@Techie - what was it that you preferred about the Toledo compared to the Octavia???? - if you don't mind me asking.

Best of luck with the car anyway - hope it does a good job for you

Drove both of them back to back, preferred the drive in the Toledo, Octavia felt very heavy compared to the Toledo.

    Thanks.

That seemed pricey allright, so I wanted to have a look how much insurance would cost me for this.

I'm paying 950 on the 1.4 Golf / 1.6 Bora. (Third party only, no windscreen cover or anything else really)

That ridiculous quote was with 123.ie and I'm sure I could have gotten a cheaper quote but still. Also, I was able to get 10k cheaper just by changing address and occupation. Weird.

Instalments of ONLY €2,389 per month

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,113 ✭✭✭Gavman84

I'm with 123 too they were by far cheapest for me when looking!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,295 ✭✭✭Supergurrier

123 were the cheapest for me for 2 years then 3rd year then increased my premium 80% with no explanation so i went to nononsense

Won't be staying with them come changing time though as customer service is crap and having to pay 80 quid to swap insurance for a day is stupid

I don't think I have ever heard of a quote over €5k, getting one for almost €25k must be a record. They must not do simple "we don't quote for these cars" anymore, perhaps the PFO quote is meant to put you off on its own.

This might seem like an odd addition to this topic...

And I know its not something you'd see everyday.

But I said I'd post a couple of pics of my pride n' joy :)

    Suzuki Escudo Nomade 1996
    1.6L petrol.
Jap import of the vitara, selectable 4x4, etc. :)

She just passed the NCT last week. I only use this mainly for 'trucking around', on a regular basis, but not on long journeys as you can guess, I use a BMW 3 series, diesel 02' model for that.

    I don't think I have ever heard of a quote over €5k.

    I got a quote of €5,500 for a '02 Corolla last year!

The year before my sister was getting quotes of up around €7,000 as she had a claim against her.

Love that Suzuki, it's a perfect little off road machine!

This is my new whip while the Mazda is keeping it's "project" status. :pac:

What was the source of the not starting problem?

What was the source of the not starting problem?

Well, the clips on the fuse box in the engine bay were broken off so it was difficult to get in, when we did, it was discovered that the 80amp main fuse had been opened and clipped in the middle.
Definitely clipped and not blown as there was no burn markets, no white, black or blue smoke marks and not broken because well, that's impossible.

Someone that had access to the car before me broke it...
I've had this verified by a Nissan Technician.
