Dont really get all the BPMull is "nuts buying from this dealer"

He likes the car, the garage have given him a loan of a car. He hasnt paid a penny yet either.

Its no more normal or abnormal than people on here who buy cheap cars, refuse to believe they have bought a lemon and spend 1000s every month on "preventive" or body work repairs:rolleyes: just to get their banger moving.

All sorted garage gave me service history and guess what on the same date it was serviced with them at 85k km not miles. I didn't tell him what was on the report or that I was coming so they had no way of knowing.

I looked at it again looked underneath I'm getting a great deal the car is 100 percent. It's been wheeled up on casters to the body shop today to get body work and sill repaired and the damage is not even as bad as I thought.

They are keys for it and I'll have it end of next week. They are taxing the loaner I have today too so I don't get stopped. So overall I'm happy out as they are making a lot more of an effort than I thought they were.

Good stuff - if the cars all good - and the garage is doing good by you - then no problem.

it just seemed like you were getting messed around which is frustrating

Because it looked like things were moving too slowly - and it even looked like there was an issue with the mileage - NOW SORTED.

Obviously now everything looks like its back on track - then it all now looks a tad different

    Yes, possibly.

However the important factors for me would be:

His dad knows them and has bought "10" vans in the past. There is little to no chance a dealer would risk ruining this line of revenue by selling a lemon to his son.

They gave him a loan car straight away

the pricing is very competitive and the poster is happy after having inspected the car and test driven it.

Unfortunately, mistakes and silly things can happen with dealerships like any other profession.

as you say, main thing is he has the car sorted and is happy with his purchase

Ah no infairness it did seem like they were doing nothing today up until I visited. But when I went today I looked at the car with a critical eye and I still think it's a great buy and they are going doing the few marks on the body the car was serviced last week, got a new battery and new renault mudflaps. They have actually rang a place in dublin that does the keys and he wouldn't come down to them even them giving him 3 cars to do he wouldn't come and they said to try and put a locked car on a truck and get it up there would be a nightmare. So they are ordering the keys from renault with the chasis number and the body work will be done in the mean time.

I was annoyed because I thought they were doing nothing and going to wait weeks for the other to show up. As he said it's never happened them where the keys don't turn up they normally do and he said the minute he orders the new ones the old ones will show up.

My dad did say he would have been very suprised if the car was anyway dodgy as from dealing with them he always found them straight honest people and they certainly never messed him around hence why he suggested going there in the first place plus they are very good for service parts warranty and all that side of things too. I think it was more an unfortunate situation that they are not used to bekmh in. Anyway he said that there is no issue with me keeping the other megane until mine is sorted and that they will rax it today.

Got fitted mats for the mondeo delivered today, and naturally enough, they fit to a tee. Even cover up two tears that's in the carpet in the rear. BUT the clowns didn't send any fixing clips with the mats, I've contacted them saying that they weren't included, despite it saying "drivers fixation included" on the ebay ad. They'll prob try to fob me off, or pretend to not understand what I'm saying, seeing as the seller is eastern European. Read somewhere that Ford want something like 7 yoyo per fixing. I'll wait for his reply first though.

    did you actually price ford?

got the mammy in law a set of fitted mats and fixings from ford for her mk4 mondeo, think i had change from a fifty, they were very reasonable.

Only checked Ford online and they were 40 something. These were 35 delivered and have "mondeo" etching on both front mats.

If I parked a car up at 12 pm today - how long do I have to wait - before using the min and max markings for COLD to measure power steering fluid??????.

The Corolla has two sets of markings - one for Cold and the other for hot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,903 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

it's definitely time enough to check the cold measurements now.

Nothing like a set of decent fitted mats to spruce up the interior they make such a difference over generic rubber ones. I had spare clips for them from my focus but gave them to the lad that bought it otherwise I'd have routed them out for you.

all this talk of toyota and it's cult following for "optional extras" going on lately. treated myself to one the other week, arrived today.

seen these going on enthusiast forums for €200+... i paid a fraction of that, otherwise i wouldn't have it. think it's pretty cool.

ah as i say, it came up cheap and i like it. it's fairly discreet against the grey on my car. it's kinda like these tacky yokes that used to be everywhere years ago, but a bit more real. that and i'm pretty sure +10bhp

I've been through 2 checkpoints in the last 2 days, both had cars pulled over waiting collection. My windscreen was checked both times and I was thanked and waved through. Now the thing is my tax is out since the start of the month (can't afford new clutch and tax in one month  ) is this normal?
Expected to be questioned about it at least. I'm happy about it, just wondering.
(Fwiw insurance and NCT are good till next year)

There is an unofficial months grace period where you technically have until the end of the month to pay your tax. I sometimes do it if money is tight. Dunno why I bother paying tax though. Haven't seen a checkpoint in long long time and I'm on the road everyday. If I didn't pay it though I'd run straight into a checkpoint.

It's only out 6 days! Be a right prick of a guard to give you hassle over that. I've had it 10/11 weeks out at a checkpoint before. Guard just asked is it in the post. I said it is :).

I think you generally get away with it for the first week or two but Id say when it starts to approach a month out you may be questioned I suppose it really just depends on the gaurd.

On another note two checkpoints in two days I haven't been through two checkpoints in two years and I still do a reasonable amount of driving I suppose it all depends on what part of the country your in.

I assume traffic wardens don't partake in this months grace and you could be fined or would they give you a few weeks too ?

There is definitely hot spots for them. Used to hit them on the ennis ring roads every 6 months to a year. Haven't seen one now in 2 years. 35k miles or so. Very rarely down that way now.

Friend of mine got an official warning in the post off a traffic warden the other week. No fine or anything just a warning. It was a few months out. 3/4 I think. Strange one.

I can't remember the last time I've been stopped or went through a checkpoint definitely not in the last two years and Id ive definitely been through less than five since I started driving and I'm almost 4 years on the road.

3 or 4 months is taking the piss though. It would want to be an awful prick of a Garda to do someone for a couple of weeks out. But they do exist I suppose.
