I weighted them both and the dog is 5 stone 1 pound and the bitch is 5 stone 6 pounds .

By my calculations the bitch weighs roughly 35 kg and the dog around 32 kg....wow. are u sure the scale is working ok. Whatever about 32kg for the dog (he must be huge) 35 kgs for the bitch doesnt sound right to me. I have never ever heard of a purebred springer bitch even come within 10 kgs of the figure you have. Then again theres always a first time[/QUOTE]
Yes the scales are fine . They are big dogs all right she is a little over waight. Im a long time trying to get that stamp of dog. I put them together today so fingers crossed i'll i have there pups.

This is the pair. Pictures are not great. I weighted them both and the dog is 5 stone 1 pound and the bitch is 5 stone 6 pounds she is a few pounds over should be her normal waight which is a wooping 5 stone.

Fine pair of dogs, are they good to hunt?

I had to send my staff a fee years to the vet in ucd in dublin she could not deliver the pups her self so they gave her a c section said the pups were to big .. they kept her in over night and when i went to pick her up they gave me a bill for 790 euro ...
I call to see my vet today to discuss what to do. I asked her what she would charge me for a c section 250. But she said she would do a scan at 4 weeks to see first was is she in pup and there size.

Did you ever give the collar a bash .I had a lad before and if he was working with a certain bitch I had it could develop into a bit of a race to the bird sometimes but it was only with her .1 day with the collar and it sorted him out .Just a couple of beeps on a medium setting and worked a treat. Two lovely dogs by the way .Some head and neck on that dog.

shes a perfect age mate her and get her scanned at 4/5 weeks the vets will be able to give a fair indication of qty pup size at that stage

its quite possible she will go again at 60 days I had a bitch once she was on the button 61days she had 2 litters

a bit of advice I got from an old family friend a vet many years ago was to start taking the bitches temp about a week before she was due a fairly dramatic drop and you could be expecting pups about 12 hours later

then you can be watching her closely for any signs of straining without producing a pup 2/3 hours is about the max I am prepared to leave them

the last litter my bitch had was a c section she was fine after and reared 8 good strong pups and took to them immediately after waking up

good look with the breeding if you decide to go ahead

The bleeding head on them two. They look like big strong dogs. Old type Springers? Believe they're getting rarer and rarer nowadays
Best of luck with the pups

Got no papers with them but had a look for a chip in the vets yesterday the bitch has none but the dog did and he registered with the IKC so i'll call them to see can i get his papers in my name. The lads i bought them from weren't into papers just old style springers.
