It's the cheapest mr2 to insure being an original Irish non turbo car . I pay 300 fully comp as my only car daily driver policy.

The pics look fine on my phone but when I uploaded them to the ad they a bit pixilated alrighty, I might have to wait til I'm on a laptop to adjust them as my phone is crap lol.

First day back driving. Was a bit heavy with the right foot. And what's the jazz with all the snow? Was this forecast down here? I thought it was just for Donegal.

    Sleet here in Dublin

But more importantly, a ****ing Volvo V40 broken down a bit up from the Uci on the Malahide road, not ideal

My trip to cork this morning Light snow between kilkenny and clonmel extremely heavy snow going through clonmel onto the motorway to the point that if you but your foot on the accelerator anyway heavy at all even half way all I got was traction control light flashing like mad even in high gears. Motorway was very bad in places overtaking lane was blocked up with snow and slush very hard to drive on no grit and even the driving lane was very slippy in spots.

Also on a side note for anyone that travel around cork at busy times you know the way the m8 side of the dunkettle backs up in the mornings and often people cut up the hard shoulder if going left and cut into trafic through the gap. This morning just as I was near that gap a trafic corp car blocked the gap causing any cars going down the hard shoulder to have to stop and he was checking there licences talking reg and looked like he was giving tickets. I've never seen that before although I don't ever go down the hard shoulder anyway.

    Damn you 166 man :)

Just checked my spending for the crack..

Since the new year started. .

    Petrol - € 1,014
    Parts - €619

    :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,875 ✭✭✭Foxhole Norman

Jaysis lads, ye're mad for Petrol, I've say I've only gone through about 450 since the start of the year and parts have only come to about €80 :pac:

I think my spend has been less than 150 on petrol....

    20 on bulbs.

And now another 70 or so on the greenstuff pads. I'll end up with my bosch brake discs soon too. Really can't wait for the break performance upgrade. Really should have done the brake lines when I did the brake fluid flush. Ah well! Next year:)

    Next service will be:

    oil + filters
    Front brake pads + discs
    Fuel filter

    I reckon that covers it!

    I'm doing well :p

Since I found CarParts-Pros I think I'll be going all OEM for serviceables, Discs, pads, filters, delivery is a flat €17 if it's not a bulky item.

My own spending has been silly tbh. Including the parts and labour for fitting as well as the detail I got done...

    Parts etc - €3850ish
Petrol - Just shy of €1k, that for the 156 and 166 though....

    Feck....:pac:

FN- My mileage is gone up massively because I've best man duties for a wedding in April. I'm up in Leitrim from Carlow because of that the whole time.
My commute daily is 136km too so that doesn't help!

    Smile :) If you don't smile you'll cry :)

I'm loving the car so i couldn't care less about fuel. The 6 cyl noise is so nice i find my foot being squeezed subconsciously now :)

That's a hefty commute....! I'm the same with the 166, I test it occasionally just for the lols but in general it's too tempting to go from 4th to 3rd, pop on the STR button and wave goodbye Mr 520d driver....:D

Enjoy it lads, it's what being an enthusiast is all about..!

They seem pricey to me, 2 Bosch discs comes to 78 quid including postage on mister-auto. That 17 flat rate postage has got to negate any savings on a lot of things unless they're big expensive items?

So the Alfa had feck all history we'll he said timing belt had been done but had no proof.

Thinking of going to look at these, anything in particular to look out for?

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/view/8499717 Immaculate Volvo V50

In other news got my insurance renewal quote there trying to put it up a hundred euro quoted me 960 and massively undervalued my car.

The e60 still suffers from cooling issues, the water pump is a common problem. It's electric I believe which means its more expensive to fix.

And "Fuel Efficient" is not how I would describe that car!

    Alfa 156 JTD Est.Just Nct 02 16,Taxed,Like New,

Bit pricey but I'm sure there's room for negotiation. Looks genuinely quite clean!

I think that's 78 a disc :pac:, but there are much cheaper options given next to the OEM one's as well. Might not be best for brakes but for stuff like filters they're pretty much the same price as the ones you might get from Micksgarage, but these would be OEM.

I also need to get a Service Book and Car Manual off them.

Poorly typed post by me....but mister-auto have a set of 2 discs for 68 + 9 quid postage. Very good price, and I believe bosch were OEM for at least part of the lifetime of the e46 at least.

Mind you, my brother just starting working in a factors and can get like non-OEM's at half price or something!

Pretty much, now to be fair, it may be more than that. Checked on my internet banking and it seemed to line up with my figures. Don't commute in it, mostly drive it on weekends and in the evenings.

i know that it's insane commuting that far in this car but it's fantastic.
It's costing something like 120 just for the commute.
Do i bloody love the car though? YES!

Edit: Jesus i just realised i gave 1300 for the car.

Including car tax since then I've spent 1900. Not including the car :o
