Wanted to post this up now rather than let it get caught up in the show-writing time coming up. I think it's probably best if possible that next year, someone else take the mantel of running the draft.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy it immensely, and I'd happily play second fiddle if someone wants to take charge but have a sounding board to talk to. But I feel as if this years wasn't hugely exciting and I think a fresh mind might be able to do more with the draft than I am. I would honestly hope that someone who is a PW regular would want to inject some fresh ideas into the process, and I think it would be better for the community here if someone else took charge. But I fear that this year's draft was a bit disappointing in terms of stips and the usual buzz around things, and that's down to me not being very creative with it.

There's obviously 10 months before anyone needs to commit, and there's no point assigning it over to someone now, and then 10 months from now, they don't post any more or have changed their minds. But I feel it's a good idea to plant the seeds of discussions now and let someone think about it, plan it out, etc.

(That said, if no one does, I will run it next year too; don't want it to die. Just want to offer the chance to some one(s) else if they want it :) )

Weird pick I know but she has been involved (and looked good) in so many inter-gender matches and I love her promo style so just had to take her. She has been in my plans since day 1 so delighted to get her!

I have enjoyed the draft this year Lord TSC and think you did a great job.

You might get more enjoyment yourself stepping back. I would have no bother stepping in next year if you still feel the same.

Yeah me either! I have a few ideas for Stips (which, in hindsight, I probably should have messaged you about!)

I think you left out Jester's missed pick in the draft listing TSC so I'll PM him now. There was a gap in my spreadsheet of rosters and I couldn't figure out why :P

Really understandable TSC you have done a great job and will be missed next year.

I would not mind taking care of next years draft but be warned I would have stips abound as I think the best rounds are the ones you really have to think about.

Having said that TBC has done a great job and it is up to the participants to make it exciting with their picks and writing style

I've enjoyed the Draft this year too.

LTSC, I think when you're at the helm it's natural to place a lot of pressure on yourself to make it work. Plus in the earlier years it was easier to surprise people with fun stuff. This is the eighth year so it's a lot more challenging to come up with ideas. I came up with a stip idea a few weeks back that was pretty lame let's be honest!

Maybe the lot of us can make a serious effort to brainstorm a few ideas once this year's game ends and there might be a few gems that emerge for next time.

With regards DM's point though, I have to say I personally did find it more enjoyable when I stepped back. It was nice to be able to put my mind solely towards ideas for my roster, and not have to think about any administrative aspects. I'd be interested to hear if Bounty Hunter felt similar to me because he also ran it one year.

So if you think you might be in a similar situation maybe a break from running it might be best for you, but my advice would be to think about it some more because there's loads of time before deciding anything for definite.

Way too harsh on yourself Lord TSC. Found the draft extremely enjoyable again this year. Thanks for taking the time to run it.

My Show 1 is up, featuring the shocking return of
    Lithium

Any thoughts or feedback welcome. I'll look to give feedback to the stuff I've missed when my mind isn't so tired.

Hey Lord TSC, I can say that this year's draft has been just as enjoyable as last year's, and that is very enjoyable. Stips can be hard to come up with but as others have said we can all bash heads together next year whoever is running the thing.

However, this year you have committed one mortal sin. It cannot be avoided, and, I'm afraid, it's grounds for instant dismissal - perhaps even a short ban...

You have been misspelling Lebowskilite consistently throughout this year's draft. My mother gave me that name, unique as it is, and I've bottled up the anguish until now. I haven't pushed for your dismissal nor will I. Oh no, not a ban either. Instead I've been biding my time, tearing chunks of my hair out from my secret lair below the WWE ring. I'm twisted and crazy with rage - my WWE '13 CAW now wears a Kane mask - and I will have my vengeance, oh yes I will. Lord TSC, I'll see you this Sunday for a "Roster on a Pole" match. Winner takes home all 20 wrestlers from the other promotion, the loser leaves town*... forever!

*The town will be Kildare Town, the venue will be its largest car park.

But even if you do end up bloodied and beaten, with me standing over you, bladed to the nines, clutching in my hands your entire roster (by the hair), you'll still be more than capable of running a daycent draft. Srsly, this year's has been great. We don't need to fight if you don't want.

I'd be interested to hear if Bounty Hunter felt similar to me because he also ran it one year.

First off, your doing a great job TSC.

I can understand your point re- the buzz considering there were less new stips or perhaps less stips in general but thats not necessarily a bad thing and in many ways was a result of you wanting to mix things up a bit. We always have stips at the start for example to allow big names to last longer but this year to change things around we didn't for instance.

Also there was no controversy which is the positive spin on a lack of buzz.

I can see how running the thing for a second time can perhaps take away a little of your own personal buzz too especially when you feel you arent making it different to your last one and as MNG said perhaps there is unneccesary pressure added due to this.

If im fully honest I didn't actually enjoy the draft less when I ran it but and I think its a big but the draft was not the beast it is today at that point and ran at a much slower pace. Considering virtually everyone involved this year is a regular and has been involved before (maybe Sin eater is a draft virgin im not sure) this moves fast and I think a lot of people wouldnt realize how much you gotta be online or atleast how much you might think in your own head that you have to so as not to keep people waiting.

I'd happily run the thing again though I do think the idea of 2 running it together isn't a terrible idea.

    ----

on another note now that I started this post by saying your doing a great job... screw you TSC :D my non reversed round draws has not been kind
18, 3, 18, 17, 15, 15, 17 so far, but yeah I know its random and tbh I think ill get my pick anyway and im happy with my roster so far

Appreciate the kind words, though I will stress it wasn't a post that was thanks-whoring :P Still, the posts are appreciated.

Firstly, Ive only read a few pieces so far in relation to others write ups. Ive been stressing over my own and panicing to how to implement some story progression in my feuds. Have written two shows but im not happy with them yet, having awful writers block and with real life being stressful ive found it a harder draft this year than last. Mu minds not been on it as much, my picks weren’t all thought out and it seemed like everyone I wanted went before I got to pick them. The last round was awful for me as I had HTM, then Zack Sabre as well as Zeb all on my list. Grrrrrrr!

That being said Ive enjoyed this years draft so far and will thank TSC for his work and effort in making this a fresh experience. Its hard to juggle draft write ups as it is, so i can only imagine its been extra tough with people like me messaging you every so often about eligibility and so on. In short, Thanks Lordie.

I might be open to a trade for Sabre if you want to make an offer. Outside of my 3 top feuds my roster is pretty flexible as I wasn't drafting with a clear idea at that point. I've a few ideas for a few people but nothing set in stone yet.

Damnit! Becky was my next pick *runs to drawing board*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 418 ✭✭lebowskilite

I'm actually really happy with Chyna as a pick in Round <whatever that number was> and to get Kaientai again, although I imagine I could've waited until a later round and still got them.

Ideas are buzzing in my head for stories but I don't think I'll be doing my first show until after another couple of picks - not because I have gaps in my stories but more because of time constraints.

Chyna though, genuinely really happy to get Chyna, if not just because Trips was really unfair to her on the Austin podcast. :p

Also, Albert/Tensai is transfer listed if anyone is on the hunt.
