Have any of u had to have a c section done on any of your dog and how much did to cost. ?

Had a springer spaniel bitch in trouble whelping once,couldn't believe it when the vet charged me 350 euro to do a c section,they have you by the short and curlys when you are in that position,and do they know how to squeeze.

That a lot of money. My big old style bitch is in heat and i want to give her my old style dog. I know she'll need a c section to have pups.

just cover the bitch and get her a scan at 5 to 6 weeks and your vet will tell if shew will need 1 or will not know until the time comes have vet on standby dont be afraid to spend a few quid on the bitch she is giving you her litter of pups 350 the price of 1 pup

your some man to be able to predict the future and the vets with all their training experience and equipment cannot they will judge by the dog uterus and if waters break and nothing is coming..

It is far from normal to have a C-section on a bitch... 6 or 8 small pups are a lot easier to have than 1 large offspring.

I can get a c-section on a cow for €150.
Anyone paying more is being had...

I'm doing this because her last litter all died ,She had huge big pups but all died.

I know i'm a long time at dogs and never had a c section on any, But this is a big bitch and she makes big pups so i don't want t loose the litter again.

This is why i will go the c section way os as there,s no risk to her.

I'd be careful and give it a lot of thought. Could go pear shaped for her and she might not take to the pups. You'll want plenty of time supervising both and be ready to play her role as mother for a few weeks if it doesn't go well...
Tricky situation and depends how badly you want a pup from her I guess.

150 is that including VAT and drugs? That's very cheap. Local vet charges 250 plus VAT and drugs.

When did they die? Were they born alive? Is it possible that they died from infection, like fading puppy syndrome? Was it her first litter.

I do a deal with them at the start of the year....they must show their prices like dentists/doctors/solicitors etc.

The problem she had is one very large pup blocked the way for the rest so when she did give birth they were all dead. But only just.

I have 2 very big springers not leggy big boned heavy dogs i'd love to get a litter from them.

Spot on , my uncle had an absolute disaster with lab pups a few years back , the vet ****ed up the stitching on the bitch and sowed her up like an old football ,he went into the kitchen that evening and the dog was lying there with her intrails out.All the pups had to be hand rared as the bitch was in some state after ,so if you are getting it done make sure your lad is good,might dock them for you as well

As mentioned the bitch might reject them ,that happened to one of the lads in the club after a section.It was her third litter but the other 2 came normally and no problems but with the section ones where just a no go.I only ever heard of 2 other lads down the years in the club that had to get it done and they had no problems with the litters so it is just pot luck , but no harm being prepared.

did you try bring them back , when our dog had 13 years ago it was hard for the bitch and see could not manage them as they came out ,so we heated tea towels up in the oven and as they came out we shook them to get the fluid out and get the lungs going and rubbed them down with the tea towels then when they started whining put them down to the bitches mouth, hard going on the bottle feeds to help the bitch out but all 13 survived.Must dig up a few photos of them.

Yes i tried everything it was a shame the biggest pup was a bitch almost all liver and huge there were 8 in total.

It is very important to know when to call a vet. They would have been able to deliver the first pup early and then save the rest of the litter. A lot cheaper than a section and better for the bitch.

Shame it didn't work out.
Worked in a vets for work experience when I was still in school and there was a Yorkie with 7 pups and when she had them only two were moving. So myself and two vets had hot towels and shook and rubbed them hard and all but one started moving and crying.

I had to send my staff a fee years to the vet in ucd in dublin she could not deliver the pups her self so they gave her a c section said the pups were to big .. they kept her in over night and when i went to pick her up they gave me a bill for 790 euro ...

Hindsight is a great think.By my dates she was 3 day early.

This is the pair. Pictures are not great. I weighted them both and the dog is 5 stone 1 pound and the bitch is 5 stone 6 pounds she is a few pounds over should be her normal waight which is a wooping 5 stone.

By my calculations the bitch weighs roughly 35 kg and the dog around 32 kg....wow. are u sure the scale is working ok. Whatever about 32kg for the dog (he must be huge) 35 kgs for the bitch doesnt sound right to me. I have never ever heard of a purebred springer bitch even come within 10 kgs of the figure you have. Then again theres always a first time
