Least you still have your captain to play which allows for some hope! I'm on 47(-4) with Silva and Aguero to play as well. I'm really, really hoping for a 0-0 in the Villa/QPR game. Anymore Austin points will hurt even worse!

40 with only Aguero left. I win. Bad when you're reading the thread and struggle to find a worse score that your own.

The last few weeks have been an unpredictable clusterfúck. Certain choices being rewarded handsomely, and certain decisions being punished mercilessly.

It's what makes you hate and love the game at the same time.

This is the nail on the head. Had a disaster but I really didn't do much wrong. My only regret is not looking properly at the captaincy which was because I was on me holliers on he Costa Del Roscomon with no internet. Sold Belerin for Naughton, decided against using a transfer to get austin in for Costa, felt worried about going into the week without Austin, but I figured a hit would probably erode any gains. Expected austin to score 8-10 points and Costa to hopefully nearly match him. Benched PVA ahead of an unpredictable derby and played Naughton, Terry and Bertrand all way more odds on for CS points. End the week with FIVE 1 pointers, two 2s incl captain and two injuries.

Narrow margins and the right moves rewarded probably disproportionally (while I agree austin was a no brainer captain And was low odds to score 8-10 I don't think anyone could have seen him being a possible 40 pointer) and the wrong ones punished severely.

Made similar choices myself. Was happy enough with my team going into the week once I'd cleaned up my defense (Forster and Bellerin out made perfect sense!) and didn't really have Austin pegged as a concern. Had him pegged for a goal and thought that woulda been grand--not worth the two transfers it woulda taken to get him in and ship him out again.

But I was spectacularly wrong and such is life! :pac:

The most annoying thing is that nobody would have captained Austin if it wasn't for the double. Those of us without him would have missed out on 15 points rather than 30.
Anyone out there who can honestly say they would have captained Austin away to west brom?

Maybe not but i think it was mistake people not getting him in for a double game week.
He was the third highest scoring striker in fpl. Captaining him was an easy decision.

Agree with this. That's the learning I'll be taking from this weeks debacle.

I would've been selling austin this week as was my plan when I got him in for the last double Gw 28.Obviously that went out the window when this double was announced and delighted he got an unexpected haul yesterday as it was the villa game i expected pts from. I will say though austin has been fairly unlucky the past few weeks to have not returned a lot more points than he did Particularly in the previous double.

I captained him in the last dgw aswell. He scored against Arsenal and was very unlucky against spurs. He hit the bar and should have had a peno.

If I had costa or giroud I don't think I would have taken them out for Austin. I don't think it was that straightforward a move to get him in you were probably looking at a -4 when you factor in having to take him back out.

I agree it would be a tough decision but at this stage of the season i would of prefered a player with dgw.

I considered Kane to Benteke as I expected Benteke to outscore him. However with the Chelsea double coming that would've cost me 2 precious transfers getting him out and back in anyone with Costa would think the same. I think the thing is sometimes we think too long term I know I do as I was thinking about dgw 34 and the need to get costa in when deciding to make no moves this week. There is an argument for maximising your pts every week and making the moves that will bring you that rather than worry about a gw 3 weeks away when the players you may want may not even be available In my case costa.

57 points with Silva still to play. Happy enough with the score but had Kane as captain so could have been better. Also had van Aanholt and Trippier on the bench who would've done far better than my starting backs but oh well.

Yeah thinking too far ahead can be costly. I got rid of Sanchez and Bellerin because of their blank in GW33.

going to be keeping a close eye on Glenn Murray tomorrow night with a view to him replacing benteke for gw33 and 34........

64 points with Silva, Aguero, Guzan and Austin(c) left.

Up from 3906 to 2990. Very happy with that and given I have 4 to go the only way is up this week. Would be nice if Aguero does something tomorrow.

34 with Aguero, Silva and Guzan to play. An unmitigated disaster of a game-week, benched Phillips accidentally to make it worse.

Dropped down to 2.9k from 1.4k.

Do you think Aguero still has enough high placed owners and more importantly captainers as to damage your placing with a big haul? What are the stats re his top 10 k owners\captainers

There is 2 lads in one of my paid league with Aguero capt so I'd prefer a 2 pointer for him.

I don't think anyone was brave enough to captain him this week, he is out of form and not worth the risk after last gameweek.

I think you misunderstood me here - I hope he does the business and this will definitely not damage my ranking;)

Aye, but I think I should have built the plan around having him for this DGW. Went Studge to Costa last week which paid off in the short term, and was intended to set me for dgw34 but I shoulda went for Austin first.

Still learning this damn game, sometimes I forget and think I know what I'm doing!

I'm in the position where an Aguero haul would probably benefit my OR but kill me in said pay league.

I would have captained him if I hadn't gotten Benteke in. I would say it's a certainty that you will drop rather than rise if he were to score over 10 points tomorrow.
Maybe I am misunderstanding your point. I also have him but am hoping for a quiet night from him although I'd like to see some form from him.

As long as he gets less than Austin I should be fine.

I assume (and hope I am not wrong) that most players went for one of Kane / Austin / Giroud / Benteke / Costa.

Why? See below. I captained him last week, but decided enough is enough.

This is what you get for 12.6m:

Last game against 10 men was a disaster. You would expect him to be more involved.

    .

the problem with this game is that the correct decisions don't always reward you if Costa had scored at the weekend and hadn't got injured and austin returned let's say 20 pts as captain. Something that could quite easily have happened you would have had no regrets when you factor in the extra costa pts over austin the previous wk. It's fine margins at times. It's just one of those horrible weeks when a player you don't own that lots captain has a massive score and then the player you have instead blanks and your captain blanks.

On the Austin thing, I got him for his first DGW, and the second DGW was announced before I transferred him back out.

For those who got him in for GW28, it made sense to hold him but I think some 'rushed' the transfer out when he only got 8 points from the 2 games.

Once I kept him he was always going to be my captain. I never considered anyone else. Sure, 15 points away to WBA is unexpected but he did have 2 games. There wasn't a real stand out captain option from those with only one game either - Hazard worked out but home to Stoke wasn't the easiest game in the world.

For those without Austin I suppose it was hard because the only two options for the DGW were him and Benteke really and it would be hard to drop Giroud or Costa if you had them.
