Changed my first ever set of brake pads today on the gtv, while itd have been easier to pay someone to do it, there's great satisfaction in doing it yourself :)

I've gone from green stuff back to oe, as they were only 40 Euro from an Alfa dealer. At least I can stop outside my house now and not the next one.
The green stuff were great until they stopped working literally overnight.

Also thanks colm_mcm for the advice on the seat belts a few weeks ago. I sprayed some silicon oil on them and gave them a good rub with a cloth and now both are retracting perfectly no more getting caught in the door result :)

I may sound like a broken record here but that Gtechniq Permanent trim restorer is the only job for plastics. It's pricey and you only get a small bit but prepare properly and apply it properly and it will last and last.

Fantastic stuff. A nice present to treat the Civic with for passing the tesht...

Brother got the gtechniq for his van, might try some on it.

    They skipped the 406..... WAAAAAH!!!!!!!

The new 508 and 308 don't seem like bad cars from the reviews I haven't actually been in either though. I have neighbour that has a 2.0hdi 406 2002 from new and a partner van 2000 from new nothing catastrophic has gone wrong with either. Although the 406 is starting to show its age wear there must be almost 200k miles on it at this stage.

I find myself skipping a lot of bits this series. Generally the super car tests unless it's a car I've been looking forward and the star in the Astra bit.

    The Peugeot bit was excellent.

the 308 has being quite well received actually.

Estate version of it looks quite nice imo

I'd rather if they did more reviews on cars that people are actually going to buy. Like what ordinary joe soap is going to buy a ferarai. Have they reviewed the latest passat or mondeo at all? Actually now that I'm on about it, can anyone find out and see if they did a test drive/review on the mk4 mondeo, I've been looking for the past 3 years!! All I can find is mk1, 2 and 3 reviews.

Fifth Gear seems to have taken over that.

Alot of mildly hot cars like hatches and the like seem to have been ignored as of late which is what alot of viewers would aspire to.

Last years super mini trip with the Fiesta Ecoboost and Up! was really good, I'm sure there'll be something similar to come.

I think Top gear is basically gone from being a car show to an entertainment show that happens to have car related activities.

The show has very little to offer those of us who are genuinely into cars - these days.

G techniq will probably last longer (never tried but it does seem very good) but einzett have a very good value product that works well on some plastics. Lifetime supply for a tenner from micksgarage - litre bottle and you really don't need much. It has some German 100 letter long name.

Her car has a lot if black plastic trim (kinda rough ish matt black plastic) which was ok but a little dull - worked very well on that. Which was a relief because I'd say it would have taken two bottles of C4.
My own has a few small bits that were smoother black but have now gone grey- einzett needs to be reapplied a few times a year on mine.

Kunststoff intensive pflege. For intensive pfleging of. ......

Can anyone recommend to me what would be the best product to wash your car with?
Im driving a 2008 Ford Mondeo and I wash it regulary with Simoniz Wash & Wax, but I wouldnt mind something different and maybe something which can do a slight better job..
    Thanks in advance!

    Colorado Red

That's the brighter red isn't it? Has it been polished lately, it'll bring it up. I use autoglym shampoos on mine, but that's black. Check out the website detailingshed, they will have everything you could want.

Yep, bright red and very hard to keep clean! I rarely polish it as Im travelling on back-roads mostly and so it gets dirty very fast, especially with the current weather conditions!

I have come across a highly recommended product, "Kleen Freaks". Have you heard of them before?

Can't say I have tbh. I travel a lot of back roads too, and I just give up cleaning for the winter months, just a shampoo and a rub of a quick detailer. Don't bother with dressing the wheels this time of year.
