Djakadam undoubtedly going the Gold cup route.

25s with Paddy Power NRNB still a standout for me.

The Ryanair is often a race with great ante post value NRNB considering the majority of the quoted horses won't turn up.

Connections said if he wins well they'll give the Gold Cup serious consideration

Think he's best price 16s with them now for the GC. Agree with the Ryanair, quite surprised Don Cossack isn't a tad shorter now that Dynaste is out especially with the doubts surrounding Cue Card. Champagne Fever and a few more seem to have the Ryanair as an afterthought while if Johns Spirit couldn't win the Byrne Plate off 148 he cannot win a Ryanair Chase.

Anyone know if Kings Palace will run in the gold cup?
    20-1 seems a great price

Pipe said on his website that King's Palace should run in the RSA.

"Kings Palace is our only entry in the RSA Chase and I would imagine that will be his most likely target despite also holding an entry in the Cheltenham Gold Cup".

I backed him for the 2016 Gold Cup though. Got 33/1.

I know there's loads of tension in the build up to Cheltenham, but can we not let this spill out on thread. Remember to attack the post, not the poster, and please don't speculate as to posters' identities.

20/1 is an absolutely awful price for Kings Palace to win the Gold Cup, for starters you can get bigger, also he won't be running but if somehow he ended up in it the horse has won 2 novices chases beating the same 145 rated animal twice. He jumps nicely but in his first championship/Grade 1 race he was found out and that was an awful Albert Bartlett. Let him run in the RSA this year and see if he's good enough which I have my doubts about.

Spot on. I think he's probably, pound for pound, the most deceiving horse in training. People see him travel like a dream and jump like a stag but fact is he has never had to battle in any of his wins, even back in his bumper and hurdle days. The combined winning distance of his 6 career wins is 62l, showing two things - he's been against poor opposition and that when he wins it tends to be without a battle. He's very velnerable to a classy stayer with guts and will be found out by Don Poli in RSA IMO. I'd have him in JLT if I was Pipe, where his jumping could be used

Josses Hill will be lucky to get round at Cheltenham.

EDIT, not even good enough to beat Third Intention getting 11 pounds. UDS a likely 1/2 shot now.

Maybe his winning distance shows a third thing- the fact that he is a very good horse!

He hasn't beaten one top class animal, sure he has only run in one grade 1 himself and ran poorly. Sending an inexperienced novice who has loads to prove to the Gold Cup would be utter madness.

i said kings palace was the lay of last years festival and he's the same this years. I agree with Jim, send him to the JLT. When push comes to shove kings palace will absolutely down tools quicker than a bricky at 1pm on a Friday!

I'm raging...backed josses hill antepost given the scopey animal that he waS! Then last week backed him for the JLT thinking they'd run scared of UDS. He looks like he's ready for a career in show jumping now!

Here's a thought. In my experience weather goes in cycles. It has been dry for the last week or so and the long range forecast is saying there won't be much rain around for the next three weeks. If that is right we can expect Cheltenham to turn the taps on.

But if the weather were then to break and the dry spell was followed by a wet spell we could have the first heavy ground Cheltenham for many years. That could change a few things.

Not doubting you but 2 things:

What facts do have to back that up? Are you a weather researcher?

When was the last time Cheltenham had heavy ground - especially after the drainage work they had done.

For me, we may have bursts of weather, 2 or 3 days at a time, but I think this winter has been one of the mildest in the past 10 years or more, but recently we have had snow (which obviously ultimately melts) and lots of frost, but I think the over riding factor is the course drainage.

Also, for me, heavy ground results, like say Chepstow Welsh national, I believe leads to form that can be described as questionable to me.

I wouldn't be keen on a heavy ground Cheltenham, but it is the same for everyone, so let it be

6 weeks today we will be all reflecting on the events of the week

I am not a weather researcher but I have just looked up the long range forecast on the Met Office site. You are absolutely right about the drainage but if it rained all week on ground that had already been watered even with the drainage it could be pretty heavy by the Friday.

    Agreed

Nothing worse than watered ground getting rained on and hence giving false ground

Good to soft will do fine

Kings Palace is certainly underpriced for both the RSA and the Gold Cup. Really cant see the appeal of this horse, if he ran in the GC he wouldn't have a chance (id be fairly sure they wont send him to the GC) and id have at least 5 other horses in the RSA market as more likely winners.

Coneygree the best novice chaser ive seen this year, maybe with the exception of UDS

Coneygree and Kings Palace both need to front run too which creates a problem for both come the RSA. I'd be surprised if either won tbh.

Here's a fact. It is impossible, yes impossible,to know what the weather will be like in 10 days time.you can have all the forecasters, met offices, computers, weater analysists, that you like and none of them know what the weater will be like in 10 days time.

You could be right there. Though the market seems to be saying Coneygree goes for the gold cup? It would be madness for Don Poli to go for the 4miler in my opinion, the RSA looks winnable for sure

Mr Mole has impressed this year and hasn't beaten a bad yardstick in Brick Red.
Looks open to further improvement and I've a had an each way bet at 33s for the Champion Chase. With all the question marks over SS and SDG I think if he does continue his upward curve he could be involved.
Always seemed to have lots potential after his chase debut win over Vukovar. Only 7 too so again, further improvement looks well possible.
I think there's a bit of value at the price, especially if he runs a good race vs Sir Du Grugy next Sat.

Happy enough with this bet now.. BP now 12s, a general 8/1 elsewhere.
Nice bit of value at least..

Nico fell asleep during the race, he missed the fact that the only danger to him Sausalito (?) Sunrise fell 6 out, Nico proceeded to shove him along and was even using the whip on the run in, quite a way from hard held.

Coneygree is my idea of the RSA winner but he definitely isn't at the same level of UDS

I don't know what you mean?

On ratings Coneygree won't achieve anything like UDS.

Do you have a link to where you tipped up Coneygree before St Stephens Day at 50/1, you might also post a link to where you tipped up Lord Windemere as a nap.

Judging by your last comment you think his run today was better than UDS last run, correct me if I am wrong

At a point when nobody ever heard of the horse I took 40/1 but yet again its my opinion.I retract my previous comments and apologise if I offended you.

No problem, no offence taken, I like the horse but wouldn't have him ahead of UDS or Vautour in terms of potential.

Where did you advise the 40/1?
