2005 Volkswagen Polo 1.9 SDI. Pure raw power.
Quite nippy to be fairly honest.
Nice spec too, electric windows, air conditioning...

    Likeable car this!

So after finding that the accord I drove on Saturday had 90,000 miles shaved off it, I reported it to carzone.
Got a reply today (reported Saturday)
    Hi Colm,

    Many thanks for your mail.

We always advise our customers to preform a Motor Check before purchasing a vehicle.

Many thanks for your mail and we will be sure to log the details of this advert on our system.

If you have any further queries please call us on 01-4490650.

    Kind regards

    Ciara

    Carzone Support Team

    Replied this afternoon

What does logging it on your system involve, will this prevent someone who doesn't do a mororcheck getting caught, or involve you contacting the gardai? Or does this mean you will do nothing that will stop this happening?
    Thanks
    Colm

They haven't replied. What's the point in having a report button?

Are you looking to change wheels or just browsing?

Spent the say on a lean maintenance/engineering visit to Toyota UK, i hate there cars but their assembly lines and maintenance structure was quite amazing.

Always wanted to see a big facility like that, very very cool.

That's where the "best built cars in the works" line came from, from a MIT study about production systems 20 years ago that Toyota Ireland deliberately took out of context and used it as a tag line to sell cars to culchies :)

This was an engine building plant so i didn't have to look at the awful cars thank god :)

They had very cool sectioned models of all the engines on display, right back to the 4e-fe!

Valuing cars - if the seller (main dealer if it makes any difference) thinks the value is a higher value - then YOU think it is - how does one establish - who is closer to being right.

Especially if the "feeling" of a car being overvalued is down to feeling a bit tight in terms of what you want to spend.

im talking about a situation where YOU CAN in fact afford the main dealer asking price - its just more then what you feel inclined to pay

You need to figure what similar ones can be bought for.
Maybe you're just not feeling it for that model of car and you're subconsciously holding out.

Can anybody pinpoint what alloys are on this passat. They're 17's, suit it quite well. Says it's a sal spec, which to my knowledge is fairly low, the grille appears to be from a higher spec.

I seen a video on facebook today on how not to wash your car, some woman power washing the inside of her car. So I went on youtube there and there are tonnes of videos of people power washing the inside of their cars.

Seem to be RS4 alloys but AFAIK they only came as 18" or 19".

Was talking to a parts guy in JKC BMW today, they have a 2005 760 in for repair under the customers own warranty. It needs a whole new engine, 6 litre V12; warranty company is paying out.

Who wants to guess how much its costing, just for the engine (converted to euro from stg, VAT inclusive)? :D

I asked the same thing. Whilst he's parts man, not so sure how well read up on faults/engine design is but said that oil was being "blown into the airboxes". Which could be interpreted as a number of things I suppose.

How on earth is the warranty company not specifying an uneconomical repair and paying out MV?

did I pass you or did you pass me?

A whole gang of us passed you in silver Octavia TDI, flat out, very late, on our way to cork so we couldn't slow down to give you a wave. :p

We only realised it was you after we had passed.

Can someone here clarify that these mats come with fixing clips for the drivers mat. I know it says something about them, but I'm not sure. I've contacted the seller. It's like drawing blood from a stone. Takes him at least a day to reply. I asked him do the fixing clips come, he replies "yes these mat will fit your cars, they look like in the pictures".

I remember the car alright. Pity u couldn't slow down, we could have had a Octavia Tdi vs 159 with knackered clutch challenge.
We will never get a chance to get this info again:P
