Just got an Mk808B box and haev instaleld the new Kodi on it. Then used Aidymatic and the DrDroid package.
But when I try to start Kodi now, it comes on for a couple of seconds (I can see the Dr Droid layout) and then it shuts down, going back to the main screen for the box itself.

Any help as I'm clueless at this type of thing

    Many thanks

edit- actually have just now managed to get in without having done anything except trying again! But now getting a message saying Quartz is incompatible...which I ignored, and then the various menus populated.
    Don;t know whats going on!

I presume the openlec system is superior to android?

Can it be downloaded direct or do i need a usb stick and a laptop?

Do you know if this is a fairly common problem with these boxes?

There's an img scrubber. I can't get to it right now, but I think it's on XDA or Freaktab.
It will allow you to completely wipe the device, and then install a new OS.

I think there may be a few using it for Ubuntu images this week, I have little access to PC this week, but very little access to mod anything or mess around for the next week or two. :(
(I would be using the ubuntu image this week if I could..)

Are you putting the 3 files onto the sd card? Try removing the recovery image file from the card and try the toothpick again

I've decided to finally dip my toe in the Android box waters, and have narrowed it down to either a Minix Z64 (android version) or MINIX NEO X8 Plus. Any thoughts on which I'd better going for, or perhaps there's something else entirely I should be looking at?

I was slightly in your position on the run up to Christmas, I had installed XBMC on a laptop, played around with it, set up the repo's and add ons, all the while researching on line, the various boxes.

By about the end of October, I'd narrowed it down to The X8-h and the Traonsmart Draco.I'd come to the conclusion that I was better off spending a few quid and getting a near top of the range box, than getting a basic dual core stup, maxing it out and having to go again in 6 months.

At the same time, Minix had announced the Z64, and I was very taken with that, it having the windows option, however the months passed and there was no sign of it, so i plumped for the X8-H, although when it came to placing the order, the plus version was launched and I ended up buying that instead.

As it happens, I'm glad I did, It has Gig E, a better chipset, and super Wifi, it picks up a signal from my router which is exactly the same as an Ipad or laptop in the same spot. That was important to me because of the layout of my house,
I didn't want to run cables across a fire place.

Anyway, I received the box in January, and its very good, it plays 1080p movies flawlessly, streams 720p livestreams with very few interruptions, its also Android(obviously) so it has easy access to Play syore and Aptoid, for various............ "Applications" that can't be discussed here.

Am I glad I waited fot this and didn't wait for the Z64?, probably, had i waited I would probably have bought the Windows version, and the many Apps wouldn't have worked for me.Although having said that, I'll probably buy a Pipo X7 when the supply problems ease out, I'll use it as a box for the bedroom, for when the magic isn't happening!!

The z64 looks like a nice piece of kit too though, although if I was buying it I 'd look for reviews first from people using it, One of the queries I'd have is how well the chipset runs android, most of the Amlogic, Rockchip and Allwinner CPU's are designed for android, whereas the Intel Baytrail isn't, so I'm wondering will Minix be releasing a "PLUS" version of the z64 in the future to iron out any bugs? I mean thats where the X8-h plus has come from.

Qverall, I'm pretty happy with the X8-h plus, so far I have seen nothing to make me think I should have waited.

Can I ask where you bought the X-8h Plus from and how much it cost? PM if necessary.

I got it on Gearbest, at the time it cost me €113, that was with a discount coupon and the exchange rate being about 1/1,25, I put up a thread on Bargain alerts at the time with the coupon etc, I'm not sure if that still works though.I also bought a Minix A2 airmouse and keyboard, that was €22.00, its very handy for configuring XBMC as it has a remote keyboard on the back.

The Keyboard got lost in the post, but in fairness to Gearbest, they DHLed me a replacement at no cost. I know people have different opinions of them, but I found them pretty good, although I selected free post, so it took ages. The Minix was six weeks on the slowboat, although it was over Christmas.

Thanks for your reply. Will probably be buying another box soon and have been keeping on the X-8h Plus so will be watching this thread with interest. If the Plus has ironed out the flaws in the Minix, it would be a fantastic little box...

Well, I can't see any obvious problems with it to date, having said that I plugged it in and powered it up the day I got it never bothering to update the FW, I think theres new firm ware out again, but I've not bothered with it so far, and I saw some report here or on another thread that said it caused problems for some users. I'm off for a couple of days this week, so i may read up on it in the Minix forum, and see if I need to update or not.

Have you tried Open Elec on the MX3? You should before you make a final decision.
