Personally I think instead of all arguing ye should go out and each make a video of your dog/s hunting. Then the truth will be known 😀 everyone is different lads, if we all liked the same thing this world would be very boring!
It's not an argument it's just a bit of a debate, no two lads train a dog the same way as no two dogs are the same

Ive been reading this thread and the dog knowledge displayed is so poor its actually worrying..the dog in question was delivering a still alive bird so letting it go prematurely would have resulted in a bird maybe flying away,,do any of you "experts in dog handling" know what your actually talking about?, because it comes across that you dont
I have dogs that when they come to u with a bird alive or dead will hold that bird until i say drop it. I don't have to fight them for it do u. ?

exactly you cant speak to your dog in a trial good man for proving a point there

no kid thats called a delivery they are not supposed to drop it on the ground in front of you its so you dont have to put down your gun the dog should hold it up for you

There's holding and there's hanging on and about not having to leave down your gun well unless he could hold it in the own mouth h would have to drop it as he needed to use two hands to take the bird off the dog. I would have scored him well down for that, !

Lads that was a blatant case of a dog not wanting to let go of the bird lets be honest. He was lucky the judge mick walsh turned a blind eye to it or just didnt see it

    Just my point Kells.

the dog should always hold on to the bird until you have it secured then he will release. but they need time to release especially on a wounded bird as dropping it at your feet or spitting it could result in it escaping, my dogs have also always been taught that when retrieving from water they dont stop to shake themselves until they deliver to hand as dogs tend to place the bird on the ground then shake then pick it up again,, this too can cause a wounded bird to escape..its all about the dog securing the bird after being shot and delivering it into your hand in a secure manner..any evidence of a dogs mouth being suspect can be seen either on the birds body through punctures or in the manner a lightly wounded bird acts when being carried, if the dogs bite is too hard the bird will throw its head back..

as long as the dog in that clip wasnt damaging the bird his delivery was fine..

ya see because thats exactly about as much as you know your getting very repetitive at this stage if the circus ever passes through your town you might want to think about going on tour with your fantastic bunch of spaniels if you havent em all sold in that case they will always have room for another clown

Escalated or deteriorated? Thread should be deleted with the tit for tat and general lack of respect shown to other sportsmen by some on it.

I agree, thoughts and opinions will always differ!
