Anyone with a concession get any type of deal from them? I've already a 31 reduction from the concession and best I can do is another 25 off for four months and 5 off for another two months plus two months sports and movies free.

Phoned on the 30th day after I got the email, last Friday afternoon, at 5.50, so just a few minutes left to sort it! On hold for about 15 minutes only, call was quick.

Had the €55 a month broadband, now on €25 a month for first 4 months, then €45 a month after that.

Didn't threaten to cancel, just said I wanted the price on the billboard near my house.

Thanks the op! Happy to have the saving.

Were you already paying for these? Just wondering if they are only giving this to those that don't already subscribe to sports or movies or is it to everyone?

No but they ain't much use as I have access to Sky go. If they threw in BT sport/setanta for the year I might bite.

Just a word of warning on the Free Sports/Movies. Keep an eye on bill as they charged me for it when it was meant to be free, took an age to get them to fix it plus id to wait for next bill to get bill credited.

Rang loyalty this morning, wait of about 5 mins. Was offered 240MB for €35 for the first 6 month then €45 after. 12 month contract. Happy enough with that. Was on 120Mb at €42.99 per month with the pay increase.

6 months half, 6 months full.
Setanta/BT for free for 2 months or sky sports/movies at 20% off for as long as wanted. No cancellation fees if later eliminating them

cancelled the upc tv, kept the broadband/upgraded to 240mb deal. Got it half price for 4 months. They originally said they couldn't budge on the €45 per month as i wasn't a new customer. So i told them we've been with them 5 years and never complained, always paid on time and never got a single discount off them. They eventually offered the half price for 4 months.

Earlier i had ordered Sky for TV and got a very good deal. Had intended to compare it with what UPC would offer but it was so good i didn't bother. Shaved €30 off the current UPC bill for more channels than we're currently getting. 25% off for 12 months. UPC loyalty rep offered to match what Sky were offering (minus movie channels) but it was too late will see how we get on with Sky. Hopefully they don't bump up prices too much in 12 months time :)

Hi all, my 50% of deal for Horizon Max, 200mb BB is due to end Feb 15th. I have just been onto the Loyalty dept in limerick at 061-272190 trying to see what deal I can get now. I was told because I was coming of the 50% offer the best they can offer is €15 a month off for 6 months then full price - is this a fob off ?
Have any of you coming off the 50% off deal got 6 months for 1/2 price this time round ?
Is it worth trying again for the better deal ?

    Thanks.

I'm not coming off a 50% deal but I'd say it's a fob off. I rang the other day and got offered €15 off a month (€65 instead of €80) for 6 months, but rang back again today and got half-price for 6 months and then on to full price. The guy even said "You've been to Loyalty dept already so there's no point going back to the start, I'll go straight to half-price for 6 months". Consider €15 off their opening offer.

Thanks FrClintPower - Thats what I was thinking.
I will try again on Monday.

Like yourself my Horizon max 12 month deal came to an end. Loyalty dept gave me a further six months on half price and six on full price 12 month contract. Really depends who you get.

Coming off the 12 month 50% off deal so gave the loyalty rang earlier. Was offer €15 a month off for 4 months initially, told them I wanted the 6 months half price deal that a few people on boards were getting. The agent spoke with his supervisor and came back with 50% off for 4 months and that they weren't offering the 6 months to customers coming off the previous 12 months 50% deal so I'll be ringing again tomorrow and give it one more shot

Thats crap, I'm just off 12 month deal. Offered €15 off, then 4 months, then I threatened to cancel and like you explained others getting 6months, was offered it straight away. Haven't took it yet.

I will say I cancelled and am due to be cut off this Friday and not one phone call from them. Will sit down on Thursday and ring SKY and UPC and see whos cheaper. There's not much in it anymore but every penny counts this years as funds are tight.

Im gona have some crack when I ring them on behalf of my mother and father. Just noticed the other thread re broadband and free calls for €45 euro a month!

