Tonight at 8.30pm on BBC2. They are in Patagonia. This is the one where there was a whole lot of contravesy over the number plates on the car Clarkson was driving. Will be interesting to see is it any good been a while since there has been any Top Gear on.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Tonight will be like a regular top gear.

It'll be tomorrow night when things heat up and rocks are thrown

It was never likely to be a coincedence considering who's involved

Well for one, it certainly made a lot of people want to watch it more now & any excuse to wind up the 'Argies' & only added to Jeremy's profile & the Beeb were never going to get rid of him, just a slap on the hand that's all.

This is pretty boring...not much happening other than driving in fields.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,865 ✭✭✭✭MuppetCheck

Bit meh tbh. Savage camera work and scenery though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,421 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

The Lotus was pretty impressive on the rough roads, didn't seem to suffer much compared to the other two

    WORST. EPISODE. EVER.

Those Top Gear "specials" are gone too far for my liking. Watched the Burma one there the other night and really they have reached new levels of stupidity and incredulity. Building a bridge across some river? Ridiculous how the 3 of them pretend to do things like this at this stage...

I think that might be the joke..luckily, the one "they" finished tonight was dead level...

Ah balls! I missed it. Sky plus for tomorrow night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,549 ✭✭✭cml387

It would seem to me that this first part (second to follow) needed to be padded out a bit because the second part ended in them being thrown out of the country before they'd completed the program.

I enjoyed that. That mustang is a shed of a car.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 811 ✭✭✭EB_2013

Maybe they're building everything up for tomorrow night's episode as I thought tonight's was a bit boring. Apart from the stunning scenery not much else happened.

Loved James's Esprit, still a stunning looking car today.

The Lotus surprised me. My dream car when I was a kid. It certainly earned its corn.

    yawn

I predict they will achieve whatever their goal was with mere seconds to spare, whilst all looking like their lives are in real and imminent danger.

The 3 stooges are getting old, May made a half arsed attempt to get rid of his mullet Hammond is aging well though.

    So is Rachel Welch.

It is what it is. A decent way to spend an hour even if we know it's very scripted.

I quite enjoyed it, Really like watching these specials, out of all of them all I have to admit that the Burma special was probably my favourite.

Generally wouldn't watch a lot of the regular top gear episodes mind, I just like the specials for travel ideas, recently bought a bike and drove the length of Vietnam on it - a trip which was mostly inspired by the show!

People seem to forget that Top Gear is a motoring themed entertainment show, and not a motoring show. It's obvious that the 3 gobsh1tes cant do anything for themselves and a huge amount of background & support crew work goes into the show, but that doesn't matter, it's entertaining!

Looking forward to part 2 :)

BUgGeR! Missed it, anyone know if its being repeated?

Missed it but just watched it on the Beeb's iplayer.

I'm with Cheensbo. I really enjoy these specials. They have a bit of "cars" and a bit of everything else. If it was purely a car show I'd find it boring. Those kinds of shows are only for real petrol heads. Top Gear is a show that people with zero interest in cars can enjoy along with those with an interest in them.

I liked the look of that old Mustang but it was a bit of a dog. Stunning scenery in that part of the World too.

that mustang like most american cars of that era (and new ones mind you) had the handling of a horsebox. The show was entertaining enough, part 2 awaits.

I agree I really like the Burma special. Some of the specials have and do get a bit silly or stupid do. There has also been some really good ones. The one in Africa where Hammond has the Opel car that he named Oliver that was a really good one. Another was the one with the three old 4x4s in South America. One thing that really annoys me do is even do the cars they have might be old they are normally in very good condition when they get them but by the end of some of the shows they can be in a right state which is kinda sad. Thats Top Gear do.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

The first episode is available to download if you know where to get it. ;)

Clarkson tweeted earlier that **** kicks off in episode 2.

Seem to be completely devoid of any new ideas.Driving cars around a field and up dirt tracks isn't really compelling television.
All had sump guards fitted as well I notice.

Does anybody know when part 2 is on. Daughter loves the show but I can't find out when the second one is on.

I enjoyed it. Alot more normal than ones of past.

Surprised by the lotus. Loved his "moment" I refuse to believe that was put on. If he did try to get it upset to show a point he didn't mean to do that.

The mustang is a laugh but from the sound of it, it wasn't running right from the start

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,513 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

He definitely had that story in one of his articles years and years ago.

That intro was a big FU to the Argentinians anyway.

    Randomly placed saddled horses :(

Poor James, that fall looked nasty.

The reg is a disgrace to be fair, his claims that he didn't notice etc and that the complaint was the first they noticed it is completely unbelievable.

Maybe British folk might think it great but as a neutral so to speak I think it's nothing short of antagonising a country for entertainment (never good).

We might yet see a big FU from the Arg' to JC :)

Second part worse than first part, which was rubbish imo.

can see the big support crew that they travel with now

3 presenters seem to abandon the crew for the dangerous part

Gah cant believe i missed this is there a BBC2+1 on NTL ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,865 ✭✭✭✭MuppetCheck

They deliberately antagonised people, drew it on themselves and over dramatised it I'm sure for TV.

I usually enjoy top gear for what it is but that left a bad taste in my mouth. They always play on the British bit, but that has to be incredibly insulting to Argentina and the people that died. Very poor judgement shown there. But it got them attention I suppose as they needed it with the show on a downward slide.

Much better show on immediately after it anyway.
