I wonder would EE be brave and have her involved in perhaps an terrorism group

    Oh come on now. Really.

Phil's actually such a joke now I'm sorry, so different to his heyday, especially when Grant was by his side. Phil was the brains and mainly calm of the operation, he's just a different person now

I disagree, Phils character has changed very naturally, with age and by certain events in his life. Nothing forced or extravagant about it. I'd like to revisit his drinking days again though. Hopefully he will wake up one morning, look at Sharon beside him in the bed and feel the urge to grab a bottle of Whiskey

I expect her secret is somehow related to money?

Also, can someone remind me how to put spoiler tags on here? not been on for a long time, and have forgotten. Ta :)

I think that's the idea though, hes not like phil, he is weak and is gay, the complete opposite of what phil wants him to be and no matter how much he tries to pretend he isn't for his dad he can't change who he is. And I think its good how that makes him more mentally unstable and interesting as a character. As much as I do laugh at him a lot and roll my eyes when he tries to act like phil :pac:

The thing is, Ben has dealt with a lot of stuff throughout his life that to me, it would be acceptable to toughen him up. Growing up with a father who has had alcohol and drug problems, abusive step mom, sexually confused because he was brought up in a tough environment, not to mention being in prison. All that factors could be the drive needed for Ben. Being in prison I would have thought Ben might have matured physically and mentally. Either way I just think the fact that he has been taken down quite easily is kind've silly to me. He could at least be presented as someone who is capable of standing up for himself.

Then again, most people who have taken him down have been guys who are older or more experienced. Would be interesting to see how he's portrayed with someone of equal status like Jay.
Because he is physically weak. The character has changed too much over time. To turn him into the incredible hulk would really be an insult to long term viewers. I'll just about accept him as he is now, the nervous rages, the slight psychosis, the paronia, the issue with his sexuality, the obsession with impressing/endearing himself to Phil, the lack of empathy towards most people and the social complexities. These have all been altered to develop the character. Leave him at that.

He doesn't need to turn into the next Phil Mitchell. But he could at least handle himself a bit. As far as his character is concerned, I refer back to Sean Slater, who had a similar character. But Sean was in the army of course, and usually guys who have been in the army on the show have been depicted as tough guys.

to make him into some hard man would negate the emphasis on most of his current personality traits.

He is the way he is because he is physically weak. That's why he has a lot of these psychological problems. Although we can all go to the gym, build our strength etc, it would be stretching the boundaries for Ben, who is physically small and cowardly with no athletic interest or seemingly ability to suddenly toughen up.

Most importantly though, I think it would make his character significantly less interesting to muscle him up.

Speaking of Terrorists fans of Eastenders on digital spy have long wanted a terror storyline

NO JOKE but would a soap ever do one

They think EE would be perfect because of the square

I really hope they don't go down that route. Couldn't see it being handled well.

In case anyone interested, a young Danny Dyer in a TV3 film Borstal Boy tonight. Don't think he's playing Brendan Behan though :)

Yeah, Muslims are getting a pretty bad rep at the moment as it is without Eastenders throwing a poorly handled, misguided terrorism storyline into the mix.

Given the early time slots EE has and the short running time per episode there's no way they could do a story like that and do it well. They shouldn't even consider it.

I think Ben could be a great psychopath, hes physically weak but he could have the brains to control others.Sometimes you need brains not brawn.

After all his early life was a bit of a shambles and hes weak like Ian which is what i think Phil doesnt like.

I was thinking the same thing. It'd be great if they had him eventually accept that he's gay and then still manage to be as intimidating and controlling as Phil is just in his own way. He may never be able to physically overpower people but he could run things so that it's never necessary for him to get physical.

Shabham's talk to Stacey about coping on her own with a child makes me think she could have had a child in the past maybe her own or as a surrogate (could explain all the money she has)

That's what made me think it too, plus the total character change, when the Masoods first came along Shabnam was a bit of a wild one wasn't she, pole dancing and the like. Then she upped and left for Pakistan, and now she's back and a very devout Muslim.

Except Ben does't have brains!! He is very misguided. I can't think of anything he has done in his life that has hinted at any real intelligence, whether street wise or academic

He was very bookish and nerdy when he arrived but that quickly faded!

Maybe Ben could dance people into submission, West Side Story style.

Was it just me who thought the Ben actor who killed Hev was by far the most nutter looking of the three. Well let's say two as the Ben above was just a kid. Nutter Ben made me feel uncomfortable just watching him.

This Ben looks cute even though I feel a bit pervy for noticing.
