod ✭✭✭✭G_R

Mod: I've just deleted posts which had a load of Facebook posts copied and pasted. I'm not really comfortable with people's full names being used, tbh, not to mention its a bit stalkerish to go hunting for info about them on FB. Please don't repost it, or any other info from someone's FB page. Thanks.

After reading that gibberish, I'm kind of the opinion that possibly this "mark" may have used his missus' Facebook to lure them out to new bridge. I.e. he posted as his bird looking for a straightener, they went out and him and his mate clobbered them.ties in with what they said about ringing a woman (who was apparently on loudspeaker) saying "let me hear them scream!"

I'd actually put money on it being some variation of that.

Because they're girls and they're "slutty" and something about their name in Tallaght.
People don't *think* it's fake by the way... they *know* it is.

    Yup,it's a tad clearer now.

Some things are best left to sort themselves out. :(

Even if this is an elaborate cover story for some less than upstanding behaviour from the girls, someone beat them up, and beat them badly. It's hard to imagine any possible justification for that.

They're black and blue and have had their heads kicked and other injuries. It's very hard to see where some are finding humour in that.

Indo now reporting that Gardai are looking for two career criminals and that blood was found in the apartment.
At around 8pm the men launched into a frenzied attack on the two young woman - tying them up and gagging them in the process.
Gardaí have confirmed that the apartment on Francis Lane, Newbridge, where the incident occurred has been sealed off.
A source revealed that when they arrived, they found that the locks had been changed, and that the men were nowhere to be found.
They also said the men, both of whom are "very well known" to gardaí, had made an attempt to clean the flat.
However, blood was found in the rented property.

Seems Gardai are taking this seriously, the two girls might have been extremely naive but I'm still not seeing why others think it is some sort of hoax

    No.
They were beaten , possibly drugged, and are still in hospital after the assault.
    Big difference from smuggling drugs.
If this happened 2 sisters from Dalkey, I think the discussion would be rather different.

It wouldn't matter where they're from, their story has more holes than a cheese grater.

    Timeline very strange.
Released from the captures at 3 pm Friday and since then the locks have been changed and flat cleaned. First I presume the locks would have to be purchased then fitted . Then the flat cleaned. When did the gardai begin to investigate?
If it was straight after the girls got to hospital then it would have been two - three hours after they were released. Usually if there is an assault and suspected sexual assault I would expect the Gardai to swoop immediately not the following Monday. Hope the girls make a quick recovery.

Just another weird detail that doesn't seem to make sense. Either because it's fishy or through piss poor reporting.

Who found that the locks had been changed?
It's being presented as something relevant to the garda investigation, but why would anyone except the tenant and the owner have keys? It's not like the gardai have keys and used them last week but couldn't open the door with them this week???

It's being implied that it happened since the incident when it's far more likely that the tenants themselves changed the locks after moving in if the owner didn't do it as part of new tenancy. Unless the owner was there last week and left themselves in with their own key?

I'm rolling with poor reporting on this particular malformed jigsaw piece.

It does sound weird as fcuk. That's the main reason. I don't think it's all fake but I do think there's probably some bit of missing information that will make sense of it all.

The whole thing could have been about a drug deal gone wrong or anything at all.

And please note, I'm not suggesting that girls deserved to get their jaws fractured, or get beaten or anything like that. I'm not basing it on how they look or anything like that. I'm just saying that how it happened sounds iffy.

Most likely in writing the article.
