What's the odds Clarkson will be announcing a new show on Sky within the week.
His many worshippers will flock to it.
Sky and Clarkson will do very nicely out of it all.
I wouldn't be surprised of the whole thing was a Clarkson PR stunt.
There's no such thing as bad publicity for Clarkson types, and he's only got a year or two before he's way over the hill.

A few people now have brought up the "apology and handshake" thing. An apology could be made and accepted, followed by a joint-statement declaring them as best of friends and it would all be completely irrelevant. It doesn't change the fact that Clarkson did what he did and appropriate steps would still need to be taken.

Sky have already ruled out working with him.

He's a liability and has some serious issues with alcohol and anger. I don't think it's a certainty that he'll just be inundated with offers from other networks.

the show is ruined and a man has lost his job, all over some Irish mucksavage who could not handle a bit of banter
Funny enough I'm a member of a majority UK based forum and on this subject which has run to nearly as many pages as this one, not one of the British lads has blamed the "Irish muck savage", indeed he has quite the bit of support and hopes that he won't be blamed for the demise of the show rather than the real reason, Clarkson being an utter prat in this case.

Oh and I'm no Guardian reader. I thought the "slope on the bridge" line was funny. Shooting the civil service strikers equally so. The deny meeny miney "scandal" was some hand wringer looking for any excuse to point the finger. The "offending" scene wasn't even used in the end. Nor did he say *scary music* that word. If this was a similar thing I'd be right behind seeing the Beeb as a bunch of tossers, but it ain't not even close. He was caught bang to rights guvnor.

My personal suspicion is that there may have been an element of "suicide by cop" on Clarksons behalf. Contracts nearly up, show still very popular, but flagging creatively with as many misses as hits in the last season. Being sacked might sit better with his ego than jumping the shark and seeing the show slowly expire and become irrelevant. Taht's before his admitted drinking "issues", his marriage gone south, his bad health etc. He no longer looks middle aged, more old aged.

Do you think if Clarkson had been smacked by Tymon he would have accepted an apology and a forget about it?
this clown was hired to make his tea and have his dinner ready and so forth, Jezza is a top top star and has a right to have a go if things are not right, he had a bit of banter and this lad makes a big deal out of it, its a joke. I'm just ashamed it was a paddy, making a show of us as usual in Britain

That's a bloody stupid thing to say.
It doesn't matter how big a star Clarkson is, he still can't hit people who work on the show, or anyone else for that matter.
Mr Tymon's job is not to be anyone's skivvy, he is employed by the BBC, just as Clarkson is.
I don't agree with the demonising of Clarkson since the story broke, but I do think that the assault of a coworker is unacceptable and Clarkson should be ashamed if his behaviour.
Clarkson behaved like a diva and a bully, his behaviour certainly shows a great distance between the image of "one of the lads" and his actions which are more like some upper class git smacking his staff around with impunity.
    You can't have both.
    A man of the people?
    Telling it like it is?
He behaves anyway he likes because he has money and influence, at least he did.
He got what he deserves and what he expected.
And I have no doubt he'll be issuing a formal apology to Mr Tymon, the BBC and the viewing public soon for his behaviour.
It really was indefensible, which is probably why he reported himself for judgement to his employers at the time.

A g'way outta that. He was a producer, not a skivvy. Noone has a right to strike anyone, no matter who they are, "top top star" or not. A bit of banter does not include shouting and screaming at someone, and hitting them. He's worked on Top Gear for 10 years, he's not some upstart intern trying to make a name for himself.

Tymon has kept quiet throughout this, which I'd say was difficult. Especially with gob****es calling for his head. Clarkson cursed out the BBC at a charity even last week.

The BBC are already struggling with accusations of protecting it's stars and executives, and then this happens? What did you expect them to do?

Given not one of his mates or any of the crew who were there have disputed the incident and what went on it's hardly a delusion.

You said yourself only a few posts back that you were disappointed at James May referring to what happened as a "small incident that ought to have been sorted out easily". Does that not qualify as one of his mates/crew disputing what the BBC are suggesting. I highly doubt May would refer to Clarkson just up and punching Oisin for merely telling him that the hotel was no longer serving hot food as a "small incident". In fact, had that been what happened, I think May would be saying that what Jeremy did was out of order and deserved to be disciplined for it and far from something which he would deem should, or even could, be sorted "easily".

The irony of you calling other people clowns and then coming out with that manure.

I don't know if you're trolling or just an idiot, but it was Clarkson that reported the incident to the BBC... not Tymon.

You're the one making a show of yourself

May could possibly have been referring to the lack of hot food being served as the small incident that could have been resolved easily, rather than Clarkson going off on one.

May isn't a stupid man, and knows quite well that the Top Gear™ product IS Clarkson, May and Hammond. He knows that himself and Hammond (and whoever they get to replace Clarkson) won't have the "charisma" to carry it off, in it's current format.

What did you expect them to do?

Not throw a hissy fit over a little scuffle.

The guy checked himself into an A&E over a swolen lip and was "witholding" legal action pending a BBC review. AKA, sack him or i'll sue you.

It's ridiculous pc/compo culture in action, and tymons failure to do his job should have been accounted for.

The Beeb did the right thing

I doubt it and if he or anyone else that was involved did feel the BBC were on a crusade over a small incident, then why doesn't he or anyone else just come out and say precisely what did happen? I mean if this was exaggerated to bump Clarkson off, it would be easy to dispute. There were plenty of witnesses including the other two, the rest of the crew, the staff and guests of the hotel(and the casualty staff who treated the producer). It's a long list of people who could step forward and call shenanigans on the Beeb. But nobody has. Clarkson made the initial report himself, Hammond has said nada, May had been initially evasive, now with the full report out is insinuating, or appears to be, that it wasn't quite as laid out in the report. Eh wut?

As I also pointed out, purely from a financial position the crew, the other two, even Oisin, the magazine staff, the live show crew etc would have everything to gain and nothing to lose by telling the "whole story", hell, even by hanging the junior producer out to dry by closing ranks. Yet, again nobody has.
