That makes for a good question. Massimo Taibi?

Nowhere near. Fair enough he was muck for us but he had a respectable career in Italy

No no no no no I chose not to believe this, we are not spending 200 million on one player until we fix the rest of the team

It would be funny to see Messi try head in all of the crosses we fire into the box

Imagine how history will remember us. The club who bought Lionel Messi for £200 million and lumped balls up to him. The club who bought Lionel Messi for £200 million and cursed him with injuries. The club who bought Lionel Messi for £200 million and couldn't get him into a team because RVP and Rooney were fit.

We will be signing Ronaldo and Neuer to replace De Gea too.

    http://www.goal.com/en/news/1785/fifa-ballon-dor/2015/01/12/7899922/ronaldo-id-like-to-play-with-messi-and-neuer

Ronaldo said he would like to play with Messi and Neuer.

So just sign Messi and Ronaldo, sell De Gea and buy Neuer and Ronaldo gets his wish.

It's amazing how it got whitewashed away so quickly that in the four games he played, he had the 5-0 howler of a game against Chelsea and the Le Tissier blunder that he probably still sees in his sleep 15 years on... but in his other two games, he did well against Wimbledon in a 1-1 draw and was MOTM in a 3-2 win over Liverpool at Anfield:
Houllier had re-shuffled at half-time, bringing Czech international Vladimir Smicer in for midfielder David Thompson in a bid to get back in the game.

It worked and both Smicer and Fowler should have scored but the redeemed Taibi saved from point-blank range. He was later voted man-of-the-match.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/sport/football/fa_carling_premiership/444155.stm (remember when the internet looked like that and yet still somehow filled your whole screen :D )

Now he was 29 at the time so unlike a 20 year old Spaniard it might have been something he was never going to mature past or get over, but I wonder how much of his troubles were down to nerves in terms of stepping up to a higher level and replacing an all time great keeper at the same time. Was happy a few years back when I heard he had a solid career afterwards and the situation didn't ruin his confidence.

    Today’s headlines:

    - Ronaldo, Messi leave door open on their futures
    - Muller linked to Red Devils and Real Madrid
    - Juve won’t sell Pogba
    - Carvalho closes in on Arsenal move
    - Sanogo to join Palace on loan
    - Dzeko in shock move to Stoke City

A top three of Ronaldo, Messi and Muller would be nice...

Claims going around that Bayern Munich will sell Muller for £45 million who it is claimed would like to play elsewhere, with United and Real Madrid the two clubs linked.

Muller has said in the past he has a special relationship with Van Gaal.

Maybe it will be Muller instead of Falcao???

Muller is one of my favorite players. Would love to see him at Utd.

Muller has such a punchable face, and his low socks deserve a kick in the shins.

    Good player tho.

He is but his best attribute is his finishing....and United already have two good finishers in RVP and Falcao.

United don't play like Bayern or Barca....not at the moment anyway. United need a forward who can create chances for themselves and not need them all created for him. Surely Muller is not the type of forward needed? Great to have? Absolutely. Spend 50 million on him when other areas need looking it? Not so much.

    Could you imagine....
    De Gea
    Valencia - Hummels - Varane - Shaw
    DiMaria - Rooney
    Ronaldo - Messi - Muller - Falcao

Id nearly say its his movement rather than his finishing. V intelligent player

Almost as bad as using the term "epic fail".

Would you also call that an epic fail?

My opinion is...if we can get Muller then we won't be signing Falcao.

Muller is Adidas aligned too, both clubs he has been linked to are Adidas sponsored clubs too.
I think Muller goes to United if he leaves due to his closeness to Van Gaal.

We use to joke when no players were being signed back in summer 2013, about how we seemed to be just signing sponsors, well, it is making what seems ridiculous a possibility.

With Messi, who knows? He gets a lot of crap when things are not going right, maybe Barcelona wants to cash him in, when asked about City and Chelsea rumours as possible places he would go he said the rumours were lies. Yet yesterday he said he doesn't know for next season where he will be, so if one presumed he told the truth, he ruled out both City and Chelsea, United the only option if he does leave.
So it is Barcelona or United for Messi.

So, maybe we don't sign Falcao and we sign Muller instead, maybe Messi joins his Argentinian counterparts.

A number of players to be sold in the summer, top defenders, a top midfielder and two top attackers in the current/summer transfer windows?
We can dream thanks to all those top sponsors United signed.

Well, I've gotten to the stage now where I think Valencia could bang all the wives of all the players, while wearing a Liverpool jersey, and he'd still be on the teamsheet come match day :p

Valencia's improved slightly of late imo. He was one the few players on Sunday who did well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,140 ✭✭✭✭TheDoc

Muller never even dawned on me. I really don't see Falcao staying on end of term, as I keep saying unless he fires 15+ goals in the last what, 17 games, 40m+ and 200k+ wages a week is a rubbish investment.

But Muller...I never even thought about him. Interesting. I know a lot of people have beef with him but I'm a big fan. Can be a big drifty in and out of games, but he's a pretty unorthodox player that bags plenty of goals. The fact he makes runs and moves accross a backline to create pockets of space is something RVP and Falcao just arn't doing at the moment.

His nutmeg was epic as was his other knockaround. Coincidendtly the night before on FM got into my inbox "Antonio Valencia is not comfortable knocking the ball past opponents and running onto it"

With the pace he has he should be doing that all the time. His final ball is still gash though.
