Pity about Zaha. Fergie rated him, but Fergies judgement wasn't necessarily the best as we all know well.

Once he fell out with Moyes, I don't think he was ever going to fit in.

    Neville on Ando.

"He has had some really good performances, but not consistently and I wonder whether that has been because of fitness as he’s picked up a lot of injuries. He’ll look back at his Manchester United career with some level of disappointment. I’ve played with him, he’s got an enormous amount of talent and there have been some really big games at Anfield where he has shown he is capable of playing in the big matches. He is a big-game player, has a big-game mentality, lots of skill but never was fit enough to be able to do it consistently, week in and out in the Premier League and that’s a real shame. That’s when you have those players who look back at the end of their careers and wonder: ‘Could I have been that little bit more driven?’ He has the talent but lacked in other areas and was unfortunate with injuries."

Really is a shame, I'll always have time for Ando but it just wasnt meant to be.

Lingard was in the line up for the u21's, then pulled out before K.O and now theres talk of a loan deal before 11, possibly to Derby.

Seriously quiet around here tonight compared to recent deadline days. A full superthread in 3 or 4 days last August if I remember correctly.

if those 3 lads leave and youd assume Lindegaard would leave also, thats 18 senior players who were signed during Fergies tenure, who have left since he retired.

    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
"It was important to me to leave an organisation in the strongest possible shape and I believe I have done so," he said.
"The quality of this league winning squad, and the balance of ages within it, bodes well for continued success at the highest level whilst the structure of the youth set-up will ensure that the long-term future of the club remains a bright one.

It's not his fault, how could he know? He was utterly blinded by the fact that any random assortment of men between the ages of 18 - 35 would look like a quality squad when managed by him.

    He is a big-game player, has a big-game mentality

There's being polite about a departing player and then there's just talking bollocks.

with his last signing gone (Zaha), Ando and Fletch going, this window reinforces just how much of an upheavel has taken place in the squad since Fergie left.

with the futures of Rafael, jones, Smalling, Evans all under threat, you are talking maybe 5-6 players maxium left out of the squad who won the league which is pretty shocking considering Ferguson said the squad secured the long term future of the club.

I think the problem has been that they were all of fergies players it was so obvious last year that ferdinand and the like didn't want to play for moyes. The other defenders cant string a few games together without been injured. The midfield was none existent and januzai will learn alot from this season and hopefully come back stronger.

Have not read back through last few pages, what do people reckon loss on the 18m outlay on Zaha will be?......
I would think his fee will be between 8 and 10m...but will prob remain undisclosed as its not a great example of a business model to lose so much on an 'asset' in so short a space of time..

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,995 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

The fee going round is 3m.

    Where you getting 18m from?

Is that not about what United signed him for in the first place?

That's what he's meant to have cost,as poorly as he has done 3m for him is an absolute steal, has tremendous potential if he straightens himself out and Pardew will have a right go at doing that.

We paid £10m plus add ons that would have taken it to £15. Obviously he wouldn't have met any of the conditions of the add ons. We're apparently selling him for £3, with another £3m of add ons.

To be fair some of his best performances came against Arsenal and Liverpool and he also came on as a kid to score a penalty in a Champions League final.

Real pity he never fulfilled his potential.

anyone know where to get a reasonably priced United team poster? allposters.ie postage is pricey. The little fella is looking for one.

Also some huge performances against Chelsea I not sure why Neville would bull****e other than the fact Ando was loved by his teammates.

The Zaha deal was £15m, with £10m upfront and the rest add ons.

needless to say, we didnt pay a penny in add ons so it "only" cost us £10m.

he did however cost us about £3m in wages so i guess people are adding the £15m plus the wages and getting £18m but its not quite accurate.

in saying that, its been a horrific deal for us and to lose so much money on such a young player reflects really badly on the club.

Sky Deutschland have said that Mats Hummels will leave Dortmund in the summer and Utd are favourites to sign him :)

Sorry to see fletcher go he was the best example of big game players on his day. Hopefully he will return as coach in a few years

Lads, he is wearing a United top?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 32,439 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

Rafael was pleased to complete a mask-free 90 minutes for the U21s tonight. He told MUTV: "I did use a mask [for my cheekbone injury] for four weeks in training. The doc said I couldn't play without it. It was bad as sometimes I can't see through the mask! Of course, 90 minutes is always good and now I look forward to playing a first-team game."

That might explain why he has only been on the bench

Fletcher just arrived in his own car at West Brom.

thats him gone....Zaha and Anderson not yet confirmed tho and i am shocked that Lindegaard has not moved on. surely theres a club looking for a really decent keeper in a top league somewhere.

    xZtlqTS.gif

    Telling gif in many ways.

In the end, a characteristic that served SAF well in almost every facet of his managerial career, positivity, undermined our midfield because of his attitude towards some of the players in there. SAF showed far too much faith in Hargreaves, Anderson and Fletcher by turns to come back from injury. We're only now putting it right.

Some amount of figures all day being posted on various forums in what's zaha cost. By all means he was a bad signing but £10m fee and £35k a week for less than a season (he was out on loan more than he was at the club) is not that excessive for one of the brighter prospects in English football. Only himself to blame if his attitude sucked.

Fully anticipate the £3m add ons been met this time, and hopefully the club are wise to put a sell on clause in the agreement. I wish him all the best, just was never United standard, like Bebe.

Glad to be back permanently and appreciate all the messages #CPFC #home

So I doubt that there'll be any issues.
