Justice done, nothing against Mr Clarkson, except I don't like him,you cannot go round alledgedly striking colleagues.

    End of story.

Theres no allegedly about it, he admits to doing it in the investigation report

A 30 second physical attack, does that actually sound realistic given the age of Clarkson and his dodgy back, the relative youth of the producer, and the fact there was plenty of people around to intervene.

You misunderstand me. I wasnt being sarcastic. I would actually enjoy that.

    in that case: :D;)

Top Gear used to be quality of course, but should have been put out to pasture about five years ago.

The franchise has made the BBC a small fortune each year in merchandising, DVDs and live shows, particularly so in the last five years and yet you think they should have had it "put out to pasture". Ha, what was it you said about TG fans and their heads again.

I used to watch Top Gear and got thoroughly fed up of him. Now all I hear of him is when his latest "controversy" happens as you can't screen everything out if you follow news websites as much as I do. It's always tedious, whatever it is.

Well, you could easily avoid this thread, if you really wanted to.

I've, what, five posts in this thread? Hardly excessive.

    75+ now.

To paraphrase John Bender: 'Sweets, you couldn't ignore Clarkson if you tried'.
The Beeb won't drop him though..

    Oh dear.

Quality programming on the Beeb you are having a giraffe.

The BBC is the greatest broadcaster on earth, with world class radio and television programming. Are you having a ****ing laugh?

Think it's more of a case that a publicly funded broadcaster can't be seen to continue to pay someone who physically assaults people he works alongside.

Theyre still being payed with public funds to air the shows, and they're making money off them from the advertisements that'll be payed.
If they want to be the great, big, good guys in all this then they should go the whole way, otherwise its just hypocrisy.

Some say that people seem to be getting confused between "sacked" and "contract not renewed", and that Clarkson will be back on the TV before you can say Jim Davidson

Which would apply in any case...

I have no idea how this story is getting so much attention. Why all the fuss about a presenter getting the sack?

The show jumped the shark as far as ridiculous goes years ago, became very difficult to watch when the staged situations just got more and more bizarre and suspending your own disbelief became impossible

James May has changed his Twitter profile to "Former" TV presenter.

I think it's pretty obvious that May will go with Clarkson. Not sure about Hammond. I presume he'll follow them but I wouldn't be so certain.

Hopefully the two lads can join clarkson in a new show. They work very well together as a team. Id love to see them do an explorer/traveling like TV. Basically a series of top gear specials.

He has also said on Facebook ""I’m sorry that what ought to have been a small incident sorted out easily has turned into something big...
Now I have to write the eBay listing for my Ferrari." ‪#‎unemployed‬"

Looks like May is sticking by clarkson

Top Gear is a massive loss, it was a light hearted and sometimes brilliantly entertaining and educational show (Nam, Bolivia, Botswana)

It is a matter of huge regret that we will never see the P1 v 918 v F LF with a Top Gear spin on it.

Clarkson must shoulder the blame, but Hammond and May must walk now also. It can never be the same again so it must not be allowed continue on life support.

Great how fans of him completely overlook what an abusive twat he is, and have been, for a bloody long time. Funnier still that he's pretty racist towards the Irish... never mind the countless incidences towards blacks.

Self entitled prick that got fame so far up his arse and seeping out the ears, I say good riddance... let there be new presenters should Top Gear carry on.

Absolutely. Who's going to wade in and hit Clarkson, thinking that if they do, that's their career gone?

According to the Press Association, Sky has ruled out signing up Clarkson. (from The Guardian)

I do see what you are saying but there will be a line of stations to sign him and the other 2 if they want top gear won't be the same without him tell the countless kids to watch cartoons or something

    My kid loves it.

But its not aimed as kids is it? if you let them watch it knowing what the content is likely to be then you cant then complain about that content can you?

On what basis is it abusing power? How do you know it isn't just a case of two men engaging in a conflict?

Supposedly clarkson has not yet been pulled from presenting HIGNFY.

If clarkson does present HIGNFY he will be torn apart by Hislop and Merton.
They did a brilliant job on Angus Dayton and a few others who thought they could handle them.

I am not allowed discuss …

As a fan of the show I wish they didn't sack him but I can understand their decision. I'm sure he'll pop up somewhere else and given James May's reaction to the decision I'm sure the other two will follow. Those three were probably the main reason why I watched Top Gear anyway so this is where I part ways with the show.

It takes a different kind of intelligence to find him interesting and its a lot higher than the level that would find a barfly moreso.

Let's not go nuts. He's engaging and comes across sound, but he's completely middlebrow, no massive brain power required.