They are currently paying (after the increase) €68 for 30mb broadband and calls. They have 2 of the older boxes (one recordable and one normal) No movies both with sky sport and MUTV. The total Feb bill was 167.98.

They do get about 30 euro off each month as theres a UPC booster box on the side of the house but that's still madness imo

I'm finished on my 12 month deal also. Rang the loyalty dept. twice today as I wasn't happy with the first deal being offered ;). Was on the 120 limited package and now moved to the limitless 240mb with unlimited calls to Irish mobiles, local & national landlines + 400 minutes to 22 international destinations. €22.50 for 6 months then €45 for 6 months. Quite happy with that. I also get a new free modem :D

I called as I'm now out of contract and last years deal has now ended. I got 6 months half price on my TV & BB package (I've no phone) with the exception of multiroom, which is €11/month and which they never include in the offers. Happy enough with that, but to be fair its what it should've been in the first place, before quoting nonsence monthly prices and before wasting time sending out another price increase only just last month.

Im just finishing a 12mth deal with UPC, my area has old cable which can only handle 30Mb speeds,(max 2MB download in reality) loyalty dept gave me a deal Jan 2014 of €31 per month for 30Mb broadband/150 anytime phone, (I dont use their phone), now in Feb 2015 they want to bump up my bill to €45 per month, no upgrade has been carried out in my area so they can't offer faster speeds, I called loyalty dept & they offered me a new 1yr deal, 6mths at €31 rising to €40 for the 2nd 6mths, in a nutshell after June 2015 they will be charging me an extra €10 per month but can't offer any improvement in their service, I told them Im looking at other options.
Their new offer works out at €426 over 12mths but I checked their site & they actually have a unlimited BB/phone offer working out at €400 over 12 mths, or better still they have a limited BB/phone offer working out at €340 for 12mths.

I just switched to Sky this morning. UPC offered me the half price 6 month deal, wouldn't budge past that. Rang SKY and they basically matched it, all be it in a round about way with discounts. Delighted now as I'll have the dish installed for any future Freeview installments I might pursue.

I hadn't the best reception with UPC on windy days which they seemed unable to fix after 14 months of trying. That and also the Horizon box had started to get on my nerves.

I emailed in my upc cancellation a month ago and the only reply I got was a request for arranging a time to collect my equipment. No confirmation what so ever and not a single communication to see if I would alter my mind.

That's that sorted for another 12 months....will see you all again then. :)

Anyone know what the story is...

I got the UPC letter less than 2 weeks ago, 30 day cancellation etc on it. Rang UPC and they are saying they sent on 7th, according to there system anyway. There is no date or nothing on the letter.

The only date is that the price will increase from 1st Feb. Anyway I have escalated because there is no details or anything to suggest it was actually sent on 7th. I talked to first person and she was useless. They put me to loyalty and he said should be date on letter but there is none on mine,,,....

I am not impressed so going to cancel everything now but they want a cancellation fee. From a legal standpoint where am I? How can they say they have given 30 days notice with no date on letter?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57 ✭✭noeleeee

Finally... just off the phone with loyalty dept. The upped their initial offer of €15 off a month for 6 months to 1/2 price for 4 months yesterday.

Called again today and received the 1/2 price deal for 6 months. So I am happy with this now. Still not as good as last years deal of 1/2 for the 12 months :(

Looking like this is the best that is out there so that's to all that have posted their offers.

Yeah, every deal they offered me had a price after a promotional period that was above current price even with the coming price rise included. So that was unacceptable.

Sent the cancellation email and requested they remove their cabling from the front of the building. Heard nothing since. I'd imagine they'll get in touch soon, removing the cabling from the front of the building would deprive them of offering service to my neighbours who all use UPC AFAIK. Unless of course they start digging up the road andmove all the cables. If they don't get back in touch it'll just be a case of snip with the bolt cutters time.

any reason for doing this? It wouldn't interfere with anything would it? We cancelled UPC for the tv (kept the broadband) but would it not be easier to keep the cabling in place incase you want to change back down the line?
