Folks I'm going to upgrade my MX3, its grand I've flashed custom firmware on it but its still not great. So I'm looking at the minix, should I get the X8-H or Z64?

    Thanks

Is it the 1GB or 2GB version?

If you run Openelec on it you will get a huge boost in performance

Or which version of the firmware you running at the moment?

The spec on the MX3 is good so not sure why you would need to upgrade.....

OpenELEC is just XBMC...it boots straight into XBMC/Kodi. So you have no OS so to speak. All the setting etc are via Kodi......

The advantage is you have less "stuff" running so you have a more stable platform and you also get to use the hardware better for Kodi because it is allowing Kodi to utilize the hardware, so on Android you might need 2GB cache but on OpenELEC you only need 1GB etc.....

Disadvantage is you only run Kodi, so you can't run any other app's....

They say when putting that openelec on the boxes you need a sd card ? Would a usb stick not work too?

OpenElec has built-in VPN support (PPTP and OpenVPN). Plus can confirm my box works with Acestream P2P links. I've tried XBMX on Android, on Windows, and found OpenElec by far the best in terms of both performance and reliability.

Just wondering, guys who are using P2P which parsers command do you run? I used to run http://bit.ly/allparsers but it doesn't seem to work anymore....thanks

Sopcasy links work but Acestream won't, something to do with the engine acestream use, I tried endless times but gave up and a few Google searches confirmed that it isn't compatible with Openelc.

Have you tried Pulsar? I seem to have problems with it running aswell, it will load and play but no picture, may be an issue with settings as opposed to the addon though

Have an MX3 2g. Considering putting openelec on it. Worth doing and easy to do?

Anyone with a Minix Neo x7? What rom are you using?

I updated to Quickshot V2 months ago, recently I updated to Kitkat V2.2.0 but I am having problems with wifi.

So what rom should I use?

    Thanks

    Easy to do, yes....

Worth doing, I would say yes but I only use XBMC/Kodi...nothing else....

Spent days on Pulsar and with the dev on Twitter as well as I had big problems assigning the correct memory path for it to work on files beyond what memory was left on my box.

It requires non FAT32 memory and I tried to format an SD to EXT4 and NFTS but kept telling me the path was not writeable. A pity as I looked the add on but jacked it in reluctantly in the end

Cheers. Do you know which openelec file to put on it? Do I have to put other software on it first? Thanks

Acestream on Openelec works for me!

Maybe rather than a compatability issue with Openelec, it an issue with your hardware? I'm running on Intel NUC.

M8 and MX3 boxes. Likely hardware then if that is the case.

    Acestream discontinued their ARM engine.
Someone else is trying to revive it and is looking for source, that was in January, haven't heard anything at all since. Duckie13 or Duck13 or something like that was the username.

If it does appear and works the Open Elec really would be the perfect solution for Kodi. Hopefully it does get revived.

    Thanks man,

is it this link OpenELEC-Amlogic.MX3.arm-5.0.0.zip not the update.zip one I use? I just unzip that file then to an sd and the usual flashing method then, correct?

I have the same issue. I downloaded the parsers as a zip file and installed them but they stopped working months ago, just get script error anytime that I try to use them. However, I can view Acestream channels through Woody and vdubt25 no problem so I'm thinking that Acestream itself is ok but that the parsers are outdated/gone?

Is it the toothpick method you use? Have done it before on an mx2 but not an mx3. Can openelec go straight on the mx3? I was told with the mx2 I had to put matricom 1.1.6 on it first and then openelec. Thanks

I put mine straight on over the ROM that came installed with the MX3 via toothpick.
