Somebody needs to do a sticky for this thread on some of the options and various prices of these boxes. Maybe Big Nelly or Allyall if they had time.

I originally came here with the same questions as the last few posters, and since then it's been asked multiple times so I'd say the posters from the start of the thread are repeating themselves weekly. There's just too much in this thread to read though to get the answers though so can't blame them.

    ^^
Or possibly a list of the plus's and minus's of differing boxes?
What would be a good box to buy just to plug and play etc.

Can't go far wrong with the mxq for 40 quid. Working well enough for me.

    Minix X8-H
    MXQ
    MXIII 1GB
    MK808B
    MX2
    M8

The plug and play bit will be a struggle as all the boxes I buy just come with XBMC/Kodi installed but not set up....

IF you mean in terms of plug and play without firmware updates required then yes no problem adding that in

Not sure what you mean here......what is off brand box?
Thanks for the reply. I meant a box that is branded something (like the XSBox) but it obviously a slightly tweaked version of a popular box.
Doesnt really matter now anyway, I'll probably follow what everybody else is doing and grab an MXQ or MX3.

How would you choose one over the other?
Where are you all getting them for sub-€40?

A side question, you all seem to be having power supply problems. What is the power draw on these things? I've seen somebody say upto 2A! That would rule out using any standard USB charger I might have around the place. They're usually 500mA-1000mA

Looking at the new Amlogic s812 now, would love to future proof for x265 but paying over €80 is a no go for me at the moment

Open Elec ROM, yeah? There is a remote fix but I didn't get that far to install it.

I see the remote fix now i'll have a go at it later on and see how it goes and report back

The MXQ is the only box I had a problem with in regards to power supply. I would guess this is resolved now, everyone with the power supply issue bought in and around the same time so I would guess it was bad batch....

    The MXQ has H.265 support.

The MX3 does not have H.265 support but has 8 core GPU versus the 4 core GPU on the MXQ. You can also get the MX3 with 2 GB cache

The MXQ is available for 37 euro from Gearbest. You could get hit with customs and I am not sure how much that adds on, I missed customs.

As mentioned the MXQ I had, mate has it now, is flying, the only issue was the power supply. Apart from that for the price of it I cant complain at all....it played everything and I had no issues with it....

    Found code for MXQ
    Link: http://www.gearbest.com/tv-box/pp_80704.html
Coupon: MXQBLG, which will bring the price to €37.18

    Brilliant, thanks for sharing.

Finally! The 6 different choices and 6 different prices were making my brain hurt.... until I realised there are only 2 models. 1 with BT and the other without. The other options are just the plug adapter that comes with, phew! That was driving me mad trying to spot the difference.

MXQ it is so for me. Thanks for the help

Would people here reccomend an android box over a Chromecast? If so, why? Thanks for your help!

I've read from post #2561 to date.

Based on that, it seems to come down to the M8, MXIII, MXQ or Sumvision X4, though the M8 has some negative feedback in the last few pages.

My only requirements would be RCA as I don't have HDMI and can these things stream what's on you PC's hard drive? Mac, in my case. Apart from that, you guys seem to recommend a remote, maybe a mouse and homeplugs if your TV isn't near the router.

Ah they're not all of €80, where did you get that price?!

Slightly off topic lads but have a Chromecast for sale, 20e plus postage barely used.

I'd have the MxIII 2gb over the M8, really snappy with Open Elec 5.0 on it.

Best of luck with your Pipo!
Stick this on it(free for 12 mths), will be handy for some foreign stuff, Allyall mentioned it earlier in week, fair play to him :)

Its taken parcel motel longer to get it from Northern Ireland to Killarney, than it did for DHL to get it from China to the North!

Customs covered? Just seems a bit risky as parcelmotel won't have anything to do with you if custom tax is involved.

I know there are a few owners of the mk908ii in here and i'm wondering have any had issues with Wi-Fi speeds? When i got the device first i was getting around 20mg download speed but now i struggle to get past 3mg and it does make watching youtube a pain with constant stops and starts. I have UPC 240/24 package.

If you're using a wireless mouse Dominoman made an astute discovery that the airmouse dongle was strongly interfering with the antenna signal & switching to Google TV remote boosted it. Any smartphone remote or even a usb cable extension to run the dongle away from the vicinity antenna should help.

A rapidly degrading signal such as yours (if you're not changing Roms) may point more to environmental factors - I'd move the box around and see if it improves.

I am using an airmouse and used a usb extension cable as you suggested and this has fixed the issue. Big thanks for the advice and fix :)

Maybe I did something stupid, uninstalled XBMC then downloaded KODI,now I get Superuser Denied message and can't find an option in Superuser to allow KODI.It's probably an obvious fix but for the life of me,I can't do it.KODI starts,I get the message and the box hangs, requiring me to turn it off & on again.:o

Geekbuying and Dealextreme now have EU warehouses, more limited stock selection though

Any opinions on the WeTek Play? https://wetek.com/#home_internet_tv seems to be highly recommended on the kodi forums

Or would I be better off with one of the Chinese boxes?

I was reading through Dealextreme's t&c's and they don't have a physical warehouse in Europe, they send deliveries through the Netherlands and you could still get caught with customs
