that pic was taken at Wembley day before the final, after that conversation took place, even in the picture, you can see the disappointment in berba's face, he had just been told he didn't make the squad for the final. After that as the training continued he was totally lifeless, like the life was sucked out of him, he just wanted to get the hell out of there.

    It's gospel so!!

So absolutely no evidence at all to support your statement. Grand so.

On a side note, nice to know Fergie had no class and dropped one of players on the training pitch in front of the press. Good to know....

Berbatov is on record stating he was told he wouldn't be in the squad after he arrived at the stadium, about 40 minutes before kick off.

Ferguson even mentioned it in his post match interview, that he decided on Owen in the run up to kickoff.

One of the main talking points was how Berbatov calmy got out of his kit in the dressing room, into his suit, and left the dressing room without saying a word.

Ferguson stated that he chose Owen last minute, in that maybe he would be able to snatch a goal if things were tight, but the game developed into a Barcallona domination second half.

You spout so much rubbish it's not even funny. There is literally a video of Berbatov at a press conference after his move to Fulham, in Bulgaria, where he was candid and open about his exit and what happened on that night in Wembley.

I didnt know you can read a conversation from a still picture, or was present for the training, or know what he wanted.

Also furthermore, the picture you are presenting as "the moment" is an image Sky used to headline a story about Berbatov moving to PSG, and was taken during pre-season, a few weeks before Berbatov moved to Fulham.

Making lies and spinning bollox about Berbasaur is simply the line, your ****ing dead to me.

berba knew the night before he wasn't in the squad.

where is this stated? he only came into the dressing room after game was over.

Unless you can provide absolute proof either way (both sides), perhaps it's better if we move on....

I wouldn't typically defend bangkok for a variety of reasons but if you do a reverse google image search, plenty of the results state it is from training in Wembley. However, none state it was the moment he was dropped.

Not sure if there's many STH on this site but what do people think of this. One of my friends in college is a STH and he says the vast majority of fans know they're obliged to buy tickets for FA cup and Champions League home games. I think it's just slow news day rag talk and an attempt by the media to take the piss out of Manchester United after they all ran the story about City selling 2 for 1 tickets to a CL game.

Has this not come up before? I seem to remember something similar last year. Bit of a non-story IMO especially if STH's know they're obliged to buy the tickets.

Will happily apologise if it is indeed from Wembely, however the quick googling I did brought up descriptions on the pic of Ferguson and Berbatov in pre-season training.

Either or, both sides indicated the decision was made in the run-up to kickoff, not in advance.

And let's not go back on that decision, one of the most idiotic managerial decisions I have ever seen.

Did this happen before the bayern game last year??

Not really. A few of us here were happy with it and it was actually predicted before it happened.

Berbatov was in horrible form at the time. In the league game against Blackpool a few days prior, he couldn't hit a barn door. Owen then came on and within a few mins he scored. People at the time felt more confident in Owen getting a goal from the bench and justifiably so. Berbatov's goal record and performances as a sub were really poor.

If it was me, neither would have been on the bench though. I would have started Nani and put Rooney up front on his own with Hernandez being the striker in the bench.

What was the team and bench for that match? Just out of curiousity.

    Couldn't be arsed googling.

Playing Hernandez in that match was one of Fergie's biggest mistakes IMO.

We still probably would've lost but Nani and Valencia on the flanks would've given a good counter attacking threat at the time and Park would've done a better job of disrupting Busquets from starting attacks, something Rooney couldn't get to grips with. Rooney would've done a much better job of holding the ball up top than Hernandez did. It was almost like playing with 10 men at times such was the ineffectiveness of Chico.

Its a non story. If a ST holder doesn't know what they have signed up for then they have no one to blame but themselves.

Yeah I think the thinking behind it was pace on the counter and that Chicarito would chase down the Barca defenders playing around the back but as Bayern showed a few years later the entire team has to press to be effective. Should have been Rooney on his own with 5 in behind. Played into Barca's hands that day but to be fair they were on another planet to any side so its hard to see how we would've lived with them anyways.

I don't think it mattered who we had up front, my big concern leading up to that final was the astounding fact that despite getting schooled once already our midfield was going to be Carrick and Ryan Giggs. It was no surprise at all that we couldn't compete on the day.

Wonder every now and then how different would the club be, if we won those finals against Barcalona.

That would be what, 3 victories in 4 years? Wonder if we would have turned into an absolute powerhouse, like, unstoppable ****.

When you look at players who have turned away from us for rivals or other clubs, skimping on transfer fees, not competing for big targets for years.

Oh what might have been had we won those.

The 09 Final Irritates me greatly, it was there for the taking personally, 2011 we were totally out played and got a goal totally against the run of play.

The same thing would have happened. Sure Giggs and carrick won 3 finals in center mid. We don't need a new players.

Valencia needs to play every game. Sure he won 3 cls.
