Good stuff. UPNP handles all the port forwarding automatically which is why I suggested it. Did you have to forward the port manually in the end?

Manually done it, but at least your post pointed me in the right direction... Cheers for that..:D

Not done any group stuff but the lower fuel and repair costs make a huge difference :) Not getting a wanted tag if an AI ship runs into your fire is pretty cool.

Did some bounty hunting for bit and it seemed to be getting much lower cash rewards per kill tho.

ive been going into gas giant rings instead of nav beacons, find a metalic or metal rich ring and go in, sit off waiting for bountys or lazer fire and jump into the fight. ive been doing this solo and winged, had a good one spawn with my friend in a noob sidewinder 260k bounty on it he got a hit and we both got 130k and the local police joined in, easy cash, had a few 100k`s although most seem to be between 10-50k. tried a war zone got 45k for the same ammount of time as 100k in a ring.

Jumped over to the Lugh system to try out the community goal stuff. Traded in my Asp for a Vulture and god dammed that ship is lethal. Melts everything up to Python's with ease. Made about 500k in combat bonds which got me into the 70% contribution rankings with a payout of 5 mil when the event is over :)

Its well thought out and simple to use even with the Oculus Rift. It's really easy to see who your wing mates are targeting and it also shows you your wing mates health without cluttering your display.

3 of us tried it out and went to a high conflict zone and had some fun ganging up on big ships with big bounties. I think it could make playing alone a bit more difficult as we were able to quickly chase away any enemy human players. Ship repairs are less costly now as well so you can take more risks. We didn't try any other missions yet.

Very easy money to be made in Lugh.

Sign up for the community goal mission at a station. Fly to Lugh 11 and enter the high conflict zone. Join Fed faction and watch as a Fed battleship jumps in and start wrecking enemy ships. Just tag every enemy ship you can with a little weapon damage and move onto next target while the battleship blows the hell out of everything. Watch your bounties rack up :D

Made just under 1 mil in bounties and jumped up a combat rank in about 40 minutes and jumped up to 40% goal contribution which gives a 12.5 mil reward when the event finishes :D

Kinda unrelated to this thread but I remember playing Elite 2, Frontier (I think that's what it was called) on the Amiga way back when. I seem to remember than you could choose some sort of accelerated time option when you enter a system to dock at a space station but when you did that the computer would always just crash your ship into the space station.

Can you sign up at any station or does it have to be within a certain distance? I havent seen where to sign up in my station menus.

Yeah I think the trick was to get close and then stop accelerated time but sometimes it all happened too fast :). In Elite Dangerous you cant accelerate time because it's multiplayer so you have a separate mode called supercruise that allows you to travel many times the speed of light within a system. You still have the hyperdrive to travel between systems

Yeah after a couple of attempts I realised that I had to turn off the accelerated time before docking but as you say, sometimes you would miss it and that was a bummer. Still it was an odd bug to have made it to final release, surely they must have known about it??

I think you need to be in the Lugh system. I did it at Hartfield Station. The missions are on the bulletin board but are white and don't vanish like normal missions do.

    ****** VERY IMPORTANT ******

You must turn in the combat bond bounties at Hartfield station to count towards the goal progress and your reward.

Ok so I went to Lugh last night and picked up two missions from Cassie-l-Peia , one to kill Feds and one to run guns....

I'm a bit confused now, went into a low conflict zone and sure there were feds there but it was pretty hairy even in decently tooled up ASP's.

Will killing feds affect my status with them? (I'm guessing yes :) )

Is there another option? what if I want to help the feds? I saw people above talking about hiding out in resource places but they weren't killing feds...

Am I doing this wrong? :):)

When you go in to the combat zone there's an option in your systems panel on the rightmost tab to choose your faction. This makes your chosen faction go green and the enemy goes red. If you don't do this, the faction you shoot goes red. Watch out for friendly fire.

(I wasn't in Lugh but I cut my teeth in Eta Draconis)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,143 ✭✭✭jumbobreakfast

Yep, I always try to tell commanders about the factions if I see them attacking ships while neutral in a conflict zone. Most people have to find out from forums like this unfortunately because there is nothing to tell you that you're doing it wrong.

alritey just trying to get back into it, i have 292k im in a hauler all cargo no shields got it all upgraded. Cant seem to find any decent trade routes not sure what to do at the moment maybe go for a cobra and use it for trading, or try mining ? i sold my viper cause i need about a mil to make that any use for bounty hunting.

