I genuinely can't remember the last time I've taken a bus. It must be easily 4/5 years at this stage I'd say!

I take the bus all the time to Galway, sometimes i drive sometimes I don't and then I take the train if I'm going to Dublin, but the odd time I drive there as well.

I've only ever been on a Dublin bus a handful of times.

I'd say the last time was around the same, 4/5 years. I remember it well, there was some mental one abusing the bus driver for asking her to fold up her push chair and some fellow rapping upstairs

Or the rings that are gone since!

Its actually parked up and basically wrote off now :(

    Ahh sure poor luck :)

    KARMA!

Its amazing that it all happened so quick. . .

    1. The turbo bill ran out of hand. Like almost 2k.
    2. Rings started to go almost straight away, not economical to do and basically wrote off the turbo work a fortnight in :)
    3. While driving it into the ground a jeep reversed into it while parked and destroyed it, then drove off. It wasn't me :)

    Awful luck!

The e36 has been faultless for 9k now!

I've discovered the aircoach at Dublin airport and take that to Belfast now rather than driving when. I'm working there sometimes

I always thought it was kind of standard procedure just for lights to be on in all of the cars. Where as now it's like they were making sure there was diesel/ petrol in them. Kind of good really meant I could drive the ones I liked on a bit longer without worrying about running out of fuel.

Actually on another note do salesmen normally let you off on your own during test drives only one salesman came with me in one garage rest just handed me the keys and said work away couldn't care less.

From what I can see - yes its normal for salesmen to just give you the keys to go for a drive. Amazes me how relaxed they are about it too.

13 grand Fiesta gone out - 1 grand Corolla left in the yard.......

Ive found that they will often assess the trade in while your out test driving the car they are looking to sell.

Going off topic I know - but im also amazed at how casual the "trade in evaluations" SOMETIMES seem to be.

Pretty sure my brother was offered 4 k trade in for his E39 - without the car actually been driven. Think the guy opened the door sat in it - came back offered the 4 k.

And the reason he offered the 4 k was because he couldn't get hold of his contact at a BMW dealer to underwrite it. Was fairly upfront in saying he knew bugger all about BMW values - which makes he not driving it more baffling - but hey ho - what ever floats his boat

Could have been offering SIX grand without driving had he spoken to Mr BMW dealer contact.

One of the dealers asked me did I have a full licence which is fair enough at my age I suppose but all the rest of them just gave me the keys and said work away these would have been cars 7-12k euro price braket. I think there is the odd place where it is actually policy for them to go with you regardless of your age or what your trading.

Thank god I have no trade in to worry about tbh before I advertised my own I thought I was going to have to trade it. You know put a bit with it and get a 1.4 golf :pac:

Yep I gave 250 off the asking price that was it take it or leave it and the guy that bought it took it i just had it in my head that I was going below that price on it and that was it I mean I think I got an ok price for it still lost 1200 in 13 months but I can live with that as it got a good bit of use and what I paid for it at the time was a bit strong but it's a clean straight van which you could literally not spend money on if you wanted to good tyres and I only serviced it two weeks ago new pads all around timming belt done last year the list goes on.

I'm both happy and sad to see it go if you know what I mean. Anyway onwards and upwards as they say.

According to Bus Eireann, 80 KM journey takes 3+ hours and costs about €25.

There is no train around here either.

Ah lad that's absolutelty crazy tpft I assume at least mine was comprehensive. Did you try that xsdirect crowd never tried them myself but they might suit your brother.

Did your brother crash or what I mean I got on a brand new octavia on a provisional at 17 fully comp for under 1500 euro back when I was learning has insurance gone up that much.

XSDirect has been pretty much gone for a good while at this stage. It's also way cheaper to insure newer cars than it is old cars.

Its mad like, he's never driven before so either way its gona be a hefty price so he may as well bite the bullet :o

It mightn't help that he wants his own policy too :o I can't put him on mine, imagine, a 19 year old driving a 2.3 turbo with 0 experience :pac:

I don't know the price difference between bus eireann and aircoach but the x1 route has some fancy 151 coaches on it now with extra comfy seats and toilet, 4g wifi etc.

Or the x2 from translink is direct and nice coaches too.

I say this because there could be a possibility of driving these soon .....

    €3890 is awful pricey.

My quote was €950 on Aug 2014 (19 back then too, 1y NCB, 1.6 Bora)

I don't think there is a direct bus from your place to Westport. I have a choice of both bus and train to Westport from where I live.
