Just reading on sky sports that we are paying the most wages each week, when you consider our squad v chelsea we have a LOT of deadwood. And do Rooney, Rvp play to the standard of their wages? absolutely not. Big shake up needed in the summer.

rooney, rvp, di maria and falcao wouldnt be far off collectively earning as much as any 4 players in any club in the world.

we are still paying Nanis wages, Anderson is only a huge salary, as is Young. Phil Jones is one of the best paid young players in the country, Adnan apparently is the best paid teenager in Europe.

it all adds up, our wage bill is shocking.

I'm surprised that a few people would be happy to see Falcao leave after such a short time.

He's had injuries and a manager that has used him very infrequently.

Rooney up front is fair enough but I'd rather a Rooney/Falcao partnership and RVP moved on if I had the choice.

I'm not worried about the summer at the moment.

What's crucial is United get top 4 and at the minute there's a bit of hard work in that.

Most important season since 06/07 for me.

Spending 45m on a world class CM and play Rooney up top >>>>>>> play Rooney out of position and spend 45m on a striker that is nowhere near his preinjury self.

We should be playing Rooney as a striker, he is our best striker. We should not be playing him out of position or dropping him to accommodate the inferior strikers.

I've advocated trying Rooney in midfield before, but it's clear right now that it's not working out. Just like it's clear that 352 is not working, that playing two centre-forwards is not working and that we need another right-back. Hopefully LVG cops on to all of this soon.

Fully agree with this. Rooney is far more effective up front and what we need around midfield is players who are used to playing 1 and 2 touch intricate passes that will allow us to create chances through the middle. Because at the minute we're creating absolutely nothing with the shape and personnel in the middle of the park.

Our best performances have come with us playing a 4-3-3 type formation with a back four and then:
    ---Herrera---Blind/Carrick---Di Maria---
    Mata

    Rooney
    RVP

This was mainly because our two strikers were fairly selfless in chasing a lot down between CB's and full backs and Di Maria was hard to pick up because he changed over and back between playing in the middle and out wide. I'm starting to come around to Pro F's line of thinking that we could be best served by having Mata playing off Rooney up front.

Will be interesting to see how Van Gaal changes it up after such a limp attacking display. I think Utd will get champions league but it ain't looking pretty.

We would be best served ditching Mata completely and putting Rooney back in the number 10 role with Falcao and Van Persie up front imo.

Mata simply doesn't offer enough. We need a number 10 who can score goals and offer more off the ball. Mata is anonymous in most games outside of offering a great pass every now and then.

Go back to the diamond with Rooney at the tip, Di maria and Herrera in attacking midfield and Carrick or Blind as defensive mid.

Same problems for me with Rooney in mid as in No.10 position; he will always go for the Hollywood pass rather than act as the type of creator we need in that position. We need to stop cramming Rooney into positions ahead of people who are more natural for that position.

Interestingly Falcao has re-tweeted a tweet where somebody has said (from what Google translate says) that he was in OT for the match and even met LVG in the tunnel after... Media causing a shítstorm over nothing me thinks.

So we keep hearing, maybe we'll see it sometime. I still know who I would rather have up front.

Unfortunately your preferred choice will cost us £40m+, while the other equivalent choice is already paid for.

Falcao has shown little so far and van Persie isn't good enough at the moment. Rooney up top on his own for me.

Falcao would have to get 15 goals min. in the rest of the season for UTD. to even consider buying, would be madness otherwise considering the money involved.

Atleast 15 imo. It's a serious amount of money for a guy who's 30 next year, scored 3 goals and been extremely average in his performances so far as well as being injury prone. It looks like LVG doesn't fancy him so if he does end up signing it most likely be mad man Woodward again trying to woo the fans yet again.

In English - "to make things clear, falcao indeed was in old Trafford on sunday in the match, to which I attended. he even met van gaal at the locker room after the match"

Tbh, think it's a bit unfair to judge Falcao atm. Hard to shine in a team so limp in attacking and who don't play to his strengths...or anyone's of that matter.

Love to see him come good but might be just another player whose at the club at the wrong time.

Rather than splashing more cash on players, I'd rather LVG fix the system and add some stability to the line ups.

While I get why people have doubts about Falcao, I don't think any striker would be scoring regularly with the way our midfield and wingers are so impotent....

+1 Re Falcao. There's a lot of good players struggling in that team at the minute. The players are trying but the set up and selection of players in different positions just isn't workin.

Rooney's being wasted in midfield and would be much better used up top but I can't see LVG going back on his original idea now and conceding that he was wrong.

In the first half of the West Ham game I was really starting to see how Rooney could offer more than Mata in that 10 position when behind two strikers - more touches of the ball, more selfless running to make space for others, more out-balls. Even though he doesn't have Mata's mad skills, he does offer something that might be better.

Having said that I'd still prefer to try Rooney plus Mata at the front of a 4411/4231 than any of these formations with three central forwards.

You didn't read my post correctly or missed my point. I said Rooney and Falcao would be my preferred strike partnership so thats not Rooney out of position. So how about a 45m MF player with Rooney and 45m Flacao up top. Its not like we are strapped for cash.

People writing Falcao off are hilarious. LVG has preffered RVP over him, sometimes bizarrely. RVP has 8 goals in 20 apps and Falcao has 3 in 12 apps. Doesn't look great but when you break it done further........

RVP's 8 goals in 20 apps came after 12 full games and he's had approx 1347 mins playing time.

Falcao's 3 goals in 12 apps are after only 2 full games with 604 mins in total.

Falcao has created 10 chances, 3 assits, has a 65% shot accuracy and a 86% pass accuracy in his time. RVP has created 19 chances, 2 assists, 56% shot accuaracy and a 85% pass accuracy.

I believe given a longer run and RVPs match time Falcao would be the better player for us.

I wouldnt really read too much into that, he just pretty much said he doesn't know where Falcao will be next year. Of course he will say that Falcao is a world class player who deserves 90 minutes at any club, he's his manager.

Think that's just the usual Mirror making a story out of nothing. I reckon this whole Falcao thing has been blown out of proportion.

Stephanie Roche who is a United fan, asked Ronaldo if he was going to return to United, he said it was difficult.
