But you are suggesting we lose games?

How are we supposed to qualify?
So we play whatever sh*te is necessary to try and qualify for the CL and then next season we just flick a switch and play attractive football??? Ya right

Lol no. I hope you're not a utd supporter

    Nah, i'm guessing Liverpool.

I don't get why people would prefer a Southampton win over a lpool win? Like everyone else, I feel dirty cheering lpool, but at the end of the day (literally), I'd rather be sitting in 4th than 5th.

I honestly don't get the Fellaini hate at this stage. He's been as good if not better than any of or other midfielders this season and when shoved up front has probably contributed as much if not more than any of the forwards.

As far as playing the long ball up to him up front, that tactic is only used in the last 15 minutes of a game if Utd are behind or nothing else is working. That's normal for most if not all teams.

Also a huge percentage of the "long" balls up to Fellaini aren't played for him to challenge in the air in the hope of a knock down. They are played up to his body/chest for him to control and bring other players in to the game, which he is fantastically skillfull at doing.

I remember Ferguson using a similar tactic many times when he had Mark Hughes in the team. Play it up to Sparky and the ball will stick and he'll bring other players into the game.

Yes so would we all. Liverpool are more of a threat to that than Southampton in some people's eyes(including mine.)

Because I'd have to listen to it all week from Liverpool fans at work and if they finish ahead of us I'll have to listen to those **** heads all next year also. At this stage I don't care where we finish aslong as it's ahead of Liverpool.

Don't hate fellani I just don't think he is anywhere near good enough for a top 4 club.
It doesn't matter whether its his head or his h*le they are aimed at its still route one football.
As regards Sparky well he had more skill in his big toe than Fellani has in total. And it wasn't long ball stuff up to Sparky either

Fair point, but I'd rather we finished 4th and they finished 3rd, than we finish 5th and they finish 8th. Neither will happen of course, but ya

So what was it then when the ball was played long up to Hughes?

Looks like 3 points for Liverpool. Bad result for Utd.

Really starting to worry now, it's like deja vu here. Exactly a year ago things were going completely t*ts up, not that far away from it now.

I think I actually dislike this season more than last.

I knew last year was going to be a shambles with Moyes, I was braced for it. This year though, after buying Di Maria, Falcao, Blind, Herrera and Rojo, I was excited and we're still crap.

Ya cause a new foreign manager and all those foreign players are gonna be good in the first season automatically........

Arsenal certs for 3rd and Liverpool favourites for 4th now IMO .. If we get CL now I think it will be achievement.

I'll call it - you heard it first!
    1. City
    2. Chelsea
    3. Arsenal
    4. Liverpool
    5. United
    6. Spurs

I wonder when the panic will set in

No point in panicking, just being realistic.. Current form means we don't deserve top 4... Of course that could change but we've been saying that for a while now.

Huge struggle now to finish in the top 4, playing terrible football, the players are completely devoid of confidence, think our best bet is to hope that the teams around us are worse than we are.

    Working alright for Southampton.

Our home form will get us in the top 4 i fancy beating everyone at home.

When you look at the teams around us though they all have some continuity built up over at least 2 seasons

City manager there 3 years and always adding to an already great squad.

Chelsea brilliant manager in 2nd season very good squad very few injuries this season

Arsenal Wegner there for years playing a style they have for years with some slight adjustments this season very good squad,

Southampton New manger and a few new players but playing the same formation and style for 2-3 years

Liverpool manager in place 3 years, and some of the players they have brought in have come on a lot last few months

We have our 2nd manager in 2 seasons, LVG started late with us and got lots of injuries also had a lot of deadwood in the squad, he is also finding his feet in the premier league himself also a lot of the new players havent quite adjusted very well and overall our squad is still the most unbalanced even if we have spent 200 mil in 2 seasons.

The last point is a combination of a squad that was neglected for a couple of years, woodward coming in and as has been said 2 managers in two years.

Does this season suck yes it does but not as much as last season we were out of everything this time last year. Lets just hope for the top 4 and with some continuity things in theory should be better next season

It's a long time since Falcao crossed to RVP on his left foot and Di Maria chipped the keeper vs Leicester. Even though we lost that game moments of individual quality like that have been absent all season. Could flip a coin at this stage, Liverpools form is very worrying

We were lucky Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool were shít the first half of the season, they've gotten their shít together while arguably we haven't improved since the opening day

Feck it, I'm going to stay optimistic and say we'll make the top 4 based on the following:

    - LVG hopefully wont be playing Rooney in midfield anymore
    - Herrera should feature from now on based on his impact in the last few games
    - Di Maria's form can only get better
    - At least one of Rooney, Falcao, or Wilson will surely start scoring
    - We have less fixtures compared to our rivals

I'm thinking things have to start improving for us. Amidst the gloom of losing the match against Swansea, there were some signs suggesting that formation could fit our players.

Also, in the short term anyway considering his form, I think RVP being out for a while will be a good thing for the team. Falcao will get another shot to turn it around and failing that, Wilson will get a run.

They were lucky we messed up a very winnable 6 opening games.

Yesterday was no great performance but it was our best in ages. Not that it was anything special we controlled the game and looked more dangerous. We have grabbed a few undeserved results this season and yesterday we were due one going the other way.

Surely LVG will use the formation and personnel from yesterday for the rest of the season and things will start to tick. Once LVg doesn't revert back to what he done the last few weeks i will be surprised if we finish outside 4th.

Sincerely hope you are right but just wish LVG would play his best players in their best positions and let them express themselves.
Confidence has been sucked put of DiMaria..
