    Me too :)

    Hi All,
I am new to this thread, I have also been called to the tests in February. I have also applied for the CO position and was successful at interview. I am on that waiting list and decided to go for this one as it's the area that I am, qualified in and have a lot of experience working in.
Does anyone know, the Conductor perhaps as he provided valuable information on the co thread, if this will follow the same process as the CO campaign in that the first test will be a test that you do at home and then if successful you do a supervised test ?
Also would the test be much tougher than the co test ?

    Thanks
    Westmeath11

    Hi Westhmeath 11

From previous competition s I ve done they follow a similar path although the EO one is more challenging than the CO one. Also when it came to testing there was an extra stage in the EO JSA as it used to be known from the ordainary EO. It's been a few years since either of these competitions have been run so it could have changed.

I got into the next stage to does anyone know exactly what the tests would comprise like an example maths and verbal question please :)7

    Thanks,
    Kevin

If it goes anything like previous competitions you will receive samples before the testing starts. I have older versions but as the application has change completely I don't think they are relevant now.

Just wondering if anyone got through without 5 honors in you leaving cert (or whatever the min LC grade was)

Through with 4 honours....BSc and MSc obviously deem LC results academic (forgive the pin ;) )

Through with hdip , Bsc hons and postgrad Diploma and 2 hons LC from 30 years ago. :)

The LC results- are minimum results.
You're not helping when you mention your BSc/MSc etc- they render the LC results moot.

Can you get in with less than the 5 LC honours in the leaving cert. No. Its a minimum standard. A BSc. (or any other degree or many diplomas) will trump LC results.

They do check- often after the fact. I've been a civil servant for 15 years- and have recently sent my leaving cert, along with other qualifications, to our competitions office. Keep in mind we have had some high profile people, in the Irish public sector- such as Barry McSweeney- who had proper qualifications and was a trailblazer in several different fields- who lied about a qualification- and were found out. Barry spoofed his PhD- he got it from an online college for submitting a paper that took him less than a forthnight to write.

Openly admitting that you've lied about your qualifications- is not a very good start for an organisation that prides itself on honesty- and an EO position is a management position- and does come under graduate recruitment- even if technically you don't have to be a graduate.

I would urge you to withdraw.

It's generally required that you bring the supporting documentation with you on the day of the interview at the latest, and often at the supervised testing stage. And if what you produce is insufficient to meet their requirements you get a nice email thanking you for applying and requesting that you don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.

I got through with 4 honours in LC, a third class BSc in Comp Sci, and about 7 years helpdesk experience

I'm 10 years in the civil service and I've never heard of that happening.

Has anyone received the Familiarisation Booklet yet? Will it be a PDF that email to us, a message left on our Public Jobs profile, or a physical booklet that is printed out and sent to us by snail mail?

It depends is what I would say.
If you get as far as interview stage you MAY be asked to bring supporting documentation to back up your qualifications.
You will be advise in advance of this.
I know I was when I went for interview a number of years ago. College qualifications, Microsoft qualifications etc,

I had to do this also. I brought college transcripts to PAS, they photocopied them there and then and gave me back the originals.

I had it bring all of my documents in at the interview a good few years back.

15 years a civil servant and the only time I have not had to bring my qualifications is when I've done an internal competition which is based on my length of service.

Every other time I've had to bring them and they've been checked.

I scanned in and e-mailed copies of mine to our competitions office in the last week- for an internal competition. Even internal competitions ask for them........

Edit- the competition was confined and limited to certain officers who hold relevant qualifications.

Sorry when I said internal competition I meant within the department I'm currently working. If their own records don't show them how long I've been there its fairly bad :P

If it's interdepartmental I've had them checked.

Our own Department- are checking our qualifications.
We have been asked at intervals to supply them (every 2-3 years) for updating personnel files (thats what we were told). We're now being asked for scans for any internal (not interdepartmental) competitions we apply towards.

    I'm a Civil Servant too.

My experience is that Public Jobs are very clear on this.

If you say you have qualifications or if you need qualifications to apply for a job you will be asked for them in the latter stages of a competition. They generally don't ask at the start as there's no point creating work for themselves but I've had to traipse down to their offices with my framed qualifications on a couple of occasions in advance of being offered a job/promotion.

    They will check.
