Yesterday my husband brought all the dogs outside and forgot Thor, one of the dachshunds. Loki, the other dachshund, was pacing up and down the kitchen and whining for ages and my husband couldn't figure out what was wrong. Eventually he copped that Thor was missing and he opened the kitchen door and the little sausage was just sitting on the mat with a forlorn look on his face and when he came in it was like Loki tried to hug him. So cute.

And today, I went over to put something in the dishwasher, I turned around and Thor was up on the kitchen table trying to eat the butter. This is the dachshunds new thing they do, trying to get up high, like cats :pac:
Look at the teeth marks :pac:

Graces7 - we had a ginger tabby and white like that one. You'd think he'd be easy to spot but put him on a patch of gravel or curled up in the leaves under a beech hedge and he'd be really hard to spot. Particularly in snowy days in the hedge he'd be invisible. He was a good hunter and very affectionate, I'll always have a soft spot for gingers...

Ruby (my African Grey) stood on my arm, climbed onto my shoulder and let me take her on a tour of the house. It's a small thing but up until now, she would only let me "pick her up" if she she was away from her cage, got a fright and felt scared. It's huge progress for her to trust me enough to leave the security of her cage and go for a "walk" with me :D

I was soooo proud of both of us. When I put her back on her cage, I gave her a round of applause and kept telling her what a good girl she was. She looked so chuffed with herself and I swear to God if she was a person she would've been smiling from ear to ear :pac:

So after four weeks with my extremely shy rescue kitty, we are making a lot of progress but I'm still waiting for the day he's ready to cuddle ...

... but last night as he was sleeping on the sofa, I went and sat down at a short distance from him. The fact that he lets me do that now without jumping off and running away is progress in itself.

He began stretching, rolling over, inching ever so close to me bit by bit... and finally bumped his head against my thigh for just a second, and then scampered off.

It reminded me of a teenage boy awkwardly getting up the nerve to put his arm around his new girlfriend t09026.gift09026.gift09026.gift09026.gif

I got a kitten today and I love her so much! She was exploring the house all day, climbing and jumping onto everything.

She made me laugh so much when she started chasing her tail! Very cute!

So recently my very shy rescue kitty has discovered how warm and comfortable my own bed is. A couple times when I've gone looking for him I've found him sleeping in it.

Last night when it was time for me to go to bed, he was sprawled out all over it. I assumed he'd get up and run away when I got in, but he didn't move at all! He just let me squeeze in next to him, with barely enough room to fit me in. It was the most contact he's allowed me to have with him yet, so I didn't have the heart to make him move.

Needless to say I didn't sleep too well but I really didn't mind!

Ra will now only go downstairs behind me, so she can use me as a brake in case she can't stop!

She's also started to come looking for me if I'm not out of bed soon enough after my alarm for her liking, or just whenever. I woke up the other night terrified of a weird snorting noise outside my door. It turned out to be herself trying to jam her nose in the crack between the door and the saddle and having a good sniff.

one of the justifications to my husband for keeping our cat when I found her - this was back in our pre-cat-slave days, when we were admittedly even anti-cat  - was that she would kill mice & rats in the yard. Major progress here today: Tux is sunbathing on the patio in between stalking and pouncing on FLIES on the wall! Hubby will be so pleased!!

My kitten, Pepper, is an extreme attention seeker. She will stand outside the door meowing until you come out and pick her up.

My favourite thing is when I'm using my phone. She comes over and hits it out of the way with her paw! She hates me using it because she's not getting my full attention! She'll then lie down on me for a cuddle. So cute!

My elderly 16 year old, but still rather small and very cute, cat did the very ordinary thing of sitting at the window looking out when I came home last night, and this morning, did the very ordinary thing of going out the cat flap and sitting on the bins to catch some rays. This made me smile, because I really didn't think she'd make it through to the summer. She was diagnosed with kidney disease last year, but the Fortekor tablets and the special food seem to be keeping her going quite nicely. She stopped eating for a few days last month, which gave me a terrible scare, but she's back to normal now, and tests for thyroid problems showed nothing. And while writing this post, I've just watched her tentatively jumping onto the garden wall, as if she'd forgotten how to do it - but she made it, and she's now sniffing round to see who's been mooching round her territory.

I know her time is limited, but I'm enjoying every day, and every cuddle, and every purr. Keep making me smile, my girl.

My poor little terrier is surviving - just about  - without his wing-man and friend (both PTS last summer). Now he has a cat (Tux). Every night and every morning, the dog is allowed down to our bed for a little p&q, which he adores. The cat is NEVER allowed invade this sanctuary. The kitten is now allowed outdoors, and our bedroom windows are always open. I let her out first thing in the morning before breakfast. She has discovered she can get in our window and bounces on the dog-shape in the bed :D The poor dog slinks out of the bed, giving us a "how could you let her in here" stare and goes off to his armchair. Life is tough

We adopted our first dog on Sunday (a 2 year old terrier/lurcher, gorgeous little fella!). On our walk this morning we were stopped at traffic lights, and an elderly couple with their grandson in a stroller stopped next to us. The baby stuck his hand out, and Sparky licked him so, so gently after looking to me for permission. It was the most adorable thing I've seen him do (granted, I've only known him for 3 days :pac:)! The baby's grandparents were besotted by him too :)

    He's just awesome.

Sounds like a lovely mix - any chance of a picture??

