What has it got to do with it? We have international and club teams that are among in the best in the world at it and it's a far superior sport to the ****e that is American football.

Some people just love the superficial nonsense that America produces though.

It's terrible when other people don't like stuff that you think is good, and like stuff that you think isn't good. Isn't it?

I've seen some nonsense posted here in my time but this takes the biscuit. Do you take an interest in every sport that Ireland are represented in? Or just the ones they're good at?

Phew!!! He made it anyway. I was a bit worried there when Paddy Power said he got stuck in the transfer window.

Some reports are gathering around saying that Louis van Gaal has spoken personally to Marquinhos to push through a deal today.

I wish i could believe it though

    Is it a free transfer?

I doubt it. I'd say we are paying a shedload in wages to get it done.

I never could understand Irish people watching this nonsense. I know some Irish people who would watch this crap and not watch rugby. Makes no sense to me.

What makes rugby so exclusive to Ireland?

And football since you watch it.

I can't help but feel an irony in your post. Complaining about American football and then you supporting man utd, an English team.

Talk about nonsense. Try forming a logical argument.

I'm talking about rugby Vs American football here which is totally relevant since American football was formed from Rugby.

The games are similar. It's down to whether you like all the superficial crap connected with American sports, stoppages every 2 seconds and quarters instead of halves so they can ram more advertising down your throat.

Compared to American football? It's a far superior sport for a start with a large Irish following, good club teams and a good international team.

I'm using rugby as the comparison since it's a very similar sport that AF used as the foundation to create their own crappy version of.

I guess you would prefer to watch Nascar over F1 as well?

    MEH

I'm not even into Rugby much myself but compared to American football there is no contest.

    In your opinion.

Others might think American Football involves a lot more plays, more tactical... and some even enjoy the hype around it possibly.

If there was less breaks in an American Football game, personally I'd watch it any day over rugby.

There is nothing similar at all about American Football and Rugby other than the shape of the ball.

Fine whatever. Use the opinion card.

In some peoples opinion Justin Bieber is a musical genius.

Or that neither kick the ball much so shouldn't be called football.

Read what you just typed. Just stop, and read it. Why are you talking about rugby vs American football in the United superthread?

The absolute height of irony. Your argument is: "Irish people should like what I think they should like"

    Logic.

American Football is crap, Mata isn't good enough, Fellaini isn't good enough, I wonder what's next?

Nani is worse than Anderson and De Gea will never amount to anything.

Beckham was never up to much.

Mike Phelan was a terrible assistant manager.

There was a study done recently and it was found that the ball is in play a whole 11 minutes during the average NFL game.

Anyways in defense of Am Football it is a cultural thing. American kids grow up playing it along with baseball, basketball and now soccer, much like kids in Ireland who play hurling, gaelic football, soccer and rugby. I don't think any particular sport is "better" than the other, it's about what is the norm where you are.

Doesn't a rugby game average 22 - 36 minutes in play, with the ball either in a scrum/ruck or going sideways most of the time? All down to taste my friend.
