    What is delusional about it?

Why does this matter to you so much? Your life won't change in any way if this goes through. I would say you might get invited to a few more weddings, but in your case I'm going to assume that's unlikely :pac:

I wouldn't pay much notice to be honest - fran is a coward on the matter, fully happy to throw nonsense around but completely unable and unwilling to back any of it up, just running away when pressed on it to come back later on and pretend he was never asked. It's kind of par for the course, and to be honest when you see posts like his response to this one it comes across like he may not even full believe what he is on about (or at least does not have a thought out argument on the matter and/or the intelligence to form one) and instead is just seeking validation by having people reply to his posts.

Undecided. Just how gay are these marriages likely to be?

    Faaaaaaabulously. :)

    I'll be voting 'No'

In my view it's a sickness brought on by a level of neglect by parents or maybe a lack of!

When you consider opinions like this how are you supposed to take the No side serious, and I'm not even going go there, intellect is lacking in such a no vote like this

But there has been nothing to show this.

    Quiet you.

How dare you be so rude and insulting! You should treat his opinion with respect and politely point out whatever it is you might disagree with. Honestly, what is it with the "yes" crowd being so thoughtless, mean and insulting? You're making those poor "no" campaigners feel very sad with your insensitive and nasty abuse of these fine people.

Not sure if serious, it was a play on his user name. He can of course say what he likes.

I think it was a joke. It can be difficult to tell in this thread in fairness.

In fairness the No crowd are pretty pissed with us because they had to donate their communion/confirmation money to the Iona institute to help hire the best legal team so they can sue pretty much all of us on the Yes side

All that poor man did was try to state that homosexuality is an illness, and disease, a sickness (that one would assume can surely then be cured?) brought on by poor parenting and years of neglect leading to a "broken" person, implying that gay people are "lesser" people than straight folks, and that don't deserve the same basic human rights such as marriage... and you had to go and insult and silence him like a big meanie! Typical, just typical. How dare you!

    *not serious.

This kind of post does no good for the "Yes" campaign at all.
There is a chance that reading posts like this could turn off many Catholics who would be thinking of actually voting Yes.
    No need for it.
If a "No" poster is being a prat there is no need to go to that level.

And again, waiting for a yes person to say something while a no person can say
    I'll be voting 'No'

    And its grand.

Is there a reason you only condemn the unsavoury posts on the Yes side?

    Read the post again.

I have, and I don't follow your logic that catholics would be swayed away from voting yes based on that post. Unless you're suggesting that they aren't intelligent enough to realise it's completely irrelevant.

There is only one side in the debate with something to gain.
Attacking the Catholic Church is not the way to gain votes.

The no side must have something to gain if they care so much about it.

They weren't, they were attacking Iona. The only people that's going to turn away are people who support Iona, and I'd bet all my belongings that there is not one person who supports Iona who is anything other than 100% for a no vote.

...because they had to donate their communion/confirmation money to the Iona institute to help hire the best legal team so they can sue pretty much all of us on the Yes side

The Iona institute do not have those sacraments.

They have die-hards who see gay marriage as an affront to them.
Attacking all of them does not win friends.

Right. But they only represent a small subset of Catholics in Ireland. That post was clearly aimed towards that subset, and there would be no hope of convincing any of them to vote yes anyway.

That post was not about a small subset though. It didn't say that at all.

No rational catholic is going to be donating to the Iona institute.

Agree but he should have stated that. He didn't.

The post specifically mentioned the no campaign (who I'm pretty sure aren't going to be swayed) and the Iona institute. If you genuinely take that as an attack on all Catholics then there's no reasoning with you.

You don't know how anyone will take that so why post it at all.

Why on Gods earth, sorry most people in this thread don't have a faith,on earth would you put a poll on a homosexual issue here.Of course homosexuals and supporters of homosexuality are going to be highly active in an online forum.I'd predict at least a 80% in favour vote here but this forum has absolutely no relevance to the opinion of Ireland as a whole.

Oh I have no doubt the yes vote would be high.......its the last two categories what may be more interesting.

Given the way this thread has gone over the past few days, posting a not sure or not voting is almost as bad as a no preference.....perhaps some are reading but not commenting

A poll here has as much relevance as gay marriage.

Have people considered everything that's associated with a marriage?

I know 'a few' & have no issues with them but the idea of a marriage just goes

    against my grain anyway.

Because a higher amount of us have the mental capacity to operate technology?

So if you like someone of the opposite sex, you are more likely to be stupid ?

I don't know, you'll have to ask fran. He's the one making the wild claims in the first place.

More deflection....he made me do it
