Well he doesn't really bring the whole party vibe with him does he? And 5 or more years or so between albums???

    Wtf?

I'd choose British born Phil Lynott.

I just have one very simple wish - I want to bring them all back. I couldn't choose just one musician.

    Yeah I know I am greedy.......but it's Christmas.

I know I'm showing my age now but as a teenager I was lucky enough to get to go to the Thin Lizzy Thundering and Lightning concert - pure magic.

I also got to see Rory Gallagher play in Killarney. Amazing talent.

Never got to see Gary Moore or the Pecker Dunne play in real life.

If I had a Christmas dinner "Come Dine With Me" I'd include all those mentioned above......and many more.

Surprised there's been so little mention of Ronnie Drew. He was a mad bastard. Defo number 1 on my list.

Thinking about it Fran O'Toole was a sad loss. Nothing like Gary Moore but a charming and talented man who was loved by my younger sister before he he died so tragically. He would have gone on to great things.

I was a big fan of Frans. Even so, Rory Gallagher gets my vote.

Has to be Philo, Ireland's first true rock star.

...and here's Joe Dolan covering Psycho Killer

There aren't words to adequately describe how wrong that is.

Rory Gallagher, without a second's hesitation. Best in the world, aside from (maybe) Hendrix. After Rory I'd have to get Gary Moore and Philo to draw lots or something. Honorable mention goes to Christy Dignam.

Would have to be Rory Gallagher. Probably the best musician Ireland has ever produced.

    PS Happy Christmas everyone!

    ^What he said.

I've heard of Mic(k?) Christopher but don't know he is. The song of his posted, he sounds like a guy who whips out the guitar at a house party. No offence.

I'd probably pick Liam Clancy just because I meant to go see him a few years ago on one of those shows where he was mostly talking and playing songs in between but I forgot it was on. He died a few months later so I didn't get another chance to.

I just listened. That is vile. Pure vile

    Absolutely Rory Gallagher.

Luke Kelly's voice is like sand paper to my ears.

Luke Kelly- he'd do some singing about the issues we're facing today !
A proper social spokesperson of his day...
A ballad about how labour sold out the working man perhaps???
" to whom do we owe our allegiance today" ......

Plus he's the greatest balladeer ever to have graced us.
Luke made a difference then.... He'd make one now!

Yeah...he'd have frightened the shyte out of the Troika all right.

I meant his career. Between the drugs and the illnesses he can hardly even sing nowadays. Probably the biggest case of wasted talent in Ireland, Aslan could have made it huge.