Find a high tech place, wealthy if possible and large population but you probably wont have much of a choice as High Techs seem fairly rare. Then find a local Agricultural place. Trade Land Enrichment machines from the high tech to Agri, and probably Coffee from Agri to HT. Should make you a nice tidy profit.

If you can get the two of them as close to their stars as possible it makes the hauling a lot faster!

Once you can jump about 15 ly (ideally, nearer to 20) then you can run rares on this circuit: http://i.imgur.com/CBYqJ1r.jpg
Makes about 1M per circuit I found, but its boring waiting for the rares to pop to fill your max in each place (you'll know when its not going to sell you any more as the Supply goes blank... you tend to get 7-13 of them).

Once you get on the ring after the third station you should be selling rares at every station plus the other goods you loaded up on. If you waited for the full load of rares that should be about 150k a station... (not every second station).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 110 ✭✭Edgey75

    try rare goods from
Diso (Shifnalport ) - Diso Ma Corn
Orrere (Sharon Lee Free Market) - Orrerian Vicious Brew
Leesti (George Lucas) - Leestian Evil Juice, Azure Milk
Lave (Lave Station) - Lavian Brandy
Uszaa (Guest Installation) - Uszaian Tree Grub

there all grouped together possibly get up to 30 or so tonnes of the stuff but if you travel distance away the goods become great sellers.
you can make around 500-600k profit on the load.

there are some trade routes but i usually just do the odd run now so dont really bother.

looking online it says to do these as the oposite end

Witchhaul (Hornby Terminal) - Witchhaul Kobe Beef
Fujin (Futen Starport) - Fujin Tea
39 Tauri (Porta) - Tauri Chimes
George Pantazis (Zamka Platform) - Pantaa Prayer Sticks
Zeessze (Nicollier Hanger) - Zeessze Ant Grub Glue
Altair (Solo Orbiter) - Altairian Skin
Chi Eridani (Steve Masters) - Chi Eridani Marine Paste

i always do my rare runs in open, usually in a unarmed type 6 although i do sometimes run my cobra for it. i carry a fuel scoop on all my ships just for emergancys i can scoop fuel off a sun and not have to worry about rnning out of fuel

    this link is helpfull https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17Zv55yEjVdHrNzkH7BPnTCtXRs8GDHqchYjo9Svkyh4/pubhtml
it has all rare good locations and distances ect

Well i just ran it till i could afford a lykon type 6 and was decking it out for trading but then just got insanely bored, bought some mining crap to see how that worked and that was fairly mind numbing. Yeahh ah i think im done with this again. Any one fancy buying a a cheap copy of the game :P il sell you my account

Is there any way to tell how far away you are from the different tiers in the community goals? I'm in the top 70% at the minute but could be 5000 away from the top 40% or 5 million away. Got me a vulture and actually enjoying combat, a lot more entertaining than running rares or other trading. Targeting the power plant makes all the difference when going up against Anacondas.

ive got a viper set up for combat shame its power plant is so puny though even when its the best one, you cant run the best of everything in it or it draws to much power and shuts down. my friend got a vulture though and is enjoying it. ive gone for all auto cannons on the viper my mate wacks the sheild off with his vulture and i target the power plant with the auto cannons, seen anacondas with 40% hull left pop due to the power plant going. bounty hunting is definatly more fun when you can find a nice extraction site, my only downside on my viper set up is alone i burn through ammo taking sheilds down and caps my bountys out between 300-700k before i have to go reload, with company i can make a around a mill before having to reload. subsystem targetting is the way to go.

Did anybody get to the Gold Rush in the Lugh System Sunday? Scooped up about 300k in gold around one of the stations. It was pretty busy!!

You can set priorities on your own subsystems so they don't all power off. Set your frame shift drive to P2 and all your weapons, thrusters, shields to P1. Then when you deploy hardpoints it will shut down your FSD, which you don't need during a fight. The only downside is when you are frame shifting away, you have to wait a second or two for your hardpoints to fully retract before the FSD comes online, instead of being able to start charging the FSD while the weapons are still retracting.