I cant believe the number of lurchers and lurcher crosses that are in our rescue :( They make such gorgeous pets. Best of luck to you with your new dog, and so great that you rescued :)

I'll try to get a decent one to post soon! We have a few from his first day with us, but they're a bit shaky and dark - I was too excited about him being ours to care about the photo quality :pac:

My husband is away so last night, I brought my shihtzu to bed with me and we both had the best sleep ever :) This morning when we woke up, she looked aorund her for a sec, as if going 'hey! where the hell am i?' and then spotted me stuck to the bed and basically did a jig of excitement - I know I'm biased, but mutheragod, the cuteness KILLED me

Can we post videos? It's only 15 seconds long.
Thor snores and puffs his mouth out like an old man when he snores :pac:
    Turn the sound up.

Callie gave me the funniest look while out getting medicine for her sticky eye (the other eye obviously). So I had to memeify her :P

Love this, similar happened with one of mine last night.
My grumpiest cat Cleo is normally very unaffectionate but as the boyfriend wasn't staying at mine last night, she decided she'd jump in instead.
We both slept great and when my alarm went off this morning she was all confused, blinking at me with heavy sleep eyes - awwwwwww
I said 'sorry Cleo! It's time for me to get up though baby girl - but you can go back to sleep' so she leant over, gave my hand a quick lick to say thanks and then snuggled down to go back to sleep.

It's as if she understood what I'd said haha, bless her, her little sleepy head made me smile :)

She was letting out little snores by the time I was leaving :p

Dude has a habit of staring into my face then tapping my nose or chin, no idea why. Today I was playing guitar and he was doing his usual staring act but instead of tapping my face he strummed the guitar :D I have a musical cat in the making!

I was amazed today. I have two African Grey's who I got from previous owners. I know one of the owners, who gave me Ruby. Ruby is sensitive and she responds well to me and I've made loads of progress with her. She will now happily sit on my shoulder and come for "walks" with me around the house. Charlie was a lot more aggressive when he first came and despite me being very patient with him, he still won't let me touch more than his claw and that's through the safety of his cage!

Anyways, today Jimmy came down to see Ruby (he's been a few times) and she was not amused. He isn't as patient as me and can be a bit brusque but he never harmed her. Not only did she flat out refuse to go near him, when he put his hand out, she bit him  It wasn't a little nip either, she drew blood and it looked very sore. She hadn't done that before but it was awhile since his last visit. It was like the more settled she got in my house, the more she was determined not to go back to Jimmy's and saw his presence as some sort of threat.

Charlie on the other hand loved Jimmy. Jimmy was only in the house five minutes when he was able to rub Charlie's head and when Jimmy stopped, Charlie put his head down for more scratches! Charlie's previous owner told me that he loved him but wouldn't let his wife near him. They came to him from someone else so they didn't know if Charlie had a bad run in with a female before that.

So anyways, it seems like my parrots are sexist and Ruby likes women and Charlie likes men! :pac:

Left her in the kitchen earlier while I had a shower. When I came back down, she wasn't there! She had climbed out the window for the first time. When I opened the door, she ran straight back in.

She's the cleverest cat! And a brat too! :D

So, how are you going to break the news to hubby that he will now be sleeping in the spare room? :pac:

Disastrous attempt to bring cat on his first vet visit - had to cancel because he was terrified of being in the carrier. And then I was terrified he'd be terrified of me. But after a tetchy couple of hours, he came back to normal... and slept cuddled up to me all night heart.gifheart.gifheart.gif

I went out for run earlier with the Doberman who is a real outdoors dog and loves his run despite the terrible weather. We were in the local park and after about half an hour I noticed he was gone, I assumed he was sniffing around the trees or something. 20 mins later I'm finished and he is nowhere to be seen.

I'm starting to panic at this point as if he had gone home my husband would have assumed something had happened and come looking for me. Murphy's Law meant I left my phone at home so I couldn't ring to check. I end up getting down into brambles and spending half an hour searching for him only to give up when its getting dark. I'm in a panic, I'm crying, where is he, is he hurt, has he been taken, he's an old boy so has he collapsed and died somewhere.

So I go home to get help and a torch, very upset and covered in crap and when I go in the front door who do I see only the dog and husband watching tele on the couch. "Did you not think to come looking for me, I could have been hurt", I say. "I was just waiting for the end of the film and I would have gone" was the reply. The hound is just sitting there looking sheepish. He'd been at home the entire time.

Tbh any madness I felt just went as I'm so glad and relieved he's okay. I gave him a big hug and counted my blessings he wasn't hurt. Still mad at the husbands response though :D

I thought cat had let me sleep in this morning!

... Then I realised it was just the clocks going forward ...

Elly often fetches over one nut at a time to eat on her bed.
Yesterday however Tara was hovering near her dish, so Elly got a mouthful of nuts and spat them into her bed and then ate them one by one!

Thought she was after getting sick to begin with, until I copped what she was doing!

Tux was out for her early pre-breakfast morning adventure  and she came back a couple hours later - very late for breakfast - absolutely REEKING of sheep  Could she have cuddled up with a ewe or lamb?!?!?!??!?!? Or been out playing with all the lambs that are outside flying about the place like toddlers on crack?!?? (I can see about 25 of them right now skudding about up/down a hilly ditch!) Tux is fast asleep stinking the place up - wet wipes for her when she wakes!
